Today's meditation comes from The Book Of Genesis in The Old Testament, and from the writings of Eberhard Arnold.
Chap. 100 - Cultivating God's Garden And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2. {OHC 106.1} Man, fallen man, may be transformed by the renewing of the mind, so that he can "prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." How does he prove this? By the Holy Spirit taking possession of his mind, spirit, heart, and character. {OHC 106.2} The rubbish of questionable principles and practices is to be swept away. The Lord desires the mind to be renovated, and the heart filled with the treasures of truth. {OHC 106.3} Truth has a power to elevate the receiver. It has a sanctifying influence upon mind and character.... Only by a continual improvement of the intellectual as well as the moral powers can we hope to answer the purpose of our Creator.... {OHC 106.4} A Christian should possess more intelligence and keener discernment than the worldling. The study of God's Word is continually expanding the mind and strengthening the intellect. There is nothing that will so refine and elevate the character, and give vigor to every faculty, as the continual exercise of the mind to grasp and comprehend weighty and important truths. {OHC 106.5} The human mind becomes dwarfed and enfeebled when dealing with commonplace matters only, never rising above the level of time and sense to grasp the mysteries of the unseen. The understanding is gradually brought to the level of the things with which it is constantly familiar.... Man need not cease to grow intellectually and spiritually during his lifetime. {OHC 106.6} We are to cultivate the talents given us by God. They are His gifts, and are to be used in their right relation to each other, so as to make a perfect whole. God gives the talents, the powers of the mind; man makes the character. The mind is the Lord's garden, and man must cultivate it earnestly in order to form a character after the divine similitude. {OHC 106.7} --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/tawasv/message

We see so many divisions in this world. It's nothing new. Whether it was race or gender or creed or status, there has always been tension between people. Paul reminds us, however, that as Christians we have no moral high ground. We are members of God's family the same way anyone else is - purely by grace. So, ours is not to be arrogant or conceited, but humbly to mirror the love and mercy of our God to us.
Have you ever thought of yourself as a garden plot? Probably not! But God once made that comparison with His children so it is profitable to give it some thought. And the illustration is richer than you might think at first! (TTTS#13)

We recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of Earth Day -- under circumstances no one could have anticipated. How is our treatment of God's creation a reflection of our beliefs and our faith? Is environmental stewardship a spiritual path and way to God in its own right? Today we speak with two guests who have connected environmentalism and spirituality in profound ways: The Rev. Stephen Blackmer, is founding executive director of Kairos Earth and chaplain of Church of the Woods, in Canterbury, NH. Steve comes to his calling with 30 years of conservation experience, having founded and built conservation organizations including the Five Rivers Conservation Trust, Northern Forest Alliance and Northern Forest Center. Deb Baker is a NH resident and Episcopalian who has been influential in getting many of the churches in the state to become a part of a new initiative from the Episcopal Church: Sustaining Earth Our Island Home. Part two of our Lenten series God's Garden.
You are GOD’S GARDEN, not a renovated garbage dump! You may think your past disqualifies you, but salvation beautifies you. In a world that often denies or ignores Him, the church provides a peaceful haven both to God and to those who need healing—like a garden. www.shreveministries.org
Standing in the tares- Seeing ingenue people can be frustrating, what does the bible say about dealing with these people? what did Jesus do in this situation? How do we handle it? I talk about that and more on this weeks podcast.
Matthew 24:12-13 (NASB) Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love [Lit: the love of many] will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. Psalm 92:12 (NASB) The [uncompromisingly] righteous man will flourish [Lit: sprout] like the palm tree [be long-lived, stately, upright, useful, and fruitful], He will grow [increase] like a cedar in Lebanon [majestic, stable, durable, and incorruptible]. Are You Growing? Knowledge of God, Relationship w/ Holy Spirit, Sanctification, Calling? [2 Peter 1:5-7 says, add to your faith [grow in], moral excellence, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, love] Verse 8-9 If these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins. Are You Flourishing? Flourish [Lit: sprout; to bud, shoot up, break forth; generally to spread; specifically to fly]. Are You Potted or Are You Planted? Psalm 92:13 (NASB) Planted in the house of the Lord [NLT: For they are transplanted to the Lord's own house], They flourish in the courts [yard] of God [Enclosure: Colossians 2:7 (NLT) Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. Psalm 92:14-15 (NASB) They will still yield fruit in old age; They shall be full of sap and very green, 15 To declare that the Lord is upright [just, good]; He is my rock [you can trust Him with your life], and there is no unrighteousness [evil, darkness] in Him. Hebrews 10:19-25 (NASB) Since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus… 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope [the timeless message] without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; 24 and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, 25 not forsaking [neglecting, avoiding, to stay away from, giving up on, desert, abandon] our own assembling [gathering, meeting, worshiping, church, a complete collection] together, as is the habit [custom, manner] of some, but encouraging one another [spurring each other on; admonishing, warning, urging]; and all the more as you see the day drawing near [the return of Christ]. Hebrews 10:25 [TPT] This is not the time to pull away and neglect meeting together, as some have formed the habit of doing, because we need each other. In fact, we should come together even more frequently, eager to encourage and urge each other onward as we anticipate that day dawning. In the book of Genesis, the story starts in a garden. As the story progresses, we are being called to go back to the garden, although the garden looks a bit different at each stage in the story. We hope you answer the call to return.
We welcomed Mr. Don Wells to the pulpit this morning. Mark 4:26-34
My name is George Originales. My last name Originales is Spanish and in English it means, Originales... and yes... I know... It's an original last name. However my first name, George is from the Greek name Georgios which is derived from the Greek word Georgos which means "farmer, earthworker" or in other terms, gardener. I find the etymology of name interesting when considering that God gave the first humans the vocation of being gardeners. After God planted the garden in the east of the land of Eden, Genesis 2:15 says that "The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it." Adam and Eve's overall purpose was to tend to the Garden of Eden and when you think about it, all of us, each human is still given the vocation of being a gardener. We are created to care for God's garden. Now don't misunderstand me, I'm not teaching a Green Gospel or EcoGospel here. Yes, we should be good stewards of nature but I want you to think deeper. Each of us is born into God's creation for the purpose of worshiping our Creator and we do this by our good works and service to our fellow Gardeners. Ephesians 2:10 says "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." God has created you for good work. Consider that before before church systems and before Mosiac Law was established humanity’s means of service before the Lord was the good work of tending to His creation. Adam and Eve cared for the garden. Work was their ministry. Your ministry is where you are at any given moment. All of Creation is the garden we are created to work in. Your ministry is to be faithful with the position and area God has currently placed you in. Your ministry may not be what we have come to call full-time ministry, but remember that we are all called to tend to His creation in some way. The good work and service for others that God wants you to steward, may not look like everyone else's because we are all meant to tend to different areas of the Garden. But, wherever God has placed you, work confidently knowing that God will equip you to succeed. God has invited us into his work by placing potential within his creation and giving us the opportunity to help it thrive. One of the many amazing things I have realized as I tend to my part of God's Garden is that while we aim to help the Garden grow, God is growing us. Be faithful with your assignment and for the glory of Garden well.
God's Garden Preacher: Thomas Davis Date: 13th January 2019 Time: 17:30
God uses the analogy of a garden to illustrate that He doesn’t want Christians to be isolated after they’ve been born again. Like a gardener, He wants to gather and plant them together in an organised garden setting. Likewise, God is a builder that brings individual stones together to form His house according to His own design. In this series, Brian Johnston traces the development of God’s House in the Bible and how it can still function today. This is ideal for those searching for church development, Christian discipleship, Bible history, early church, first century church and the teaching of the apostle Paul.
Episode Highlights: (0:46) Every single day there is so much advice out there about diets, and that is paralysis by analysis. Health is actually very simple, but humans get in the way of that.(2:27) Other than shock value here and there, the message about healthy diets is almost always constant.(3:12) Diets are not complicated; the challenge is that there are different uses for different programs and dietary plans, and that can confuse people. Keto, paleo, vegan - are all strategies that we can use to gain different results.(4:21) Orthorexia is the term for overdoing and overthinking that everything needs to be healthy, which has the opposite effect due to the constant stress about what you put in your body.(5:15) Before you try to get fancy with diets and nutrition, get the fundamentals right first.(6:20) The best and simplest diet plan that will get you rid of constant worry about what to eat - is called God's Garden and has five rules.(6:50) First rule: If it comes from a root, a plant or a tree; and if it walks or swims - eat it. If it comes in a bag or a box, and you can't recognize its original form - don't eat it.(7:50) Second rule: Food needs to be organic; it needs to be non-GMO. Organic means without pesticides and herbicides, which are the root cause of gut issues. Commercial vegetables are often overfarmed and have a deficiency in nutrients.(9:15) Third rule: If it wasn't here 10000 years ago - don't eat it. Separate the food that needs to be farmed from the food that can be picked out of the forest.(9:28) Fourth rule: If you do not know the answer to the first three rules - the answer is no, don't eat it.(9:56) Fifth rule: Always take the best eating option available.(11:06) Culturally we have built eating habits over time, and we eat foods not meant for humans. Koala eats only one type of food, it's the only food that fuels their body correctly. Humans are the same way - Snickers is not human food. Alcohol is similar; it's poison for our liver.(13:54) FFP rule - every time you look at your plate check if you got fat, fiber or protein on it. Good oils help create strong lipid layer (outer level of the cell) which serves for protection and builds a strong immune system. Also, fats are good for the brain; we need good fats on a regular basis for proper brain function.(16:55) Fiber comes from the complex carbohydrates, like kale and broccoli. Fats are the protectors, and fiber cleans the organism. We need around 30 grams a day (7-10 servings of vegetables), which many people don't do.(18:28) Protein is the building block of cells, but be mindful about how much protein are you taking, don't eat too much of it.(19:22) If you follow God's Garden diet plan, you can confidently say that you are eating the food for humans, without complicating anything.(19:44) Diet plans like Keto, Paleo, Intermittent fasting are not bad, there is a time and place for them. Dr. Precourt uses the vegan diet from time to time, for cleansing purposes and to bring the inflammation down.(20:35) A good diet is a foundation of health; it's not the end of be all for all health problems. If you are eating perfectly you are still going to be deficient in certain vitamins and minerals. Things like fish oil and magnesium are valid supplementation. If you have health problems despite eating well, then you need to figure out where the problems lie with a doctor, but at least you will know that diet is not the main issue.(23:34) Be aware of bad eating habits and alcohol. Don't go cold turkey on alcohol and sweets; it will not stick.(25:15) It would be best if you ate from God's Garden for as long as you live. I suspect that you and I are not that different. I want to be energetic, have fun, and explore what life has to offer. To do this, it helps to be healthy. Health can be a simple topic, it doesn’t need to be complicated or frustrating. The truth is our bodies were designed to feel good and heal on their own. Our job is to help them along the way. Maybe even get out of the way. It’s a simple process: get educated, become empowered and take action!-Doctor Bart Subscribe to the podcast here- https://www.drbartprecourt.com/healthmadesimple Facebook- https://www.facebook.com/drbartprecourt/ Instagram- https://www.instagram.com/drbartprecourt/
Message #338 "My Heart, God's Garden" - Acts 17:10-15 Sunday, August 26 2018 Previously we studied the prophecies concerning the Messiah's rising from the dead; we explored the significance of Jesus' resurrection and asked ourselves "how should we respond?" This week we will take a look at an exemplary group of people known as the Bereans. What did Luke observe about these individuals that caused their names to be immortalized in the Scriptures? Follow along as we learn from their attitude towards the Scriptures and their response to hearing the word of God. James 1:22 encouragement- Sometimes it's so easy to confuse listening to the Bible or sitting in a church service as a substitute for doing what the Bible says to do. This sermon challenges us to consider how we receive God's word. What is my attitude towards it? What is my response to it? In the familiar Parable of the Sower, God appears to be either a bad farmer, or at least an unusual one, for letting the weeds grow up among the wheat. Won't those weeds take nutrients the wheat could have used? Won't they shade and choke out the wheat? But the explanation Jesus gives offers us some relief from things we might otherwise be doing and frees us up to concentrate on loving our neighbors.
