Today we participated in Bell Let's Talk Day with Caroline Cheng at RCMP “K” Division. We had questions from a live audience both in person and on line. We discussed the importance of mental health and wellness, different journeys to healthy futures and had some fun with a very serious and important topic.

Last week was #BellLetsTalk day and for the occasion, I wanted to talk about what nobody ever seems to want to talk about. The truth behind even seemingly "successful" diets because my story is NOT unique & we HAVE to stop acting like promoting diets and weight loss is healthy (mentally or otherwise). So, in this episode, I'm again sharing my diet "success" because my story is not unique, varying degrees of it have become the norm and rarely, in discussions about mental health does anyone ever talk about the very real negative mental (and physical) health consequences of dieting and "healthy eating".
Richard Clune has been playing professional hockey for sixteen years. He skates like the wind and has the body strength to hit like a locomotive. Today Richard Clune, whose nickname is Dickie, is the Captain of the Toronto Marlies, the AHL affiliate team of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Sixteen years playing professional hockey is a feat, given the average tenure of an NHL player is 4.5 years, but what makes Richard's story even more remarkable is that Hockey Scouts thought he was too small to play the role of the Agitator, and Mental Illness that manifested itself into substance addiction took over his life. So how did Richard overcome both? His attitude and approach to life. I have known Richard Clune all his life, and I can tell you that he has the heart of a lion, a work ethic that few can match, and the bravery to reach out for help when he needed to. In this raw and moving episode of Chatter that Matters, Richard Clune takes you from his earliest playing days to how he changed his game to make it to the NHL. Richard talks about when his dream was first realized when he was first called up to the NHL and the LA Kings, when all his hard work was being rewarded, his mental state was such that it was the last thing he wanted. Richard chose self-destruction over his skates. Drinking and drugs almost derailed his career and his life. Richard also talks about what it takes to go and remain sober, and in doing so how he fell in love with hockey and life again. Richard has played for the Nashville Predators and the Toronto Maple Leafs and today, for the Marlies, he cherishes his role as a Team Captain and role model to the next generation. And when he does hang up his skates, where will his heart, work ethic and positive attitude take Richard 'Dickie' Clune. You will have to listen to find out. How I became a writer... Part 3 People watching... People speak to me. I love to people watch. Their feelings speak to me. Their body language speaks to me. Their look and emotions speak to me. These simple tools are all available to every one of us. There is no such thing as not having enough content. There are billions of us on the planet and therefore there are billions and billions of stories. I did say that I had no formal training in writing. I did however take a course online from an individual in Connecticut. Now, this was not an online course as we know it today. This was by no means formal schooling of any kind. This was a teacher so to speak who I bumped into online back in 2003. I was writing scripts and soap operas for Indonesian Sinetrons. Sinetrons are like soap operas with much fewer complications and for a simpler audience. But as I was doing this, I came across Larry. I have no idea what his name is, I forgot, so let's call him Larry. Larry was a script coach and not so much a writer of books or poetry. But I did learn a few very insightful lessons from Larry. This was decades... Oh my God, yes decades ago and years away from the term "Work From Home" But as writers, we worked from home. Now Larry had a few quirks and one of them was that even though you work from home you need to go to work. For Larry, words struggled to come out of his head unless he dressed for work. Thus, Larry would get dressed and go to work. He would put on a nice shirt and dress pants along with dress shoes and off he went. Across the hall from one room to another was the office. Once he crossed the threshold to the office, he was ready to work. This was Larry's motivation and his need to put words onto paper. Without it and dressed in shorts and flip-flops the words didn't appear on the page. I am fortunate enough that for me a cup of coffee and peanuts are motivation enough. What works for you? I don't know. What I do know is that for me people-watching brings out emotions. Look at the homeless guy on the streets or the mom and the two kids buying ice cream. At first glance, the two are totally unrelated. But what if the mom is a single mom because her husband took off. What if the homeless dude is the father who couldn't deal with the pressures of life and decided to disconnect from the world? This is the exact reason that there should never be writer's block. If you are stuck on a page or stuck with your character... take a break and look out the window or go to a coffee shop. #BellLetsTalk, #writing #blogger #author #poetry #love #quotes #poetrycommunity #writersofinstagram #poem #writer #poet #life #instagram #lovequotes #poetsofinstagram #quoteoftheday #poems #quote #thoughts #writing #shayari #follow #inspirationalquotes #quotestagram #instagood #motivation #like #writersofig #loveyourself #poetrylovers --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/zsolt-zsemba/message

Borderline and Back: Hope, Management and Resilience for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
It is January 26, 2022 - #belllettstalk day here in Canada. What is Bell Lets Talk Day? So glad you asked! "On Bell Let's Talk Day, Bell will donate more towards mental health initiatives in Canada by contributing 5¢ for every applicable text, call, tweet or TikTok video using #BellLetsTalk, social media video view and use of our Facebook frame or Snapchat lens." More information on this initiative can be found at https://letstalk.bell.ca/en/ This podcast, this day - this initiative has inspired me to live more daringly and to open up about my diagnosis in my personal life. I owe it to each and every one of you to help educate people who know me about BPD - to work on ending the stigma associated with Borderline Personality Disorder by showing people that it isn't scary, we aren't villians. We are people you know, that you work with, and we are extremely loving and capable individuals. In short - thank you all for inspiring me to live authentically, boldly and to be even more vulnerable with people in my life. If you could use #bellletstalk just once today, it would mean the world to me. ~ Maggie --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/borderlineandback/message

Inspired by #BellLetsTalk day, I wanted to share a bit about my own mental health and personal development journey. In April 2020, shortly after the pandemic hit North America, in the stress and chaos of it all, I experienced a manic episode, was hospitalized for a few weeks, and received a diagnosis of Bipolar I Disorder. I haven't found a lot of pleasant, hopeful, and uplifting, resources out there about Bipolar, so I hope this can be both educational and also inspirational for you in your own mental well-being journey.I haven't found a lot of pleasant, hopeful, and uplifting, resources out there about Bipolar, so I hope this can be both educational and also inspirational for you in your own mental well-being journey.I will dive into what Bipolar is, how I experience it, and what others can do to support those who have it (or really any mental/emotional condition). The definition I read on Bipolar is from the National Institute of Mental Health from the US and can be found here.If you are in Manitoba, the Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba is a great first resource to educate and support you and your loved ones in mental health. If you or someone you know is struggling with depression or self-harming thoughts reach out for support. It's an annual promotion from Bell, a telcom company in Canada. Every year it overflows into American hockey. We'll never forget Maneet, and I want to continue to do whatever I can to help people find the support they need to get the help they need so we don't have to hear about losing any more friends or members of this community. The Patreon version also went into detail about the LSSU series, the state of the Pairwise and previewed the NMU series. Whether you’re depressed or not, none of us are operating in perfect mental health. And in any case, we all need to be better educated for those around us who may be struggling and for whom we might make a difference. Lewis Page, successful and respected soccer coach, loved father, husband, friend, and all-around popular and healthy guy, does not fit one’s typical image of what depression looks like. Yet he lives with it.Hear how shocked people were to see his 2016 Bell Let’s Talk Day video in which he revealed his struggle, and the overwhelming reaction that he couldn’t have been prepared for. Then learn about his most recent video, in which he shares his current state of successful dealing with depression, including all the reasons why. In this outstanding interview, Lewis tells us how the “silent thief” steals one’s joy, energy, and ambition, but then how to employ tools and practices to live happily in spite of mental health problems. Learn something for yourself and for those around you, because “every action matters.”Find Lewis on Twitter: https://twitter.com/lewispage6Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3rj9aZ94rYLearn more at https://matthewboulton.ca/ or https://www.facebook.com/matthewboulton.ca/

The boys discuss how anxiety can effect your business performance, as well as corporations dog whistling for mental health. Alcohol Beyond This Point is a new podcast hosted by booze baron and lifetime entrepreneur Willows Christopher and operations extraordinaire Tyler Bergen; two young Canadian business guys who work out their problems with alcohol. Herodotus, the Greek historian, reported that the ancient Persians tended to deliberate on important matters while they were drunk. They then reconsidered their decisions the following day when they were sober. I f it happened that their first deliberation took place when they were sober, they would always reconsider the matter under the influence of wine.
