The brain's ability to recover after trauma is astonishing—and often overlooked in conventional care. In this episode of New Frontiers in Functional Medicine, I sit down with Dr. David Musnick, a long-time friend and brilliant clinician, to explore how we can unlock the brain's full potential for healing. Dr. Musnick challenges the standard of care for traumatic brain injuries and post-concussion syndrome, introducing a functional medicine approach that integrates advanced tools like Frequency-Specific Microcurrent, targeted nutritional strategies, and personalized interventions. His insights into the stages of recovery, the importance of addressing neuroinflammation, and the role of the gut-brain connection were a true "aha" for me. We also dive into groundbreaking methods for reversing secondary brain damage, a concept that could change everything for patients and practitioners alike. This conversation is packed with actionable takeaways and hope for those navigating brain injuries, cognitive impairment, or persistent post-concussion symptoms. You don't want to miss it.~DrKF Check out the show notes at https://www.drkarafitzgerald.com/fxmed-podcast for the full list of links and resources. Today I Interview Autumn Stephenson a student at BYU and a good friend of mine. Autumn grew up in Eagle Idaho, a town just outside of Boise. At the beginning of high school, Autumn found herself pushing down her religiosity in order to fit in with friends who disagreed with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Miracles in Autumn's life helped her to reconnect with her love for the Savior and she grew more aware of his love for her. Through going to the temple, making new friends, and feeling the spirit through music Autumn gained a testimony. Autumn tells of her experiences having her dad as her Bishop, having a brother with Down syndrome, and her scholarship at BYU. I hope you enjoy!

Today I'm talking to Alei Merrill with Alei International in Eagle Idaho.Alei is a top agent in her market selling the most expensive homes in her market running her business under her personal brokerage alongside her 2 of her daughters. Before Alei was a real estate agent, she founded and ran a school and started and ran a travel agency of travel agents that had 4 offices she ran. All of that and, by the way, she was raising her 5 children. And that just touches the surface. Her 5 children became passionate entrepreneurs who made their way through school running their own small businesses. Alei shares that her focus and passion in all of her businesses has been listening to her clients and creating the experience for them that they are looking for whether in education in the school she founded, in travel in her travel agencies or what better than in their homes, hence her career in luxury real estate today. Most insightful from Alei was her clarity on her relationships with her clients and how she gets to the bottom of one of the greatest challenges we all find as real estate professionals, breaking through their barriers to guide them in making the right and the best purchase or sale that they come to us for.
