“Last night I had trouble sleeping, so I just take in a breath and then (as I breathe out) “lovely Jesus” “Beautiful Holy Spirit”. It’s a nice calming way to quieten my own mind and quieten my own lips”. Tom O'Neil talks of being inspired by Smith Wigglesworth and of how he has personally developed a discipline of spending time with God each day, which started with putting aside 2 minutes a day. cv.co.nz Support Sanctuary Radio: https://donate.rhemamedia.co.nz/?brand=sanctuarySee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 5th of February, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to 1 Corinthians 11:23-26:”For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me. For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.”Holy Communion - It is the most sacred of all Christian events. Jesus said to His disciples, ”Do it often.” It was the last supper that He had on earth before He went to the cross the very next day. I want to suggest to you that you do it at home with your family, that you do it at work with your people, that you do it when you're on the road. A very dear spiritual son of mine sent me a gift. It is a portable communion set, that's right, I can take it with me when I travel, wherever. I can break bread when I'm in the aeroplane, when I'm in a car, when I'm sitting in a room on my own in a hotel. Do it as often as you can. I also want to suggest to moms and dads that it's a good habit to get into. Aunty Jill and I break bread often and normally at breakfast time because that's the time when we sit together without any interruption from anywhere else. You know, you can't partake of Holy Communion if you are not talking to each other. No, you've got to make up. You've got to settle your differences. You see, Holy Communion is a very, very special thing.Smith Wigglesworth, that Yorkshire plumber, has been documented that he prayed for something like twelve or thirteen people that had died and were raised from the dead, and that man used to break bread continually, especially before he would go and do a special work for the Lord. We need to break bread and we need to do it with our families, maybe in the evening, and dad you can do it, you're the head of your house. If dad's not there, mom you can do it. Teenagers, you can do it. It's not specifically dedicated to one person at all. He doesn't speak about only the priests. No, He says that we must do it, you and I, so let's start doing it regularly. It's a good habit to get into.Jesus bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 18th of May, 2024, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Gospel of Matthew 5:16: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”It is not so much what we say but rather who we are that makes an impact on the world. Isn't that true? It is like that beautiful lighthouse standing on top of that cliff, with all the dangerous rocks behind it. Charles Haddon Spurgeon, the great preacher, said, “The lighthouse makes no noise, it makes no song and it is silent, but on a stormy night it shines through the noise of the waves that are crashing on the seashore, it helps that desperate sea captain, when he is trying to navigate his ship, with waves that are 3 metres high and he can't see where he is going, and then all of a sudden he sees a little light in the distance, just a spark, that's all he sees, and it speaks louder than a thousand choirs singing because now he knows where the danger is.”Many, many years ago, I had the privilege of going to speak at a men's conference in the northern part of our beloved South Africa. I got letter in the post before I left, to say that “There is an old gentleman who would like to meet with you.” Well, I want to be honest with you, at the time I felt I didn't have time to go and see him, but I felt the Holy Spirit say, “You must go and visit this old man on the way up to the conference”, which I duly did. As I walked into his house, I sensed the presence of God there. I saw a huge photograph on the wall of an old lady and an old man. I looked at that old man and I couldn't believe it. It was a photo of the Yorkshire Plumber, Smith Wigglesworth, a man who had been used by God, mightily. In fact, something like 13 people had been raised from the dead through his ministry. I said to the old gentleman, Mr Harold Berry, “Sir, is this a friend of yours?” He said, ‘It is one of my relatives. It is my wife's grandfather.” I was amazed. I got on my knees, on the carpet, and I asked him to please anoint me. I said, “I want your mantle, Sir.” This old gentleman had started many churches up in the Congo. He was ninety years old. He walked into his room, got a bottle of healing oil and anointed my head with oil. Then he started praying undiluted scripture over me. It was impressive, very impressive, but the part that I remember, only one part, he said, “It won't be so much what he says but who he is, that will make the impact,” And I have never forgotten that. It is not what you say, it is not how loud you can sing, it is how well you can shine for the Lord.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

This past week I officiated another funeral. Sometimes the weight becomes to much for me. I carry the spiritual weight of many. I also went to the hospital to visit a young lady who has a terminal illness. A prayer burden is a heaviness of heart and emotion, a spirit of mourning or feeling of restlessness. We cannot find a way to shift ourselves from a problem or need that has come our way. One of my heroes, Smith Wigglesworth would carry the burdens of many, and at times would moan and groan trying to go to sleep after one of his revival serves. Sharon has to help me at times to give it all to the Lord. I am like you, I ma not a machine, I cannot turn off my love for people by flipping a switch. Without the love of my life, Sharon I would not to do well.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning. It's the 16th of November, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the book of Isaiah 5:20,"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!"We need to call sin by its name. As believers, as followers of Jesus Christ, our standpoint has no grey area. It's either black or white. It's either right or wrong. Remember, people don't have to like us, but they must respect us for what we stand for. For evil to abound, all good people have to do is nothing. Isn't that right? Jesus says in Revelation 3:16: "So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth." Strong words! I really feel today I need to speak to dads and moms. You have to tell your children the absolute truth. You cannot compromise; they will not respect you for that. They might not like what you are saying at the moment because all their friends are doing something different, but we have to stand for truth and righteousness, and our gauge has to be the Bible. The Word says it, we believe it and that settles it. Remember, old Smith Wigglesworth said that? We have got to be known as people who walk the talk. You know, I heard a sad story many years ago about a beautiful young lady who grew up in a Christian home. Her mom and dad loved the Lord. She went to Sunday school, she got confirmed, and was a member of the church. Then she fell in love with a young man and she came home one night and said, "Mom, Dad, I am going to get married. They said, "Who are you going to marry?" "I am going to marry a communist." Now, communists don't believe that there is a God. Her mom and dad were totally devastated by what she said, and they asked her why, and she said, "Because he is the first man that I have met in my life who believes in what he stands for, and he stands by it."Young people are looking for truth and they are looking for a definite - they do not want any wishy-washy opinions! They want to know the truth because the truth will set them free. Let us be strong, bold, courageous and full of love and tell people the truth. His name is Jesus.God bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

I came across this book that a friend of mine recommended to me named "Fifty Pentecostal and Charismatic Leaders." I like the book so much that I ended up calling the author not long ago and speaking to him at length about the book. The book mentions many leaders you are likely to have heard of: Smith Wigglesworth, William Seymour, and Aimee Semple McPherson. Among these people is mentioned an individual originally from Great Britain named Donald Gee. The description given to Lake is particularly interesting: "The Apostle of Balance." At a time when there was so much hysteria in the Pentecostal community, Donald Gee was a steady voice that brought balance to an emerging movement. I believe that this principle of balance is a crucial one to realize for our personal lives and our walks of faith. The ultimate balance can be achieved by keeping our eyes on Jesus.
I am not moved by what I see. I am not moved by what I feel. I am moved by what I believe. Smith Wigglesworth
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 2nd of December, 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.“Therefore I urge you to take nourishment, for this is for your survival, since not a hair will fall from the head of any of you.” Acts 27:34That was Paul speaking to his fellow sailors when they were in the middle of a storm. He said, “We will not sink but you need to take food and you need to nourish yourselves.”If we do not look after ourselves both spiritually and also physically, we shall not finish this arduous journey we are travelling. We owe it first of all to God to finish strong, but also to our fellow travellers so that we do not become an unnecessary burden to them. Lord, please direct our discipline, teach us Lord to pray more, to meditate more, to read our Bibles more and to eat physical food as well.I read a story of the old Yorkshire Plumber, Smith Wigglesworth, who was queueing up at the ticket counter to purchase a ticket for a passage on the train to another preaching appointment. He came up to the counter and said, “First Class please.” The lady gave him a ticket for first class, he paid her and stood aside. Then a pious old preacher walked up and said, “Third class please,” and the lady gave him a third class ticket, he looked up at Smith Wigglesworth, and said, “I am looking after the Lord's money.” The old plumber, not to be outdone, said, “Yes, well done, but I am looking after the Lord's servant!”So today, look after yourself because you owe it to God and you owe it to your loved ones, and Jesus will see you to the end of your race.Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name. It is Friday morning, the 4th of November, 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. “For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.Though it tarries, wait for it;Because it will surely come,It will not tarry.”Habakkuk 2:3“Certainly not! (the Lord says) Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar.” Romans 3:4What God has said He will do, He will do. As I am recording this message to you, it is raining. If you listen carefully, the raindrops are falling on my tin roof. God's promises are yea and amen. He never makes idol promises. He will not go back on His word. He cannot be untrue to Himself, it is not in His nature. Do you know that old plumber, Smith Wigglesworth? His favourite quotation was, “God said it, I believe it and that settles it.” In the old days, when a man gave you his word with a handshake, over a business deal, it was as good as done. Unfortunately, not so these days. But with our Father in Heaven, when He promises something, we can bank on it. Excuse the pun, it's like a bank-guaranteed cheque. I looked the word “Guaranteed” up in the Oxford Dictionary, it means “a promise with certainty”. You can bank on it. So I want to say to that young lady who is waiting for the husband of her dreams and he is not coming, wait. Tarry, the Lord says, tarry because it will come to pass. I want to say to that young man who is waiting for a job opportunity. Just be patient, it will come. The Lord has promised you and He will do it. The same thing applies to that healing that you are trusting God for, or maybe a little baby that you have not been able to receive yet. Tarry, wait. If God has said it, He will do it because He does not tell lies. I want to say to you today that the Lord is the only person that we can truly trust with everything we have. So, have a wonderful day, knowing that the Lord, if He is for you, no man will ever stand against you.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.

If we're not careful, a whole generation of miracles can be forgotten and lost. One of my fascinations is how God used men and woman of the past to bring about the miraculous. Men like A. A. Alan, Smith Wigglesworth, John G. Lake, and Lester Sumrall were all used by God in mind-blowing ways. It's important to learn how he did. But not just to reminisce about "the old days", but to be built up in faith, knowing that if God did it before, he can do it again through you. Join me for a new Storytime.
Lily de Fin, great-grand daughter of Smith Wigglesworth, shares a prophetic word on how God hasn't turned a deaf ear to the UK!
Elizabeth Vaughhan Ministries P.O. Box 454, Argyle, Texas 78226
Day 163 Today's Reading: Galatians 1 A biography always ends with a person, their story, and what they did. A testimony is different. A testimony ends with what God did. God is the star of a testimony. A person is the star of a biography. The old saints used to say, “No test? Then no testimony.” The test is what gives us the testimony and the story. I grew up always hearing the word testimony. We don't hear that anymore. It's a forgotten form of storytelling that needs to be reintroduced. We used to call it “testimony services” in my church when I was growing up. It was in those services we got to hear people's stories. The basic plot line to a testimony is this: “It's bad, really bad. I was at the end of my rope. Jesus stepped in. And this is what He did. He rescued me.” I grew up in a storytelling family. We would have incredible Christian heroes sit around our table at home and share their stories with us. And if I wasn't there, I would hear the stories from my parents. I heard how Pennsylvania country preacher David Wilkerson started Teen Challenge in New York City. How converted gang member Nicky Cruz went from killing people to preaching to them. How Sonny Arguinzoni, a notorious New York drug addict, got saved and started a movement of churches worldwide called Victory Outreach. How my dad witnessed miracles when he was evangelist Kathryn Kuhlman's bodyguard when she was in town and he was off duty with the NYPD. My parents told me about the healings they saw through the ministry of Smith Wigglesworth when he would come to their church, Glad Tidings, in lower Manhattan. I got to hear stories from Paul Yonggi Cho, pastor of the million-member church in Seoul, South Korea, as he sat at our dinner table. All these stories would inform and inflame. That's what a testimony does. It sets us on fire and helps us realize how amazing God is. We're missing these stories today, especially for our youth. Eugene Peterson calls it “historical amnesia” and has this to say about it: "Another characteristic of the adolescent that has spread into the larger population is the absence of historical sense. The adolescent, of course, has no history. He or she has a childhood, but no accumulation of experience that transcends personal details and produces a sense of history. His world is highly personal and extremely empirical. As a consequence, the teenager is incredibly gullible. . . They may know the facts of history and read historical novels by the dozen, but they don't feel history in their bones. It is not their history. The result is that they begin every problem from scratch. There is no feeling of being part of a living tradition that already has some answers worked out and some procedures worth repeating." I'm so happy my parents connected me to the stories of God's people. It helped me see a much bigger picture than my own small world. In today's chapter, Paul tells his testimony. And he also shares how people realized that what happened to him couldn't have happened unless God stepped in. That this was nothing short of a miracle: The only thing they heard about me was this: “Our former enemy, who once brutally persecuted us, is now preaching the good news of the faith that he was once obsessed with destroying!” Because of the transformation that took place in my life, they praised God even more! (Galatians 1:23-24, TPT) Shannon L. Alder once said, “God can deliver you so well that some people won't believe your testimony.” Someone said it like this: God formed man. Sin deformed him. I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 10th of July 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.Acts 9:4-5:"Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?" And he said, "Who are You, Lord?" Then the Lord said, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting."It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Jesus said in Matthew 10:28:"And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."Some people seem to fear the devil and his demons more than they fear the living God. I want to tell you today that the devil is a mere creation. He cannot even create a storm in a teacup. He had his neck broken on the Cross of Calvary. When Jesus said, "It is finished", He meant it. He defeated death once and for all. On the third day, He rose from the dead. Satan is a bully and a liar and a thief.John 10:10"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."Don't give him any place in your life. You see on that road to Damascus, Jesus turned a potential mass murderer into a saint that wrote two-thirds of the New Testament. At that moment, Saul of Tarsus became Paul the Apostle. He did it in mere seconds and He can do it for you and me today. Please don't allow the devil to fill you with fear.In 2 Timothy 1:7, the Lord says I have not given you a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.I remember reading a story about Smith Wigglesworth when he was touring South Africa many years ago. He was sleeping on a farm somewhere in a rural area. In the middle of the night, he heard a horrible noise in the corner of his room. He leaned over and lit a candle, and in the corner of the room, he said he saw an apparition, an ugly demon. When he saw him he said, "Oh, is it just you?", he blew the candle out, turned over and went back to sleep. That was his regard for the devil. The devil cannot hurt you. He can only tell lies. Start to believe the word of God. Jesus said, "I will never leave you and I will never forsake you."Have a wonderful Sunday. God bless you and goodbye.

Day 121 Today's Reading: Romans 4 Romans 4 is just as much a faith chapter as is Hebrews 11, which gets called the hall of faith. Romans 4 gives us a ground level look of the steps of faith of the father of faith, Abraham. Paul shows us a specific situation Abraham had to walk out in faith and how he did it. And then Paul encourages us to “follow in the steps of the faith of our father Abraham” (verse 12). Let me take you to the dead of winter in the Midwest. Overnight a foot of snow has fallen, and today, you have to trudge through that snow as you walk to the train or bus. In that much snow, you don't step in fresh snow, you step in steps—the footprints of people who went before you. They left a track that makes it a bit easier for you to negotiate the terrain. The easiest way to walk then is to put your feet where feet have been. Step in their steps and it makes the journey easier. So let's look for those steps that Abraham already laid for us, and step in his steps. Let's first refresh our memories about the story that underlies Abraham's steps of faith. God promised Abraham and Sarah, his wife, a baby. The problem: he was one hundred years old and she was ninety. I'm not a doctor, but I think this is a problem . . . unless you have an even bigger God involved in the situation. And Abraham did. What steps did Abraham leave for us to walk in? First, faith doesn't ignore the raw and discouraging facts that are staring us in the face. Real faith is able to look at what really exists. This is the kind of faith Abraham had: “Without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah's womb” (Romans 4:19). Abraham contemplated. That means he looked at the facts carefully and with great deliberation, looking at every possibility, leaving nothing out. Here is what Abraham knew to be the facts: In regards to himself, at one hundred years old, his body was as good as dead. Regarding his wife, Sarah, at ninety years old, her womb was dead. Smith Wigglesworth once said, “I am not moved by what I see. I am moved only by what I believe.” Faith looks at the situation and faces it. And Abraham's situation looked impossible. Second, faith finds good footing in God's Word. I have a Bible that puts in capital letters any Old Testament passage quoted in the New Testament. In verses 17 and 18, that happens twice. It is Abraham going back to what God told him. The two times the capital letters are used are God speaking to Abraham: (As it is written, “A father of many natIons I have made you”) in the presence of Him whom he believed, even God, who gives life to the dead and calls into being that which does not exist. In hope against hope he believed, so that he might become a father of many nations according to that which had been spoken, “So shall your descendants be.” As it was written about Abraham, “A father of many nations I have made you.” That is future. But in the present, he was father of no one. You can be honest about what the situation looks like. But you then must find yourself speaking more about what God says to your situation in the Word of God. Staying close to God's Word will help you speak into future instead of complaining about your present circumstances. Fill your mouth with what He promised, His Word. Finally, the God you believe in will determine your faith level. There is a biblical phrase used many times about Abraham: “Abraham believed God.” It is used all over the Bible—from Genesis to Romans, Galatians to James. But what makes the phrase valid is that there is another phrase associated with Abraham in the Bible just like this one. It's in 2 Chronicles, Isaiah, and James. And I think it has something to do with the first phrase. The second phrase determined his faith

Wake the Faith up Slayer… This is Garth Heckman with the David Alliance and you can reach me at TDAgiantslayer@gmail.com Brought to you by wellbuiltbody.com Gym Apparel for men and women that rocks and shocks and ain't for everybody - but just might be for you. wellbuiltbody.com WE TRANSFORM BY ABIDING To understand these next few days it is so important that you listen to the first one called Jealousy. It sets the stage for the levels of abiding in God. So after yesterday we talked about praise and worship… and next is the Word of God. Prayer (Praying scripture, praying in tongues) Making our requests known. Prayer of petition, But the most powerful prayers are just conversations where you talk, and listen. Remember prayer is simply talking to God… but IT IS GOD we are talking to. So even though it is simple- it is profound and don't forget that. If you had the chance to talk to your hero…how much time would you want and how serious would you take it? lets treat prayer with God the same. We call it prayer because it is to denote that we are conversing with a deity, but again it is just conversation. What makes a good conversation? Ever talk to someone who just won't shut up, who interrupts and the conversation is always about them? Welcome to my prayer time - ok kidding, not kidding. We can make prayer all about us, but its really all about the Father in heaven. He is our Daddy, we have open heavens to commune with him… so talk Also prayer is never just a piece of my day- its the filler. Smith Wigglesworth said “I rarely pray more than 30 minutes a day, but I rarely go 30 minutes without praying”. What did he mean? Prayer is to be thought of as continual communion with Jesus through out the day. yes, we have set times of prayer, but he should always be a part of our thought process and conversation through out the day. Finally what we have been really trying to get at is the idea behind abiding… and that is simply waiting. You must understand that God does want to talk to you. He does want to be in your presence… but it comes down to waiting and how much do you want it, or him! Waiting on the Lord is an act of faith. Quiet your phones, cut out all distractions, quit praying, settle your soul and just wait on God. For his move, his word, his love. Remember he is a jealous God… give him your full attention and just wait. I like to have a journal in hand, and a pen and I just wait. I don't ask questions, I don't sing, I don't let my mind wander, I just say speak to me God… and you would be surprised at just how much he wants to talk to you. John 7:38, 39 38Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said: ‘Streams of living water will flow from within him.'” 39He was speaking about the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were later to receive. For the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.… If you really believe in him, then you will make it a habit, a discipline to wait on him…. and Rivers of living water shall flow out of you- not just a river, but rivers… his spirit will touch every area of your life!
Have you ever experienced a tug-of-war between your art and other aspects of your life - as if the two can't exist simultaneously? Chad Atkins had art inside him from a very early age. He grew up in a family of artists, and he never let a day of his childhood go by without drawing. But he also had a strong desire to live his life for the Lord. His artistic nature and his faith began to clash when he encountered the teachings of Smith Wigglesworth and other revivalists. And in an effort to remove anything that hindered him from God's presence… out went the art. After years of inner turmoil and outer sickness, Chad realized that while his heart was in the right place, when he denied his inner artist, he was denying God's plan for his life. Now Chad is re-discovering the artist inside, painting every night, and even selling some of his works. He's not trying to have too rigid a view of the future - just doing what God has put inside him to do and living the Kingdom life. A very good morning to you! It is Sunday morning, the 8th of May 2022. And this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.“May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble;May the name of the God of Jacob defend you;”Psalm 20:1And then we go to verse 7, its a verse we all know so well:“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.”Who can we put our trust in, in these troubled days? Can we put our trust and our faith in education? We thank God for education but I know many young people who are well educated who can't get a job. Can we put our trust in the economy? One day it's up and the next it is down. Take the price of fuel for example. Can you put your trust in your health? Folks, I am a man who exercises. I ride my horse, I ride my mountain bike, I do press-ups but I can't put my trust in my health. Can I put my trust in politics? Definitely not. One day we get promised this and the next day we get promised that - There is only One who will never, ever fail us and His name is Jesus Christ. He is totally trustworthy, He has promised us in Hebrews 13:5: “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” His word is dependable and sure. You can stake your life on it and indeed, the lives of your loved ones. You see, Jesus has got an unblemished track record - He has never failed. Everything that He has promised us He has given us. His track record goes right back to the beginning of time itself. Your investments might fail you, they may fail overnight. Men may let you down with empty promises but Jesus, never! What He said He will do, He has done. Jesus said it, I believe it and that settles it. That was said by a Yorkshire plumber named Smith Wigglesworth. Jesus said:“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.”John 14:1I never had the privilege of going to Bible College. I would have loved to but I went to a different college - I went to the School of Life. I have been involved in agriculture for 55 years. I have planted good seed, year after year, after year and then sat down and watched Jesus make it grow. He will do the same for you today! Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, trusting God, and watch what He will do for you.Have a wonderful Sunday.Jesus bless you and goodbye.
