Entscheidend ist, dass nur sinnvolle Risiken eingegangen werden, für die man eine möglichst verlässliche Rendite bekommt. Ein extrem breit gestreutes Weltportfolio verteilt das Kapital auf viele Unternehmen, Branchen und Länder und vermeidet damit unnötige Risiken. Ein Kursverlust von 30 Prozent in einem weltweit diversifizierten Aktienportfolio ist anders zu bewerten als ein gleich hoher Verlust bei einer einzelnen Aktie. Anlageentscheidungen sollten weder vom Börsenverlauf noch von Marktprognosen beeinflusst werden. Schlechte Nachrichten bedeuten nicht immer schlechte Kurse. Spektakuläre Erfolgsgeschichten einzelner Aktien fördern Gier und Selbstüberschätzung. Rationale Entscheidungen werden manchmal als „verrückt“ empfunden. Aktives Managen vermittelt zwar ein Gefühl von Kontrolle, ist aber oft ein Renditekiller. Verluste schmerzen psychologisch deutlich stärker, als gleich hohe Gewinne Freude bereiten. Der Renditevorteil kommt bei vielen Menschen nicht an, weil kurzfristige Kursschwankungen stärker wahrgenommen werden als langfristige Vermögenszuwächse. Nach mehreren guten Börsenjahren auf einen vermeintlich günstigeren Einstieg zu warten, ist keine vernünftige Anlagestrategie. Eine Aktienquote von 100 % ist nur für die Wenigsten sinnvoll. Die passende Aktienquote hängt von der finanziellen Situation, den Anlagezielen und der persönlichen Verlusttoleranz ab. Ein Portfolio ist nur dann richtig aufgestellt, wenn man auch in sehr unruhigen Börsenphasen noch gut schlafen kann. Breite Streuung und der Zeitfaktor sind entscheidend. Der langfristige Renditevorteil von Aktien ist nicht garantiert, ökonomisch, aber sehr gut begründet.
