Psalm 37:27-29 highlights the preservation of the righteous, emphasizing their purity, divine protection, and eternal inheritance. Jim Osman explains that believers must depart from evil and pursue righteousness, trusting in God's justice, which ensures they will never be forsaken. While the wicked may prosper temporarily, their descendants will be cut off, whereas the righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever. This passage reassures believers that their security rests not in worldly success but in God's eternal promise, guiding them to live with a focus on holiness, faith, and future hope in Christ. ★ Support this podcast ★

This fourth heading of Psalm 37 contrasts the "abundance" of the wicked with the "little" of the righteous. Yahweh makes the little of the righteous better than the much of many wicked. There are five ways that God does this. We briefly note these five things and then consider a proverbial statement and the first of these five blessings. Clip of the Week-"An Eternal Inheritance" Brother Harry Collins Jr. Bro. Harry Collins Jr. opens “An Eternal Inheritance” at Camp Meeting 1969 observing the necessary care of preaching the Word of God to save souls. He prioritizes feeding the church of God with confidence that it will simultaneously feed sinners. In the war against “spiritual wickedness in high places”, he recommends the morning exercise of reading the Word, taking it with you to work, and coming to church with a testimony! Hebrews 9:15 For this reason He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. For this reason, what reason? Because Jesus “through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God,” He is the mediator of a new covenant. We learn in this verse why this new covenant was instituted—so that those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. For the eternal inheritance to be secured, the transgressions against the first covenant had to be paid for by death. The wages of sin is death, according to Rom. 6:23. Everyone under the first covenant could only fulfill the requirements of the Law by dying. Thus, they could never receive an eternal inheritance. Praise and give thanks to our merciful God. He sent His Son to earth with the command to offer Himself as a blood sacrifice to pay for all of those transgressions, once for all, for all time. Then He raised Him from the dead, declaring His sacrifice acceptable payment, raised Him up, and seated Him at His right hand. Having glorified His Son, then, in love, God sent or sends the Holy Spirit into the hearts of those He chose in Christ. The Holy Spirit is a down payment and a seal of the eternal inheritance which they have received. Let's see these incredible encouragements in other passages. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time (1 Peter 1:3-5). In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation — having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory. (Ephesians 1:13-14). “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'” But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. (John 7:38-39). If you have a never-ending flow of living water, the love of Christ, springing up within you, then you have been called and will receive the eternal inheritance. You live under the blessing of the new covenant. Jesus mediates that covenant so you may live with confidence and be not only a receptacle of His love but a channel of His love. Our living to love with Jesus is grounded in the presence of Jesus Christ abiding in us, which could only happen for the reason unpacked in these verses of Hebrews 9. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and praise and glory be to Jesus, our redeemer, savior, friend, and intercessor.

An episode from East River Baptist Church, a conservative, independent body of King James Bible believers located on the Northeast side of Houston, Texas. East River Baptist Church's (ERBC) mission as an assembly is threefold: - To Exalt the Saviour! Eph. 3:21 - To Edify the Saints! Eph. 4:16 - To Evangelize the Sinners! Lk 24:47 What ERBC believes about the Scriptures: “We believe that the scriptures of both Old and New Testament are verbally inspired of God, that they are the supreme and final authority for faith and practice, and are preserved in the Authorized Version (KJV 1611) of the Bible. 2 Timothy 3:16. Psalm 12:6-7.” What ERBC believes about God: “We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. That God is supreme in His person, absolute in His attributes, glorious in His perfection, and eternal in His being. 1 John 5:7.” What ERBC believes about Jesus: “We believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ. His conception by the Holy Spirit, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His death on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, His bodily resurrection, His exaltation at God's right hand, and His personal imminent, pre-millennial, and pre-tribulation return. Matthew 1:20. 2 Corinthians 1:21. Ephesians 1:7. Luke 24:6, 39. 1 Timothy 2:5.” What ERBC believes about Holy Spirit: “We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, one with the Father and the Son, the indweller of every believer to enlighten, guide, and enable him in life, testimony, and service, and seal each believer until the day of redemption of the body. John 15:26. John 14:7” What ERBC believes about man: “We believe that God created man in His image and likeness (a triune being: spirit, soul, and body) in a state of innocence's, but through temptation, he willingly transgressed, became dead in trespasses and sins. As a result, his posterity (all men) inherited a corrupt nature, are born in sin, and are under condemnation. Genesis 1:26. Psalm 51:5. Romans 5:12.” A message from ERBC to you: “If you are looking for a church in the Houston Texas area that preaches the Truth from God's Word, reach out to us at any time. The possession of the “promised land” as an enduring inheritance passed from generation to generation is an object lesson about the permanence (and the conditions) of our eternal inheritance ahead. When God's people will be given life itself as a permanent possession. Today, we will look at the "promised land" within the covenant, and the spiritual reality it points to. On the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast our study will begin in Hebrews 9:15. Dr. Mitchell will be speaking on the efficacy of the Person of Christ as it pertains to His finished work on the cross and resurrection. With the death of Christ, He inaugurated a new covenant in His blood. Even under the law, it is written that almost all things are cleansed by blood and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. So how much more will the blood of Christ cleanse one from sin and from dead works. We will be exploring Hebrews 9:15-22 in this lesson with our teacher Dr. Mitchell who has much to say about our savior's present work on our behalf. So let's turn in our Bibles to Hebrews 9:15 to begin.

“'He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death' or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” — Revelation 21:4 The book of Revelation speaks of conflicts and battles involving mysterious powers of evil, and we may wonder how and when such things might actually take place. Yet all who have hope in Christ have nothing to fear. The final result has already been announced. The Lord of heaven and earth has won the decisive battle through the finished work of Jesus, and the final triumph is assured. When the curtains of history close, there will be “a new heaven and a new earth” in which God lives with his people forever. God will wipe away every tear from our eyes, and mourning, death, and pain will disappear. Imagine the joy of living in the presence of the Lord, who has promised us his glorious inheritance. Our bodies will be renewed, and we will reign eternally with Christ. Sin will no longer be present in our lives, because nothing impure can stand in God's presence. There will be no sickness or suffering. All injustice and conflict will be things of the past. All who are redeemed in Christ are welcomed into God's kingdom by grace. Jesus is the only way that leads to God (John 14:6). And in the presence of God there is and will be fullness of joy forever! God of all eternity, thank you that one day all our sufferings will cease and you will wipe every tear from our eyes. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

We've seen how the sacraments re-present what Christ worked for us in his Passion and death, but the Catechism also explains to us how the sacraments prefigure our eternal inheritance in heaven. Fr. Mike uses this “nugget day” as an opportunity to ensure we understand what the sacraments are and what they're for. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 1130-1134. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. As we engage in prayer and declaration, we exercise our authority to command and receive God's blessings and favor. This journey of faith is about recognizing our identity as children of God and embracing the abundant life He has called us to.
