Our first premiere of the day sees two generations of techno join forces to showcase a hypnotic masterclass as Jereon Search & Pushmann release on N&N Records. Hailing from the Netherlands and Spain respectively, the pair lean on shuffling drum grooves alongside a whirlpool of swirling sci-fi-orientated synth lines for a transfixing techno tool. One of the leading lights in Spain's contemporary techno scene Pushmann has put together a colossal various artist's release with music coming from Alexander Kowalski, DJ Shufflemaster, Doug Cooney, Hertz Collision, Ken Ishii, Mike Storm, Ritzi Lee, The Advent & more on his label N&N Records. We premiere Jeroen Search & Pushmann's collaboration. Hailing from Spain Pusmann produces a Detroitesque sound with a clear and strong influence from the cities of Berlin and Birmingham. His sound is widespread but often finds itself in the realms of fast-paced, industrial, and mechanical high-octane techno. The Spaniard's releases have seen massive support from Ben Sims, Truncate, Laurent Garnier, Mark Broom, Slam, Dj Hyperactive, Kevin Sanderson, Orlando Voorn, Paul Mac, and many more. With previous releases on Hardgroove, Be As One Imprint, Suara, and more, the young DJ is one of the most exciting prospects in techno right now. A name that hardly needs introduction Jereon Search has been at the top of his game since the 90s. Jeroen Search, who has been cited by many as an inspiration, personifies an accurate and straightforward interpretation of techno music. He has consistently been at the face of contemporary modern techno. Known for his genre-defying unique sound, energetic performances, and forward-thinking live shows. Releases on Axis, Token, KEY Vinyl, and Figure, to mention a few, as well as on his own imprint Search and other labels have cemented his name as one of the great innovators in techno. We premiere Jereon Search & Pushmann's collaboration ‘Avoid Capture'. The track is a high-energy trip through space and time as the pair put their minds together to bring a head-scrambling excursion surrounded by nefarious synth lines and swinging drum grooves. The pair have both notably released on Jeff Mills Axis imprint, and you can find them finding a common dominion within that sci-fi and futuristic sound that is often harnessed on Mill's label. This week's entry to the Local Selection Mix Series welcomes esteemed Subject resident Niall Cleary. The massively talented and ever-consistent DJ has put forward a sensational mix featuring 57 tracks with a host of Irish and international talent throughout. Niall has been a key cog in the Dublin techno machine since the early 2000s when nights like Electric City and venues such as Redbox and the old Tivoli Theatre were in their prime. A student of the fast, loop-driven techno from the late 90s, and early 2000s eras, his sets are high energy, full of fast transitions and expert blends. Since late 2009, Niall has been a resident DJ with the renowned Subject events, playing alongside some of the biggest names in house, techno, and electro, as well as appearances at clubs and festivals such as District 8, Index, Twisted Pepper, Life, and Electric Picnic. Niall also holds a residency on Dublin Digital Radio where he plays alongside Mutate Events who host a bi-monthly techno show on Thursday nights where they focus on showcasing emerging and already-established Irish artists. Having played alongside techno stalwarts Dave Clarke, Paula Temple, Surgeon, DJ Bone, Jeff Mills, DVS1, Juan Atkins, Karenn, and more, Niall's pedigree in providing a classy warm-up set is frankly second to none. Niall's skill behind a pair of turntables is not restricted to serving up the starters, as he's been frequently found dishing out peak-time tools at numerous Irish festivals including Life Festival, Electric Picnic, and more. Niall's entry to the Local Selection features a range of brilliant artists that include SHDW & Obscure Shape, Alarico, Truncate, Lars Huismann, Tommy Holohan, Doug Cooney, Aero, Mode_1, Slam, Casper Hastings, and more throughout and just coming in at just over 2 hours in length. Making for a thoroughly enjoyable techno workout. Sorted. HomeNew Music Share Tweet We've got some new music from two of Ireland's finest techno producers's on one of Ireland's most promising new techno imprints, as Doug Cooney remixes Offtrack for Undivided. Doug Cooney provides a menacing peak-time remix of Offtrack's original, as the RLSD boss man lyes on shuffling rhythms and pulsating synth lines. Undivided was established in early 2021 by Dublin natives Amak & A PageOne, with a goal to showcase emerging local and international talent in electronic music. Together, the duo have created a stir with a series of underground events that have attracted a rapidly growing audience. Following on from the label's previously strong releases from FYuN & Jack Nolan in 2022, they now return with yet another massive Irish releases from Offtrack, with Doug Cooney on remix duties. The 4 track EP is stacked with quivering synth lines, syncopated rhythms and kaleidoscopic shuffling soundscapes. Today we have the pleasure of hosting Doug Cooney's remix. In recent years Doug has been burning the midnight oil in the studio, crafting high octane and distinctly function techno tracks. Cooney has recently signed records with respected labels such as Orbis, GND, Gynoid, EFR, Bastardo Electrico, N&N Records, Research & Orgone, alongside RLSD Records his own imprint laying a strong foundation for his future in music. His productions have received support from Dave Clarke, Amelie Lens, Ben Sims, Luke Slater, Rodhad, KR!Z, and Answer Code Request. Doug's tracks have also been been remixed by Aiken, Binny, Lee Holman and Dystopian Records Jon Hester, proving his calibre in the international arena. Doug's remix of Master Detune show's the RLSD boss man at his rawest and most uncompromising as he goes hell for leather with pounding rhythms and unapologetic synth work. He flips Offtrack's kickless original into a dance-floor devoted frenzy, as tough kick drums crash into jarring percussion, while spaced out hypnotic atmospheres glide across anarchic synth lines. This is hard-edged, peak-time techno at it's finest. This week's Local Selection is from Dublin native and rising DJ and producer Aoise, as we invite her to soundtrack your Wednesday afternoon. The young DJ and producer is a graduate of the Sunil Sharpe, Doug Cooney and DeFeKT school of excellence, having studied DJ techniques and music production at BIFE. There have been many high hitters to come from this course and after hearing Aoise's take on tunes we look forward to what's in store for her. Her sound stems from dark, dubby techno that has developed and matured through the years, taking inspiration from the likes of Ø [Phase], Sterac, Oscar Mulero and Sleeparchive. Having shared lineups with some of Europe's heavy hitters Christoph Faust (FKA Inhalt Der Nacht), Sunil Sharpe, Tommy Holohan and Shampain, we expect to see much more of her in the future. You can catch Aoise supporting Clouds this Friday in Dublin, plus at the Life Festival launch party on April 29th in Mullingar. For our first premiere of the week, we present a track from one of Ireland's leading and hardest working producers, Doug Cooney. The RLSD boss man is no stranger to knocking out prime techno cuts, and ‘Covalent' is no exception, as Doug channels classic dub techno auras with definitive 909 grooves. Doug Cooney lives and breathes techno within every facet of his life and has dedicated many years to the genres growth and wellbeing in Ireland. From setting up one of Ireland's best techno labels RLSD, to teaching in Bray Institute Of Further Education, alongside teaching his RLSD classes, to churning out proper techno 12 inches, there's few Irish DJs and producers that come close to Doug Cooney in terms of impact on the Irish techno scene. Doug Cooney also boast's being one of the most technically gifted DJs on the isle of Ireland. Meticulous attention to detail behind a set of turntables has seen Cooney share the booth with formidable techno figures such as Dave Clarke, James Ruskin, UVB, Mark Broom and more. Doug has a number of distinguished international gigs under his belt, with a debut at the fabled Tresor in Berlin, being the highlight. For Doug's next release he features on a colossal VA from Dutch techno connoisseurs, Frenzy. Frenzy welcomes the first Various Artist release on their newborn label, Frenzy Recordings. The VA contains 12 tracks handcrafted by 13 artists, both renowned and upcoming. Frenzy focuses on presenting the modern-day sound with roots of the old school, and that is exactly what this Various Artists stands for. Doug's contribution to the debut VA from Frenzy is an infectious dub influenced techno roller. Like many of Doug's great tracks, it's minimal, funky and effective, breathing the essence of techno. As the loop progresses it becomes more and more infectious. The finer details in the atmosphere and carefully orchestrated switches make this track so special. One of Doug's finest pieces of work in my humble opinion. We premiere the 3rd release from the Dublin based label, Hotseat Recordings, as they welcome Peggs, a young DJ, producer and most recently a member of the new wave band which is taking the scene by storm, Nixer Hotseat Recordings returns with their third release, welcoming Dublin based Peggs, who contributes two fantastic tracks to their Vol.2 EP. Gearóid Peggs aka Peggs is a 22-year-old Irish producer born and raised in the hills of Tallaght. He honed in on his craft and love of producing over a three-year stint at BIFE, being supervised and taught by the legendary pioneers of the Irish electronic scene Kenneth Harte, Sunil Sharpe and Doug Cooney. During this time he spent the early years of his musical career DJing in clubs around Dublin, supporting acts such as DeFeKT, Gnork and Entro Senestre. Ever since the global pandemic hit putting an unwanted halt to club events and DJ sets, Peggs has had the opportunity to turn his attention to other various musical ventures and productions, most notably our favourite thing to come out of lockdown, the wave duo called Nixer. The band was born from Peggs's desire to start a new wave-inspired project, since releasing five singles during the pandemic with band member Seán Keenan, despite the duo being separated by the Irish Sea. Between Peggs solo material, Nixer, and his collaboration under the Clutterhead moniker, Peggs has lots of new and exciting releases to heard, starting will what we hear today. The opening track 'Right Guard' [Which we premiere below] has punchy drums, lush pads and a hypnotic arpeggiated bassline. This is coupled with gorgeous synth leads which really draw out the emotion in this track when coupled with the pads. Take a listen to our premiere, plus head to Beatport to check out the second track from the EP, entitled 'Whats in Ur Mind'. You can support the artist and label by picking up Hotseat, Vol.2 via their Beatport page here. Our first premiere of the week comes from the emerging techno star, Shannen Blessing, as the talented young Irish DJ and producer provides us with her debut track 'J015M' to premiere this afternoon. While relatively new to the Irish techno scene, making her debut in March of 2019, Shannen has progressed rapidly in Dublin and Ireland, supporting international techno DJs such as Lag, Introversion, Inhalt Der Nacht and Parallx. Currently studying DJ techniques and music production in BIFE, with Doug Cooney, Sunil Sharpe and DeFeKT as mentors, it’s little surprise that we once again see another exciting young talent taking on the Irish techno scene with the confidence and skill set to match. During lockdown Shannen has been busy sharpening her production skills, busy in the studio, culminating in an electric debut release which we premiere today. Expect an industrial, rolling techno track with arpeggiated bleeps making hypnotic undercurrents throughout which will no doubt fit in well in any DJs bag.
