ACC football has entered the back half of the regular season and the countdown to the conference championship and bowl eligibility has begun. Apparently there are still some surprises available in the weekly grab bag both from teams and individuals. The shorter schedule, seven teams were on bye weeks, still presented some fun ball. The wow-factor kicked in with Pitt and their true freshman QB Mason Heintschel who battled it out with Florida State in Tallahassee. Both the Panthers and Seminoles pounded it out on both sides of the ball where only a handful of miscues helped turn the overall tide in favor of Pitt. Football The world of Wake Forest football under head coach Jake Dickert is slowly turning the corner and the long-term plan is kicking in just in time to possibly deliver a bowl bid. The Demon Deacons started this journey weeks ago and it came to fruition with a solid win against Oregon State. College football found itself in the midst of the final stages of coaches on hot seats as a number of head coaches and assistants were released. Are more to come? Yes. And just wait until the end of the season. Will and Jim review all the games and then take a look at what's on the horizon in Week 8. There are some serious matchups that could further upset the ACC apple cart once again. Who do they think will win? Pigeonholing a football team like Wake Forest based on previous performance would be short-sighted. It's been easy over the years to simply synopsize but now it's approaching fool-hardy to not do your homework. We can all agree that NIL and the Transfer Portal have flipped college football on it's head. There's still some lack of equality but plenty of room for the creative. Cam Lemons Debro of 247's Demon Deacon Digest joins Will and Jim to provide a preview of how Wake Forest football has and is changing. It starts with a new head coach, new schemes, new players and a mindset that eagerly wraps it's arms around the changes to the game and embraces them. That means there will be some obvious changes in what opponents and fans see on the field. Wake Forest Cam talks with Will about some of the subtle and not-so-subtle nuisances that former Washington State coach Jake Dickert brings to the Demon Deacons. Find out what personnel are filling out the roster, where the strengths are and the new looks on offense and defense. Some of these will make you lift your eyebrow a time or two. What does Debro think about this year's schedule? It's always a perilous journey when projecting wins and losses but we think you'll find a straight-forward and honest assessment of what this team can do. This week on the podcast is JoJo Jourdon!JoJo holds PRs of:3:37.00 (1500m), 3:56.37 (mile), 7:53.48 (3K), 13:41.00 (5K), 29:30 (10K XC). JoJo burst onto the high school national scene in 2023, becoming Utah's fifth-ever individual Nike Cross Nationals champion with a time of 15:16.5. Not long after, he became just the 21st‑ever high‑schooler to break the four‑minute mile, clocking 3:59.87 in Boston at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.Despite all the hype, many wondered if the NXN title was a high‑school blip or a fluke. But as a true freshman at Wake Forest, he helped lead the Demon Deacons to an ACC team title, anchoring the pack with an 8th place finish at conference cross country (behind seniors Ethan Strand and Parker Wolfe). all while earning ACC Freshman of the Year. And with the departure of distance stars like Strand, Wolfe, Graham Blanks, and Yaseen Abdalla, the door is opening wide for athletes like JoJo and Wake to seize control of the NCAA distance landscape. The culture he's building feels ready to contend for national titles.During today's conversation, we unpack:What separates high‑school stars who adapt in college from those who don't and why JoJo believes belief, humility, and trusting your instincts is keyHow trust, patience, and staying “hungry” have defined his freshman year: from finishing last in the mile at ACC indoors to battling toe‑to‑toe with the NCAA's best in the 5K outdoor final. What he sees in the Wake program, and what the evolving trajectory of the team means for his own goals. This was one of the most joyful, perspective‑filled conversations I've had in a while. So many cool insights and tidbits to take away from JoJo. Truly a rising star of our sport. Please consider leaving a follow and a five-star review! Without further delay, please enjoy my conversation with the one and only, JoJo Jourdon.

Chris Lee and Alfred Ezman look at the field of four in the Knoxville Regional and give picks. Topics include: Defending national champion Tennessee has struggled with defense and pitching lately. But Andrew Fischer and Gavin Kilen remain tough outs, freshman Levi Clark has flashed big things, and the Vols have a bunch of talented bats like Dean Curley and others, too. The Volunteers' fate will depend on ace Liam Doyle, starters Marcus Phillips and AJ Russell, and a bullpen with experienced flamethrowers like Brandon Arvidson and Nate Snead. Tennessee has the talent to repeat as national champions, but can it find consistency? Second-seeded Wake Forest is led by future first-round MLB pick Marek Houston at short, and had four other double-digit home-run hitters in Jack Winery (14), Kade Lewis (11), Dalton Wentz (10) and Matt Scannell (10). The Deamon Deacons also have a talented ace in righty Blake Morningstar at the top of the rotation, and lefty Matthew Dallas (who transferred from Tennessee) also starting in the rotation. Can the Demon Deacons put together a run this tournament starting in Knoxville? Cincinnati makes a rare NCAA Tournament appearance, but the Bearcats stole 127 bases (led by Landon Vidourek's 37) and have the Big 12 Player of the year in Kerrington Cross(.399/.525/.657) manning third. Whether or not the Bearkats do damage may depend on how arms Nathan Taylor and Kellen O'Connor perform. Miami (Ohio) could be one of the more challenging four-seeds in the tournament. The Redhawks have a pair of quality starters in Cooper Katskee (2.66 ERA) and Carson Byers (2.65), with Katskee being great at keeping the ball in the yard. The lineup got on base throughout the order, and the big bat is Evan Applejack (19 HR).

They finish the show by putting into perspective the 2025 college baseball season around the country, why patience is important in a long season, and preview the rubber match at UF in Gainesville on Tuesday night (7 PM ET, ESPN2)
The Duke Blue Devils hammered the Wake Forest Demon Deacons last night to cap an undefeated 17-0 record in Cameron this season. We recap it all on Episode 699. With Jason out, our 6th Man Scott Rich joins Donald to recap everything that happened in this game. Duke had a sluggish start, but it was so much fun to see this team scrap to take the lead and open it up to a 40 point lead late before winning 93-60. Scott and Donald talk though all of the major things that Duke did well, from hustle to defense to Cooper Flagg's NPOY performance. We also get into some of the bad, including a discussion on Caleb Foster not getting into the game. There were some picks to nit, but this team is steadily becoming one that no one wants to mess with in March. We end with love for the Duke Women's Team as they prepare for the ACC Tournament this week in Greensboro. Make sure you're following us!
