TSN1040's Jeff Paterson says except for the Nashville game where they scored five PP goals, the Canucks are hurting for goals and could use a boost. Jeff say Nikolay Goldobin won't be the savior but he thinks offence and creates it and should have a jump after getting the call up.

TSN hockey insider and game analyst Ray Ferraro is proud of his wife Cammi Granato getting hired as a scout by the new Seattle NHL franchise. Ray also gives his opinion on the status of Nikolay Goldobin with the Canucks.

The Province sports reporter Patrick Johnston says that the writing was already on the wall last spring for Nikolay Goldobin, who saw very little ice time in the second half of the season. Johnston also gave a preview of the Canada - Italy match tomorrow in the Rugby World Cup.

Travis Green says Nikolay Goldobin has had a quiet preseason adding he’s one of a handful of players that has to have a good showing in the final two preseason games. Travis says he has some difficult decisions to make to get down to the final roster & that is the hard part of coaching, when you have to disappoint someone.

Ray Ferraro says Nikolay Goldobin is clearly out of favour in Vancouver, and part of the reason is he doesn’t have a lot of utility/versatility in his game. Ray says Markus Granlund does offer some versatility, so that’s why Granlund stays in the lineup.

Canucks GM Jim Benning says he hasn't given up Nikolay Goldobin but that it's on Goldobin to show the organization that he's willing to do the things to round out his game - winning puck battles and hunting down pucks. Benning says Goldobin has a lot of skill and if he does the other things, he will be a part of the future. Benning also says if he had a wish list, he would like to add another forward that can play in the top 6, score and be a difference maker.

Ben Kuzma of the Province Sports isn't sure Nikolay Goldobin has a whole lot of trade value, given Goldy will likely be scratched for a fifth consecutive game on Saturday.
