RUNDOWN   A cryptic Hotshot tweet about cheering for arrests sets the tone before the guys revel in the Mariners' wild seven-game sweep and the Seahawks' statement win in Pittsburgh. The bullpen's near-perfect ERA has playoff dreams buzzing, George Kirby snaps back in style, and Sam Darnold, Ken Walker, and Riq Woolen all shine. Mitch, Brady, and Joe revel in a historic seven-game home sweep that has the Mariners suddenly in control of the AL West. The bullpen's 30+ innings with only one earned run anchors the conversation, alongside George Kirby's 14-strikeout rebound, Julio's resurgence at the plate, and Cal Raleigh's record-setting power. With Kansas City and Houston on deck, the crew debates playoff odds, MVP chatter, and whether Josh Naylor might be the perfect midseason fit in Seattle. Fresh off a 31–17 win in Pittsburgh, the crew digs into a Seahawks performance that mixed chaos with control. Riq Woolen redeemed himself with a hustle play that saved a touchdown. Sam Darnold shook off mistakes to make clutch throws, Kenneth Walker topped 100 yards with a highlight-reel touchdown, and the ball finally spread to Cooper Kupp, JSN, Horton, and the tight ends. Rick Neuheisel joins to unpack a loaded college football weekend — from Brian Kelly scolding reporters after LSU's win, to Georgia's Gunner Stockton and Notre Dame–Texas A&M's wild finish, to Arch Manning getting booed in Austin. He shares stories of media jousts from his UCLA days, weighs in on John Mateer's Heisman chances at Oklahoma, and even recalls the “Apple Cup plunge” tradition from his perfect 4–0 run against WSU. Neuheisel closes with his weekly pick, riding Nebraska as a home underdog against Michigan while eyeing the upcoming Apple Cup showdown. Bud Withers joins to discuss his new book, the first ever written on the history of the Apple Cup, just in time for another chapter in the storied rivalry. He reflects on why the UW–WSU matchup is uniquely distinctive, how Don James viewed it as “everything to lose, nothing to gain,” and why Cougar upsets often define the most memorable games.   GUESTS   Brady Farkas | Host, Refuse to Lose Podcast (Mariners on SI) Joe Doyle | MLB Draft & Mariners Analyst, Over-Slot Substack Brady Henderson | Seahawks Insider, ESPN Jacson Bevens | Writer, Cigar Thoughts Rick Neuheisel | CBS College Football Analyst, Former Head Coach & Rose Bowl Champion Bud Withers | Veteran Pacific Northwest sportswriter & author of Too Good to Be Through   TABLE OF CONTENTS   0:00 | Arrest Videos, Mariners Revival and Seahawks win! 21:23 | Stockton, Pete Carrol and Wicked Game 25:15 | BEAT THE BOYS, Presented by Fireside Home Solutions. Week 3 delivered the kind of college football chaos we live for, and we're here to break it all down. We witnessed Texas A&M pull off a stunning road upset at Notre Dame in a 41-40 thriller that came down to the final seconds, with Marcel Reed and the Aggies finding a way to steal one in South Bend. Meanwhile, Georgia and Tennessee went to overtime in what might have been the game of the week, with Gunner Stockton making an absolutely ridiculous fourth-down throw to tie it at the end of regulation. The madness didn't stop there. We saw Georgia Tech shock Clemson on a walk-off 55-yard field goal, LSU's defense stifle Florida's DJ Lagway in a 20-10 win, and the next chapter in Vanderbilt's surprising start with a dominant road win at South Carolina. From the SEC's wild weekend to surprising performances across every conference, we're breaking down all the biggest storylines, unexpected heroes, and what it all might for the playoff picture. Week 3 of the college football season is in the books and it did not lack drama. South Bend was rocking as #8 Notre Dame hosted #16 Texas A&M. A game that came down to a botched PAT and a late TD saw the Aggies upset the Irish 41-40. Ross Dellenger was in attendance and chats with Andy Staples and Steven Godfrey about the scene. They discuss how good this A&M team really is and if Notre Dame can overcome this 0-2 start or if their playoff hopes are gone.Another game that came down to the wire saw #6 Georgia squeak past #15 Tennessee in an overtime thriller. Joey Aguilar and Gunner Stockton have been standouts for their respective teams this season and the guys chat about the impact both of these quarterbacks are having. They also discuss the parity in the SEC and how competitive the conference is this season from top to bottom.Later, the guys discuss the scene at Brian Kelly's LSU press conference following their win over Florida. They analyze whether Kelly was justified at being upset by the first question asked to him, how LSU's offense needs to improve as the season goes on and the expectations on Kelly in year 4 at LSU. Finally, the guys take a look at the quarterbacks everyone was talking about coming into the season and discuss why they seem to be struggling at the beginning of the year. Were the evaluations severely incorrect, or is it too early in the season to pass judgement on some of these quarterbacks? Plus, Andy, Ross and Steven discuss the new world of quarterback transfers. May the trend of bringing in a top qb prospect and his offensive coordinator begin to increase? Evidence suggests this may be the way of the future.Get your Week 3 recap from College Football Enquirer.(2:45) - #16 Texas A&M upsets #8 Notre Dame(17:43) - #6 Georgia survives #15 Tennessee(22:54) - What do we know about the SEC after three weeks?(31:04) - Brian Kelly sounds off on the media(49:51) - What QBs may be overrated?(54:48) - New wave of OC/QB transfer combo(58:29) - Teams who may be looking for a new coach(1:02:03) - Other notable games from the weekend Subscribe to the College Football Enquirer on your favorite podcast app:

The stage is set for Georgia’s first true test of the season — a trip to Knoxville to face a hot and motivated Tennessee team. Buck Belue breaks down why this matchup feels like 1980 all over again. UGA’s offensive line is banged up, while the Vols are down their top two corners. Expect Georgia to attack the freshman corner early and often. Nate Frazier needs 15+ carries — the Dawgs must run the damn ball. Zachariah Branch could be the X-factor in this one with his playmaking ability. Gunner Stockton has to cut it loose, just like Buck did back in 1980 against the Vols. Tennessee will spread the field — KJ Bolden’s communication in the secondary will be critical to keeping the defense sound. And if it comes down to special teams, Georgia has the edge. All that and more as Buck sets the scene for a classic SEC showdown in Knoxville.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Mike, Beau, Ali, and Rusty discuss if a Georgia Tech win over Clemson or a Georgia loss to Tennessee would be a bigger deal this Saturday, if Rusty is nervous about Georgia's game with Tennessee on Saturday, how Mississippi State Head Football Coach Jeff Lebby has managed to turn around the Mississippi State football program, how Georgia fans are feeling about Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton, how Rusty is feeling about Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton right now, if Georgia is good enough on the offensive line and at the running back position to beat Tennessee on Saturday, who the guy for Georgia is that's set to breakout this season, and how Rusty feels about the proposed new transfer portal window. Then, The Morning Shift crew previews the Atlanta Falcons' week two matchup with the Minnesota Vikings, and discusses which matchups they think will be most important when talking about the Falcons' offense taking on the Vikings' defense. Beau, Mike, Ali, and Grant discuss Brian Snitker's comments about possibly retiring at the end of the season, if Grant thinks Braves' catcher Sean Murphy would still be playing if the Braves were in a pennant race, how Grant thinks the situation between Houston Astros pitcher Framber Valdez and catcher César Salazar played out in the Astros' clubhouse, if the Framber Valdez and César Salazar situation is too serious to handle in Kangaroo court, what Grant thinks Braves' General Manager Alex Anthopoulos means when he says he's going to address the starting rotation this offseason, and why Grant thinks Spencer Strider shaved.

As they discuss, Carl and Mike agree that while Georgia still got the results they should have against lesser opponents, they believe Georgia appeared to have some struggles against them and Tennessee looks to be well ahead of them.

Griffin Warner and Lonte Smith talk CFB betting for week 3. Game Previews Georgia at Tennessee (6:05 – 12:39) Line: Georgia -3.5 (down from -7.5). Smith: “I don't really trust Gunner Stockton… it'll be a run heavy approach on both sides.” Stat: Georgia top 10 in rush success rate. First-time road starters are 3-10 straight up, 3-9-1 ATS. Lean: Under 49.5, with Tennessee backers getting value if they grabbed +7. Clemson at Georgia Tech (13:33 – 15:59) Line fell from -9 to -3.5. Smith: “This is a good buy low spot for Clemson.” Concern over GT QB Haynes King's health and their 91st-ranked pass success rate. Clemson's defense and potential WR return could tilt the matchup. Florida at LSU (17:24 – 23:12) Line: LSU -7, total 48.5. Florida's discipline issues showed with 11 penalties for 101 yards. Smith: “Under would be the only way I would look.” LSU's defense is improving, while QB Lagway's success depends on teammates cleaning up mistakes. Texas A&M at Notre Dame (23:13 – 30:33) Line: Notre Dame -7, total 49.5. Smith stresses urgency: “This is a must win for Notre Dame.” Player stat: Jeremiah Love had 14 touches for 78 yards; Smith insists he must see 20+ carries. A&M ranks outside top 100 in 3rd/4th down success rate. Lean: Notre Dame under 7 and under the total. Best Bets (31:47 – 35:15) Lonte Smith: Southern Miss +2.5. “I think Southern Miss wins this game outright.” He cites App State's struggles against weak opponents and the Marshall-to-Southern Miss coaching/player pipeline. Griffin Warner: Tennessee +3.5. “It's great to be a Tennessee Vol.” He backs the Knoxville home-field edge against Georgia. Takeaway The discussion highlights Florida's lack of discipline, the volatility of young QBs like Stockton, and Notre Dame's must-win spot. The week closes with confidence in two home underdogs—Southern Miss and Tennessee—as the sharpest plays. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
