Dr. Bart Precourt exemplifies mind/body health like no one I've met. He's such a high functioning, multi-business entrepreneur that you wouldn't be blamed for forgetting that he's also one of the top chiropractors in the country. Dr. Bart and his wife Kelli own Balance Fitness on 30A, which provides multiple health-related services like acupuncture, chiro, massage, yoga, and spin classes. They also sell everything from natural supplements to blood tests to branded merchandise. But this is just one of the businesses he runs. Dr. Bart is also a highly sought after executive coach, restauranteur, real estate investor and most recently, a farmer. That's not a typo… He just acquired a nearby farm and is working to source his own ingredients for his new restaurant, Prema Organic Cafe. Having success in any one of these businesses would be applaudable, but it seems like Dr. Bart hits home runs every time he steps up to bat. I wanted to find out why. In this interview, we cover Dr. Bart's origin story and what he says are the REAL keys to success.. and they're not what we've been taught in school. If you want to feel inspired by a true fixture of our community… a real life renegade entrepreneur who doesn't measure his success by revenue but by impact, then this is the episode for you.

More than most, those who work in the healthcare industry understand the importance of dedication to their jobs. But no matter how significant or life-changing your work is, your life outside of work is crucial as well. Not only this, but you must afford this essential work/life balance to your employees and coworkers. Justin Precourt knows this better than anyone. As the Chief Nursing Officer at UMass Memorial Health, he tries to keep work and personal lives separate for all hospital employees who report to him. But when a particularly stressful Christmas led to him breaking this rule, he had a choice to make. He could have ignored his mistake in an attempt to preserve his pride, but instead, he decided to own up and use it as a learning opportunity for himself and others. In this episode, hear Justin give his perspective on this incident, how it has helped him improve his role as a medical professional, and how his ideal of service affects every aspect of his career.

The New Year is just around the corner which means one thing – resolutions! Everyone will be setting new goals, making new health plans, and trying to change their trajectory for the upcoming year. One of the easiest ways for patients to jumpstart their health goals is with a group detox – and that's exactly what my good friend, Dr. Bart Precourt does with his patients. At first, he started small, with a group of only 20-25 patients and family members. Fast forward to today and he's now has grown his January group detox tribe to over 250 people! And not surprisingly, along the way, he's figured out a few best practices, how to enhance the patient experience, and managed to navigate all the logistical business challenges that come with such a large-scale production. All of that to say…. Dr. Bart is joining me on today's podcast to share the good, the bad, and the ugly about how to get started with a cleanse, what can go wrong, and how to make sure you're hitting it out of the park every time. Hosting an annual group detox is an awesome way to create a tight-knit tribe and impact waaaay more people at one time. Patients feel more engaged in the process when there's a sense of community to help keep them accountable and to provide support when needed. If you've ever thought about starting a group detox for your patients but haven't been sure where to start, this is the episode for you! Gold Nuggets (3:30) Dr. Bart's very first group cleanse. (5:18) How to avoid this major issue when getting started. (8:40) How much time you need to market and promote your event. (11:23) The importance of creating anticipation early on. If you know the Precourt's, you know this topic, keeping your pet healthy and happy, is true to their hearts. In this episode, Dr. Bart and Kelli share personal stories about their dogs, the history of dog food, what's in packaged dog food, and why and how you should feed your dog raw food. Our special guest, Kelli Precourt, is an Olympic athlete, founder and co-owner of Balance Health Studio, and dog lover. Together, Dr. Bart and Kelli, are dog parents to seven fur babies: Dr. Bob, Daryl, George, Jimmie, Stevie, Paris, and Tobi. Kelli and Dr. Bart diligently train and raise their dogs with their health and wellbeing as a top priority. The couple said they have learned how to best raise their dogs through years of trial and error, and they're excited to share their experience and knowledge with you. When Their Love of Dogs Was Born… When Dr. Bart met Kelli at a party, she came in with a pug named Tyler. Since then, Kelli has been avidly studying dog nutrition, and the couple continues to grow their pack. They've had twenty-plus dogs over the past two decades. The Dog Can Heal Itself… The first time Dr. Bart heard this phrase was about twenty years ago after hours of driving to a remote vet in Alabama. His canine best friend, Norman, has torn both of his ACLs and almost didn't wake up after the sedative a vet gave him. “The dog can heal itself. They never used man to heal. We have to help the dog heal,” the holistic vet said to Dr. Bart. Dr. Bart was reassured. He understands this language very well. The holistic vet did acupuncture and laser therapy to Norman, and she gave Norman Standard Process supplements. The vet also told Dr. Bart to feed his dogs raw food, like liver from the store and chicken breasts with bones. “He needs to heal his muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bone. So we have to feed him muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bone,” the vet explained. Dr. Bart recalls this moment testing his personal philosophy. How much did he believe that the power that made the body, heals the body? However, Dr. Bart followed through with the supplements and raw food, and Norman lived healthily until he was eleven. He tore his ACLs when he was three. The History of Dog Food Before there was any dry, processed dog food, dogs ate meat. They ate table scraps or whatever they could get outside. Then in 1859, James Spratt traveled from the United States to London. When he got off the boat he saw the crew members feeding the dogs a type of biscuit made out of flour, water, and salt. Spratt then got the idea to make dog food and package it. The first packaged dog food was literally flour, salt, water, and a little bit of blood, which was the only feed in there for the dog. Spratt was a great marketer, and he positioned this dog food as elite and exclusive. The packaged dog food was wildly successful, and Spratt then brought it over to the United States. From there, the dog food industry continued to grow as more people entered the market. Around the 1900s, dog food manufacturers began to can dog food, which had some horse meat in it. During World War II, dog kibble was born because the nation was rationing cans for the war. In 1964, the Pet Food Institute funded research to essentially tell people that they should no longer feed their dog table scraps because it's bad for them. In other words, the dog food industry convinced people that table scraps were no longer nutritious enough for dogs. However, that's far from the truth. Real food is great for the health of your pet. The Diseased, Dying, and Decaying Inside Every Package Dog food companies put an extremely low quality of meat in kibble. Kelli said there is only one dog food brand whose kibble has human-quality levels of meat in its kibble. When kibble is made, it's made out of diseased, dying, and decaying meat. Manufacturers also use high heat oils and carbohydrates to make kibble, and starch is the only way it stays together in a firm ball. The meat in kibble comes from rendering plants, which are not approved for human consumption. Just in the same way that low-quality oils, like canola oil, are toxic for our bodies, the oils in dog kibble are also toxic for your pet. What Happens When You Feed Your Dog Kibble? The number one reason a dog goes to the vet is allergies. Think ear infections, watery eyes, and licking their paws. These allergies are food allergies. When we eat processed food, we're devoid of minerals and vitamins. You're not getting the fundamental building blocks, like collagen and proteins, of our anatomy. When dogs don't have minerals, they have weak ligaments. Kibble causes dehydration and inflammation. There's good news, though, if you do choose to feed your dogs kibble. If you feed your dogs green leafy vegetables on their kibble three times a week, your dog is ninety percent less likely to get cancer. So if you do choose kibble, take twenty percent of the kibble out and put in twenty percent fresh food. That action will make a huge difference. How To Do Raw Food With vegetables, you need to puree it because dogs can't break down the pure veggies. You can also stream it a little, but the nutrient content goes down a little as we heat the food. When we talk about raw, we mean the organs, bones, skin, collagen, meats, and proteins. Essentially, we mean the whole animal when we say raw. You can buy premade raw foods. There are a lot of commercial foods that are premade. Cooked bones splinter and that can be a challenge for your dog. So, we don't want to give them cooked bones, but raw bones are more springy. Now, you do want to be cautious to chop the bones up if your dog swallows things whole. For their dogs, Kelli said she toes two tablespoons of the vegetable puree in with the meat. Questions from the Audience Should you feed your dog the same thing every day? I would change it up. You want to rotate the proteins and vegetables or else you'll create nutrient deficiencies in your dog. We also add raw eggs or scrambled eggs to their foods. Soft boiled eggs are the best way to serve eggs to your dogs. We also use goat milk for our dogs in their food as a probiotic. Bone broth is also awesome for dogs. Kelli said she also scoops coconut oil into their food. How do I start to transition to raw food? Start with raw dog food. I love Answers and Primal. You can literally also go to the grocery store and buy chicken breast or ground beef and put that into their bowl. How do you determine the amount to feed your dog? There's a lot of different philosophies. I think it's two percent of your dog's body weight. I used to weigh it out, but now I eyeball it. For us, we do ninety-five percent meat and about five percent of veggies. Because I've been doing it for so long, I know. That's why prepackaged raw is great though because you'll get a little patty of portion size. What's Next? We have put together a dashboard of all of Dr. Bart's videos, based on health topics, in our Level-Up Health Membership. This library of health content is low cost, so we can help you on your journey to becoming superhuman! Not only is it extensive, but it will continue to expand with new videos each month. Do you remember the nostalgia of coming inside from playing all day and coming together as a family at the dinner table? Are you learning how to implement this age old tradition with your own family? Our guest this week shares with us how she can keep this dream alive with a modern twist. This week, I am talking with Kristen Precourt, owner and founder of K Cooks LLC. Kristen is a mom on a mission to bring people together through food, one meal at a time. With her background in working in a professional kitchen and navigating the restaurant industry for the past 15 years, Kristen is no stranger to healthy, home cooked meals. Pat Precourt is a real estate investor, MMA gym owner, and business and personal development coach. He is passionate about helping entrepreneurs grow and conquer everything that is holding them back. Do you have self-doubt about your abilities? Do you keep going back to bad habits? This is the podcast you must, must listen to! Key Takeaways: Success is 80 to 90 percent mindset; the 20 to 10 percentage is just the mechanics and you can learn that anywhere! You have all the knowledge you need to succeed! You have to enjoy the journey, not the final goal. Don't copy what's popular out there. Be yourself, be unique. Nobody can beat that. Are you currently going through a phase of self-doubt? Emotions lie to us, whether they're good or bad. Remember: You know enough to get enough results right now. You just need to optimize it! What does the word ‘commitment' mean to you, personally? Define it. When people work on bettering themselves, what are some of the most common pitfalls that they fall into that make them not succeed? We are naturally built not to change. How can you create new and better habits? Remember, you want to change the behavior, not ‘get the tasks' done. The moment you become aware, habits become easier to form. What does it really mean to make money? Life isn't going to be enjoyable 100 percent of the time. Whenever you have a challenge, be grateful! Change the word ‘failure' to discover. Discovery is infinite. Failure is an ending. What's one piece of advice Patrick would give his younger self? Mentioned in This Episode: If you'd like to chat with Steve & Alex about how you can make more, work less, and live life on vacation, click here to watch a short video about ASCEND (and apply). Connect with Pat: Patrickprecourt.com Tweetables: “The most unique any of us could ever be is just to be us! We don't have to work at that.” “If you don't have the facts that support that you're not good enough, then you have to bet on one side or the other. Let's bet on you.” “Never make big decisions during an elevated emotional state.” Ask Alex A Question: Have a question you want featured on an upcoming Flip Empire Show? Could Javier "Chicharito" Hernández be the first player signed by Austin FC? We asked that question to the team's chairman and CEO, Anthony Precourt. This is a sneak peek at our first episode that will come out later this week, including the full 30-minute interview with Precourt. Find us on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher and Google Play. Thanks for listening!
The SaveTheCrew movement captured the imagination of soccer fans all across the country. In Columbus, after Anthony Precourt announced he was attempting to move the team to Austin, the fanbase rose up and--along with some passionate city officials--worked to keep the team where they started. Indeed, they on the cusp of securing a massive new stadium and training complex that will keep the team there for decades to come. It turned out to be a win-win for both cities, as Precourt and MLS managed to negotiate a deal with Austin to build a stadium which will house a MLS team starting in 2021. So both cities have teams, will have new stadiums to play in and it seems like the saga has come to an end. But everyone loves a good epilogue, so I called up two reporters who have been following the story. Chris Bils writes for the Austin Statesman and covers about Austin FC, while Jacob Myers covers the Crew for the Columbus Dispatch. We had a great conversation talking about how we got here, and where things go. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Three games after Mourinho's firing and Manchester United is a brand new team. Bernie and Dave discuss the team's improvements and break things down barney style for their guest, Lara Smith of Radio Tatas and Comedy Wham. Dave has a theory correlating the success of Manchester United and Millwall. In Austin news, the fellas celebrate the dropping of the lawsuit against Anthony Precourt by the State of Ohio, the City of Columbus, or whoever was suing him via the Modell Law. One would think Columbus Crew fans would be excited...well, Dave and Bernie have experienced otherwise.
Dave and Bernie discuss the sacking of Jose Mourinho, what it means for Manchester United moving forward and who may take the reigns as manager. They also have cause to celebrate as Anthony Precourt and the City of Austin, TX reach and sign a lease agreement for much anticipated McKalla Place Stadium deal - the future home of Austin FC. Naturally, they compare Austin's stadium deal to the proposed Columbus Crew stadium deal in Columbus, OH
Episode Highlights: (0:46) Every single day there is so much advice out there about diets, and that is paralysis by analysis. Health is actually very simple, but humans get in the way of that.(2:27) Other than shock value here and there, the message about healthy diets is almost always constant.(3:12) Diets are not complicated; the challenge is that there are different uses for different programs and dietary plans, and that can confuse people. Keto, paleo, vegan - are all strategies that we can use to gain different results.(4:21) Orthorexia is the term for overdoing and overthinking that everything needs to be healthy, which has the opposite effect due to the constant stress about what you put in your body.(5:15) Before you try to get fancy with diets and nutrition, get the fundamentals right first.(6:20) The best and simplest diet plan that will get you rid of constant worry about what to eat - is called God's Garden and has five rules.(6:50) First rule: If it comes from a root, a plant or a tree; and if it walks or swims - eat it. If it comes in a bag or a box, and you can't recognize its original form - don't eat it.(7:50) Second rule: Food needs to be organic; it needs to be non-GMO. Organic means without pesticides and herbicides, which are the root cause of gut issues. Commercial vegetables are often overfarmed and have a deficiency in nutrients.(9:15) Third rule: If it wasn't here 10000 years ago - don't eat it. Separate the food that needs to be farmed from the food that can be picked out of the forest.(9:28) Fourth rule: If you do not know the answer to the first three rules - the answer is no, don't eat it.(9:56) Fifth rule: Always take the best eating option available.(11:06) Culturally we have built eating habits over time, and we eat foods not meant for humans. Koala eats only one type of food, it's the only food that fuels their body correctly. Humans are the same way - Snickers is not human food. Alcohol is similar; it's poison for our liver.(13:54) FFP rule - every time you look at your plate check if you got fat, fiber or protein on it. Good oils help create strong lipid layer (outer level of the cell) which serves for protection and builds a strong immune system. Also, fats are good for the brain; we need good fats on a regular basis for proper brain function.(16:55) Fiber comes from the complex carbohydrates, like kale and broccoli. Fats are the protectors, and fiber cleans the organism. We need around 30 grams a day (7-10 servings of vegetables), which many people don't do.(18:28) Protein is the building block of cells, but be mindful about how much protein are you taking, don't eat too much of it.(19:22) If you follow God's Garden diet plan, you can confidently say that you are eating the food for humans, without complicating anything.(19:44) Diet plans like Keto, Paleo, Intermittent fasting are not bad, there is a time and place for them. Dr. Precourt uses the vegan diet from time to time, for cleansing purposes and to bring the inflammation down.(20:35) A good diet is a foundation of health; it's not the end of be all for all health problems. If you are eating perfectly you are still going to be deficient in certain vitamins and minerals. Things like fish oil and magnesium are valid supplementation. If you have health problems despite eating well, then you need to figure out where the problems lie with a doctor, but at least you will know that diet is not the main issue.(23:34) Be aware of bad eating habits and alcohol. Don't go cold turkey on alcohol and sweets; it will not stick.(25:15) It would be best if you ate from God's Garden for as long as you live. I suspect that you and I are not that different. I want to be energetic, have fun, and explore what life has to offer. To do this, it helps to be healthy. Health can be a simple topic, it doesn’t need to be complicated or frustrating. The truth is our bodies were designed to feel good and heal on their own. Our job is to help them along the way. Maybe even get out of the way. It’s a simple process: get educated, become empowered and take action!-Doctor Bart Subscribe to the podcast here- https://www.drbartprecourt.com/healthmadesimple Facebook- https://www.facebook.com/drbartprecourt/ Instagram- https://www.instagram.com/drbartprecourt/
This week: Bernie gets FIFA 19. John Madden should do commentary on every sport The guys compare Columbus' proposed stadium deal with the Haslam family, to Austin's deal with Precourt. Will Columbus, OH pony up the 100 million the Haslams are asking for in a new stadium deal? Manchester United ahem... well, they tied Crystal Palace.

Are you overjoyed or distraught or the Urban Meyer decision? If so, you probably don't live in Columbus, where citywide citizens came together to collectively say "Meh". In other news, our fair city gets yet another visit from el Presidente Trump this summer, while Kasich decided to avoid Trump and attend Matsuricon instead, cementing his tsundere relationship with Trump. In #savethecrew land, Precourt's team name and logo is a sight to behold. Not a good sight, but a sight nonetheless. Rounding out with the scooter beat, the city is digging its heels in and prepares to legislate the bike share and scooter share platforms that have begun popping up everywhere.

Michael Arace, Andrew Erickson are joined by Randy Kilbride to recap the Austin City Council vote on the stadium term sheet and how it may potential move the Crew SC closer to Austin. Next we discuss what came from the 7-4 vote to approve a term sheet between Precourt Sports Ventures and the city of Austin. We also talk about the Columbus Crew SC’s recent performance on the field and where they currently sit in the MLS standings. Finally, we answer fan submitted questions via social media. Council’s yes vote on stadium term sheet moves Crew SC closer to Austin
The gang is back together this week! Topics: Dave rants about a couple of Austin City Council members dragging their feet on #MLS2ATX. The fellas try to figure out what Ted Cruz is getting at regarding his recent comments about Facebook and Alex Jones. Gabe gets caught up in a local Facebook argument regarding what to nickname Jarrell, TX, the town he and Bernie lives in. Dave and Bernie tackle Manchester United's first 2018 match, the state of MLS, and touch on a few Austin soccer updates including Austin Bold - the newest USL team.
It's a pissed off episode this week and Dave, Bernie, and Gabe all agree that the United States government's policy of kidnapping immigrant children from their parents is complete bullshit and a violation of human rights - (to quote Bernie) "period the end." There's also a quick World Cup update and an #MLS2ATX update. It's a doozie.

"I don't know about the rest of you, but I've been playin' soccer since I was five years old. I've had some good years and some years to forget. I've burned out my knees... I don't think I have three toes that work right... I've lost most of the money I made and soccer has messed up my personal life from time to time. But I know one thing... I can still play this game a little. And I'd like to know who in this room thinks they're the kinda bum Mr. Precourt is lookin' for?" Well, then, I guess there's only one thing to do. What's that? Win the whole fuckin' thing.
We are all intrigued by the idea of getting Insider Secrets from people who are ultra-successful. This podcast episode is exactly that. You will get to hear two great friends, Kent Clothier and Pat Precourt as they discuss the things they notice that are different between people who succeed at a very high level and those who never get started. Most of it relates to mindset and the way you choose to show up in the world. But there are small nuances the guys highlight that make this short episode more than worth the listen, so don't miss out! Outline of this great episode Kent’s introduction to Pat Precourt, his good friend and fellow coach The thing going on between your ears is what’s holding you back Celebrating failures and how it increases learning and growth If you want a different result you need to change the decisions you make
It's international break and there's not a ton to talk about--aside from Italy's SHOCKING elimination from the 2018 World Cup at the hands of a Zlatan-less Sweden side. Hosts Evan Mateer and Gabe Lezra briefly touch on the World Cup qualifying news, Italy's incomprehensible decision not to start their best striker in a game they needed to win and some other odds and ends. They also break down some of the new #SaveTheCrew news, including the scam emails with Precourt, SBNation's fascinating breakdown of the Crew's solid financial situation, and their improbable run to the MLS cup semifinals. THEN it's the main event folks. Gabe and Evan are on their bullshit once again--and this time they cover everything from some absolutely absurd Pep Guardiola dick sucking, "I told you so takes" regarding Sebastian Giovinco, and good old-fashioned Italian racism. Bad takes go all the way back to 2003 (hey friends, who's better Freddy "the GOAT" Adu or Lionel "total bust" Messi?) and continue into the present day. Buckle up fam. It's an awesome episode.
Mayor Ginther announces that he and Columbus business leaders will meet with Crew owner Anthony Precourt and the MLS Commissioner Don Garber soon to try and keep the Crew SC from moving to Austin. It is too little too late? What can the city really offer?
