Man, the NBA feels a bit quiet... almost TOO quiet, huh? ANYWAY: tell ya what, after the initial July 1 onslaught, and the Rudy Gobert trade, NBA Free Agency has just about wrapped up, so we're recapping the latest moves... but mostly talking about What's Kevin Durant's trade value, AND going down the rabbit hole to build the Brooklyn Boomers, with the news that Aron Baynes is back & working out for NBA teams! You little beauty! That means we've got LOTS to talk about - from Chet and Giddey taking Summer League by storm... the Portland 'non sale' to the reaction to the Rudy Gobert trade... there's a loads to cover. ALSO: there's SEVEN POTENTIAL KD trades we like as we figure out KD's trades value, as well as a bunch of other YEAH NAHs, an UNPOPULAR OPINION OF THE DAY about KD's legacy AND an OUTBACK TAKEHOUSE! AND a COOKING WITH BAYNESY classic in tribute of the great man! This was a fun, meandering one today! Enjoy!!

(00:00 – 26:45) – Jimmy Cook opens the show as the guest host and immediately begins to hype up the Pacers 6th pick in the NBA Draft, Bennedict Mathurin. Jimmy then goes on to talk about other draft picks and where they fell in the first round. Discussion turns to whether or not Malcom Brogdon is tradeable right now in his career and at this point in the season. (26:46 – 41:02) – 93.1 WIBC's Jason Hammer joins the show to talk about the Pacers draft. Jason discusses how he feels as though things are looking a bit too good and that something must go wrong eventually due to his superstitions. Jimmy and Hammer then talk about how this roster isn't complete yet and to expect at least a Myles Turner or Malcom Brogdon trade before the season begins. Then as is always the case when Hammer joins the show there was a little bit of NBA draft bet talk to close out the segment. (41:03 – 47:52) – Draft talk continues as Jimmy takes calls regarding the Pacers first round selection in Bennedict Mathurin. (47:53 – 1:12:38) Former NBA Front Office Executive Dan Purcell joins the show to talk about the overall reaction to the NBA Draft. Jimmy asks Purcell if he believes Mathurin will be seen as one of, if not the best, player in this draft. Purcell then credits the Detroit Piston's for managing to finesse Jaden Ivey at the fifth pick in the draft and the chances the New York Knicks made at trying to trade for him during the draft. Jimmy then gets Purcell's take on Brogdon's ability to be traded. (1:12:39 – 1:26:21) – Tony East of Forbes and the “Locked On Pacers Podcast” joins the show to provide a national perspective on yesterday's NBA Draft. East gives his take on what Bennedict Mathurin can provide to the Pacers this season and also touches on the Pacers trading up to acquire Kendall Brown from the Minnesota Timberwolves. Jimmy asks if there were any surprises in how the draft board panned out especially given the lack of trades early on. (1:26:22 – 1:36:09) – Hour three closes out with more on Jimmy's take about the market for Malcom Brogdon. He offers takes on either recruiting younger stars or opening up cap space and earning more draft options going forward. (1:36:10 – 1:58:04) – The Fan morning show host Kevin Bowen of “Kevin & Query” joined the show and discussed his takes on the NBA Draft last night. He shares excitement in the drafting of Bennedict Mathurin, though not on the same level as Jimmy. Then shares his excitement in the Pacers other draft picks in Andrew Nemhard and Kendall Brown. (1:58:05 – 2:09:48) – Jimmy begins by addressing some of the concerns over not attempting to trade up in the draft. He discusses how this era of the Pacers is breaking away from the Paul George and Victor Oladipo motivations and finding a new player to put as the face of your franchise. (2:09:49 – 2:19:55) – Jimmy gives his closing thoughts on the Pacers draft and then throws it to himself for the plays of the day. Jimmy is taking the Yankees over the Astros, the Red Sox money line over the Guardians. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In Episode 1199, Sean Woodley goes solo to answer a whole bunch of listener questions about the Toronto Raptors with the 2022 NBA Draft and free agency quickly on the way. Off the top, Sean addresses a question about Malachi Flynn, and whether the Raptors might be able to package him with the 33rd pick in the draft to move up into the first round. Couple problems with that idea -- does Flynn have much in terms of trade value around the league at all? And are the Raptors really compelled to spend more assets to move back into the range of the draft they already trade out of in the Thad Young deal? Plus, Sean digs into questions about what type of player the Raptors could target with their second-rounder, be it a project player with sky-high upside OR a player with a bit more of a role player projection, considering they already have the star quotient of the team seemingly filled by Scottie Barnes and Pascal Siakam. Other questions include: Could Caleb Houstan be a fit for the Raptors at 33? What's the best way to sift through the noise and get the best insight on prospects going into the draft? And most importantly: is it OK to tweet about Pascal Siakam on your wedding day? Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! The guys take a closer look at the most recent Hoops Hype piece that ranked the trade value for the top 100 players in the league. Yesterday, they talked about where Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons landed on the list. Today, they dive more into Kevin Durant and how he's ranked behind some others that had the guys' scratching their heads. The Lockes on Nets guys talk about how Trae Young and Devin Booker are above Durant on the list, but they also look more closely at how the rest of the 100 shook out.
