In this episode, I discuss some of the challenges and triumphs of evolving a business, sharing personal experiences from my journey as a CPA and business owner. I also discuss the concept of sunk cost bias and how difficult it can be to let go of past efforts to redirect focus toward new goals. Join me as I highlight the importance of being selective with opportunities, using the analogy of my adopted puppy, Lola, to illustrate the scarcity mindset entrepreneurs often face. Tune in for insights on making strategic decisions, saying no to past desires, and committing to your future self and business growth. In this episode of Warriors Unmasked, host Chuck Thuss sits down with Dr. Malasri Chaudhery-Malgeri—a leading psychologist, holistic healthcare practitioner, and the Chief Clinical Officer at Recovery.com. Dr. Malasri has spent her life guiding others through trauma, addiction, and mental health struggles, but her own journey to healing is one of resilience, courage, and self-discovery. From childhood abuse and trauma to overcoming toxic relationships and systemic failures in mental health care, Dr. Malasri opens up about the painful experiences that shaped her mission. She shares powerful insights on breaking the silence, healing emotional wounds, and stepping into a life of purpose—not just for yourself, but to uplift others on their path to recovery. This conversation is a raw, deeply personal, and inspiring look at the real work of healing—and how acknowledging your struggles, finding your voice, and embracing self-worth can change everything. Finding Strength in Vulnerability For many, trauma leads to silence. The weight of shame, fear, and self-doubt can make speaking up feel impossible. Dr. Malasri knows this firsthand. She shares her childhood experience with abuse—how it led to health issues, emotional turmoil, and confusion about self-worth. She reveals the courage it took to finally speak up—and how her mother became her greatest advocate. She discusses the long-term impact of trauma on the body and mind—including the fears that keep people from seeking help. But her story doesn't stop there. Through years of personal growth and professional training, she learned how to heal, break free, and build a life dedicated to helping others do the same. Healing Is a Journey, Not a Quick Fix One of the most important messages in this episode is that healing isn't linear—and there are no shortcuts. Dr. Malasri introduces her 4-step process for emotional healing and recovery: Acknowledgement: Facing what happened and understanding its impact. Defining Your Future: Identifying what you truly want in life. Taking Action: Building a plan for change, no matter how small the steps. Accountability: Committing to yourself and your growth every single day. She also challenges the common belief that being strong means hiding emotions—emphasizing the importance of expressing pain, breaking the silence, and allowing space for self-compassion. Overcoming the Fear of Being Seen For many survivors, the hardest part of healing is learning to feel worthy of a better life. Dr. Malasri shares the struggles of self-worth that trauma survivors often face. She explains how societal pressure and stigma prevent people from seeking help. She offers strategies for breaking the cycle of emotional suppression—so you can move forward without fear. Whether you've faced trauma yourself, know someone who has, or simply want to learn more about mental health, resilience, and the power of healing, this episode is a must-listen. If this episode resonated with you, don't keep it to yourself. Share it with someone who needs to hear this message. Your healing journey starts today. A little while ago, I felt demotivated when it came to goal setting because a lot of the time, I either overpromised and underdelivered or simply couldn't control the outcome of the goals anyway. Adventures in kakeland - A podcast about running a cake business
In this months episode I share my opinion on what I thought about this years cake international show that was held at the NEC the weekend of the 1st - 3rd November 2024 It was also the 30th Anniversary of the show.Cake international is a mixture of workshops, cake stands from our fave suppliers and the biggest cake competition, and to win at the show is a very high achievement as the standard is so very high.I also share (as l usually do) how my business has performed in November, my decision not to do a Christmas promotion this year and why l deleted one of my social media accounts. I also share what i see trending which also includes the rebrand of jaguar cars its not cake related but i found it interesting when thinking about their ideal customer of which we as a cake community are very heavily focused on.This is also the last episode of 2024 so Merry Christmas and wishing you a profitable festive period.See you in 2025If you have a question or feedback about this episode you can message me here. When Chase bank charged me $15 for not having enough money in my account, I switched to USAA bank. I felt very strongly that people (and especially me) should not be penalized for being insolvent. I went with USAA because when my friends would put down their cards after a meal and discovered they all had USAA, they would all commence to talk about how much they loved their bank. I had literally never heard of anyone loving their bank before so when Chase let me down with that $15 charge, I signed up for USAA. Twenty two years later, I still have the same bank but I'm considering making a change and I suspect general enshittification and the rot economy are to blame but also, very plausibly, Apple.
