Georgia and Ole Miss travel to New Orleans, La., for a College Football Playoff quarterfinal game in the Sugar Bowl. The game will be played New Year's Day at 7 Central and will be shown on ESPN. The Southeastern 16 crew previews the game. Topics include: We saw a motivated Ole Miss team handle Tulane easily, a game that showed the Rebels are ready to play for new coach Pete Golding. However, Ole Miss's best two players--Trinidad Chambliss and Kewan Lacy--both suffered shoulder injuries vs. Tulane. Monitor the health of both entering the Sugar Bowl. Georgai's defense, led by CJ Allen and KJ Bolden, played like some of Kirby Smart's elite defenses in the season's second half. They'll need to play well because Chambiss is a dynamic player, plus, the Rebels can spread a defense out through the air as five pass-catchers--Harrison Wallace III, De'Zhaun Stribling, Deuce Alexander, Dae'Quan Wright and Cayden Lee--enter with over 500 yards receiving. The Bulldogs have found plenty of offensive balance with physical running back Nate Frazier showing both speed and power, and quarterback Gunner Stockton showing he can make timely plays both through the air and with his feet when needed. Don't sleep on Ole Miss's defense, either. The Rebels gave consistent effort there and have stars in linebacker Suntarine Perkins, Princewill Umamielen and didn't allow more than 26 points in any of their last six games. Both teams are elite on special teams. YEARLY CO Use promo code SE16KIT for a free sizing kit! https://yearlyco.com/ ROKFORM Use promo code SEC25 for 25% off! Southeastern 16's Jay Greeson and Chris Lee unpack the matter of whether Georgia should be the national title favorite. Topics include: Kirby Smart has his team peaking at the right time--and is there any coach you'd trust more in the postseason than Kirby Smart? Just one team managed to beat Georgia during the regular season--Alabama--and Georgia just smashed the Crimson Tide in the Southeastern Conference title match two weeks ago. The Bulldogs entered the season very talented, but also very young. Peaking at season's end was a very predictable trajectory. Listen to Kirby Smart's interview with David Pollack on the “See Ball, Get Ball” podcast this week. You can hear the confidence and the faith in the work ethic. The Bulldogs showed up in big circumstances: a September win at Tennessee, a win in a rivalry game at Auburn, a home defeat of Ole Miss, a neutral-site win over Florida in a rivalry game on a day the Gators showed up to play, a dominant performance at Mississippi State, a 25-point demolition of Texas and a defeat of Georgia Tech in a rivalry game. Nate Frazier has been running well, Gunner Stockton makes timely plays and the defense is peaking at the same time. Is there a dominant team anywhere? On the other hand, many of those wins weren't dominant performances and on the whole. Some elements of Georgia's season (a per-play edge of just 5.8 yards to 4.9, a turnover margin of zero) were merely good and not national-title level. Where are the superstars? After all that, how do we see the Bulldogs? (HINT: The answers may be in things we haven't mentioned above!) In this episode, we celebrate Georgia's back-to-back SEC titles after a cathartic 28–7 win over Alabama in Atlanta and finally exorcising some Mercedes-Benz demons. We walk through the full game day experience—from atmosphere and concessions to the “reverse Rammer Jammer”—before digging into how Mike Bobo's offense controlled the clock, stayed balanced, and trusted a young offensive line to grow up fast. Then we show love to Glenn Schumann's defense for holding Alabama to negative rushing yards, smothering the Tide on third down, and letting emerging leaders like C.J. Allen and Ellis Robinson shine on the biggest stage. We close by reacting to a wild conference championship weekend, the chaotic playoff field, Notre Dame opting out, and why nobody in America should want to see this Georgia team right now. On this episode of the JT Sports Podcast, JT breaks down why the College Football Playoff is completely broken after championship weekend and how the system is failing the sport. JT explains why Alabama deserves a playoff spot even at 10–3, why conference championships have lost all meaning, and how the ACC embarrassed college football with an 8–5 champion. He dives into how Indiana beating Ohio State changes the entire future of roster building and why Kurt Signetti just shattered every old rule about who can contend for a national title. JT also unpacks how Georgia dismantled Alabama, exposed every flaw in the Crimson Tide, and reminded the country why Kirby Smart still runs this sport.

CFB Championship Week + Best Bets In this championship-week episode of the College Football Podcast, Griffin Warner and Lonte Smith break down four major conference title games and how each may influence the College Football Playoff CFB Championship Week + Best Be… . They open with Texas Tech as a 13-point favorite over BYU, noting BYU's coaching distraction and one-dimensional offense, while Texas Tech's stronger trenches, multidimensional attack, and defensive advantages make them the superior version of BYU. Next, they turn to Georgia-Alabama, with Georgia laying 2.5. Lonte initially leaned heavily to Georgia but hesitated after Georgia's sloppy showing vs Georgia Tech and Alabama's uneven play at Auburn. He cites Kirby Smart's elite in-game adjustments, Georgia's ability to take over late, Alabama's struggles with pressure and running QBs, and assigns only a slight home-field bump for Georgia in Atlanta. They then dive into the ACC chaos of Duke vs Virginia, with UVA favored by 3.5, and the wild possibility that a 7-5 Duke win could leave the ACC without a playoff representative, potentially opening two Group-of-5 bids. Lonte likes the over due to both teams' volatility and Duke's high variance, though Virginia's multidimensional offense is a matchup advantage. Finally, they break down Indiana vs Ohio State, OSU -4.5 and total 48, a game both teams may treat cautiously since both are likely playoff-bound regardless of result. Lonte expects vanilla game plans, ball control, and elite OSU defense limiting explosiveness, making first-half and full-game unders appealing. Indiana has more emotional motivation and program history incentive, while OSU has the superior trenches and proven ability to hold plays back for the postseason. Griffin leans to Indiana plus the points given low urgency for OSU and Indiana's higher motivational ceiling. Best bets: Lonte takes under 23.5 first half in Indiana-OSU, expecting a slow, conservative script; Griffin takes Indiana +4.5. They wrap with promo code CHAMP15 for pregame.com and tease postseason episodes. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
