Kingdom Builder – Part 2: Pick It Up In Week Two of our Kingdom Builder series, we look at the story of Nehemiah and the call to rebuild what has been left broken for far too long. What we step over today can become the very thing that limits tomorrow—but when we see the value, everything changes. This message speaks to both the personal and the communal. Whether it's your marriage, purpose, calling, or something you've quietly given up on—God is in the business of rebuilding. And not with perfect materials, but with what's already been left behind.

This powerful message centers on a critical question for our generation: Are we willing to pick up the mantle God has laid before us? Drawing from 2 Kings chapter 2, we encounter the dramatic transition between the prophet Elijah and his devoted follower Elisha. When Elijah was taken up to heaven in a whirlwind, his mantle fell to the ground, and Elisha had a choice to make. He could mourn what was lost, or he could pick up what God had provided. Elisha chose to pick up the mantle, and with it came a double portion of the anointing that had rested on Elijah. The profound truth here is that God is not asking us to survive on yesterday's anointing or someone else's faith. He is calling us to a fresh, powerful encounter with His Spirit that equips us for the unique challenges of our time. The symbolism of the mantle represents God's calling, His anointing, and His purpose for our lives. But here's the catch: we cannot pick up what God has for us if our hands are already full of other things. Some of us are carrying burdens, cares, and plans that we were never meant to carry. Before we can embrace God's plan, we must be willing to lay down our own. This is not just a message for young people, though revival is powerfully moving through this generation. It is a call to everyone, regardless of age, to step into the fullness of what God has prepared. The question echoes through our hearts: Will we pick it up?

Hip hop was forever changed in 1992 when his group the Pharcyde emerged onto the scene with their classic debut album 'Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde.' The group brought a decidedly animated and imaginative element to their songwriting and presence on the microphone – and Tre definitely stood out with his distinct melodic voice; you could really even say that a lot of these rappers who sing owe a bit to Slimkid3. The Pharcyde's second album Labcabincalifornia sported a darker sound (and early contributions from the great Jay Dee aka Jay Dilla) that reflected the frustration the group was going through with both the industry – and internally. Tre did one last album with the group (2000's Plain Rap) before embarking on a solo career that also has seen him team up with DJ Nu-Mark from Jurassic 5, Ozomatli, and occasional reunions with various members of his Pharcyde brethren – and today they are back at it (as a trio), touring the world and possibly poised to release new music soon.
