The squad joins The Cult of Thorn and celebrates the year's festivities with HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS (1995)! There's no way a franchise can go off the rails in its sixth instalment, right? Was this a proper goodbye to Dr. Loomis? And, what was Paul Rudd thinking!? Rory and EJ have successfully traveled through time to a point before a werewolf tore young Vince apart! Although Vince is alive, his werewolf curse remains for some reason, and worst yet, he's infested with fleas! In hopes of lifting the curse, the gang visits their DRUID CULT friends, Matthew Renaldi and Adam Farley, in hopes of curing the filthy fleabag with some good old-fashioned dark magic while discussing the polarizing 90's extravaganza, “HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS!”
On this edition of Parallax Views, legendary faneditor LastSurvivor joins the show to discuss the horror movie fan edits he's made over the years and the art of the horror edit. Some of LastSurvivor's fanedits include: THE NIGHT OF SAMHAIN - An ambitious fanedit that combines HALLOWEEN III: SEASON OF THE WITCH and HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS into one movie in a very unique way! HALLOWEEN: THE NIGHT OF THE BOOGEYMAN - An attempt to edit John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN and HALLOWEEN II into one movie, BUT with around a 90 minute running time common for many movies and slasher films of the 80s. JAW II: THE AMITY HORROR - An edit that attempts to bring out the more slasher-esque elements of JAWS II; the shark is a lot like Jason Voorhees in JAWS II with the setting being the ocean rather than the woods JAWS III: MONSTER - An ambitious edit of JAW III that amps up the B-movie disaster movie element of JAWS III and, amazingly, adds in a new monster to fight Jaws in the finale: Jaws vs. Octopus! FRIDAY THE 13TH PART V: JASON'S LEGACY - An edit of FRIDAY THE 13TH PART V that, through color regrading and trimming of scenes, brings the movie more in line with Joseph Zito's much beloved entry in the cult franchise, FRIDAY THE 13TH PART IV: THE FINAL CHAPTER. HALLOWEEN 5: THE SHAPE OF RAGE and HALLOWEEN HOMECOMING - Two fanfix fanedits that attempt to address the problems of HALLOWEEN 5: THE REVENGE OF MICHAEL MYERS and HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION to make both movies a better viewing experience for fans of the Michael Myers saga! We also discuss the wild JAWS: THE SHARKSPLOITATION edit that faneditor TheManBehindTheMask did (it's literally a grindhouse version of Jaws with an insane twist at the end), David Gordon Green's Halloween trilogy, editing Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN and HALLOWEEN II, the character of Tina in Halloween 5, color regrading and color correction in fanedits, the opening credits of HALLOWEEN 4: THE RETURN OF MICHAEL MYERS, Halloween's Thorn trilogy and similarties with the Druid cult storyline in HALLOWEEN III: SEASON OF THE WITCH, the role of pacing in edits, and much, much more!
It's Halloween, kiddos, and that can only mean one thing - murderous relatives! That's right, it's the spookiest day of the year and One Dark Fright is celebrating by finishing up our epic conversation on HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS (1995). This one takes a serious look at what the runes actually mean, highlights some of Michael Myers' decorative craftiness, and we also try to figure how much electricity it would take to blow up a human head. There's a lot of head-scratching and theorizing as we bring this baby to a close. Holy Haddonfield...it's almost Halloween, kids! The air is crisp, the leaves are changing, and the stores are stocked with candy, which can only mean one thing - the One Dark Fright crew is on the scene with Part 1 of a special Halloween episode tackling the oft-discussed, much maligned HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS (1995)! We went all-in for this sixth installment in the vaunted franchise and lived to tell the tale. Along the way we discuss deadbeat grandpas, rescue nurses, terrifying home appliances, Smith's Grove Sanitarium's advanced Driver's Ed program, a beefier Michael Myers, and we officially induct another member into The Goblin Club. We also swoon at the final appearance of Dr. Loomis and the first appearance of Paul Stephen Rudd, debate the likelihood of ANYONE living in the Myers' house after all these years, and try to decide if Barry Simms is the most popular talk radio host of all-time. "Terror Never Rests in Peace". We continue our murderous parade through the exploits, the escapades, and the eviscerations of the one and only Michael Myers with a truly unique entry in horror franchise canons. The 6th Halloween film was much contested among its creatives as the production rights came into dispute, and the Haddonfield slasher came under new management at Dimension Films. This led to drastically different visions for the latest installment and, eventually, drastically different films. So this week, we are examining both cuts in dialogue with each other: the Theatrical version which was definitive for many years, and the famed Producer's Cut released a few years ago which restores the original creative vision for the story. So kick back, relax, and enjoy this laugh-filled discussion about a distinctly fascinating entry in the horror genre. Also featuring a Patron-only segment on The Simpsons TREEHOUSE OF HORROR III, this is a fun and brisk conversation that we're sure you'll enjoy.Patron Only Segment: THE SIMPSONS: Treehouse of Horror 3 #tvguideposts7:24 - HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS, Theatrical & Producer's CutsSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Matt & Eric endure the stupidity of HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS while also enduring the cutthroat cruelty of more David Zaslav/HBO Max/WB BS. Plus, a new live-action KONG series is in the works!
On this edition of Parallax Views, we've got a monster-sized treat of an episode to help you get in the spirit of the spooky season as Halloween approaches. Have you ever wondered about the movie magic that's employed to make some of your favorite horror movies? What are the behind-the-scenes secrets of special effects (SFX) and make-up effects (MUFX) in such frightful franchises as HELLRAISER, HALLOWEEN, CANDYMAN, BLADE, MY BLOODY VALENTINE, FEAST, THE EXORCIST, PUMKPKINHEAD, and PIRANHA? Joining us to shed light on that is a legend of the special make-up effects world and a true maestro of the macabre: Gary J. Tunnicliffe. He's worked on all the above-named properties and much more designing iconic kills and monsters in a massive slew of cinematic scarefests over the years and has many stories to tell in this previously unpublished conversation that run over 2+ hours and, hopefully, is a fascinating, rollicking ride throughout. Gary and I discuss how he got into make-up effects, applying make-up effects on Doug Bradley to bring to life the character of Pinhead in the Hellraiser movies, the trials and tribulations of applying make-up to actors for hours at a time, creating the climatic effects for Stephen Dorff's demise in BLADE, a gross-out story from Gary's puppeteering work on PIRANHA 3DD, designing kills in movies like HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS (and being brought in for reshoots on already complete movies like the aforementioned film), CGI and deep fakes, designing creatures like PUMPKINHEAD and the cenobite Angelique in HELLRAISER: BLOODLINE, working for colorful producer Bob Weinstein at Dimension Films, the making of a grisly, gory kill in Patrick Lussier's MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D, Gary's work on Renny Harlin's EXORCIST: THE BEGINNING, Gary's interpretation of Clive Barker's HELLRAISER, working with David Fincher on GONE GIRL, putting bees on actor Tony Todd in one of the CANDYMAN movies, and much, much more!
PUBLIC VERSION. Filmmaker Chad Ferrin (H.P. LOVECRAFT'S THE DEEP ONES, UNSPEAKABLE, THE GHOULS, EASTER BUNNY KILL KILL!) joins Adam, Joe, and Arwen to discuss his career journey. From growing up on a farm… to his move out West where he worked as a PA on films like HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS and HELLRAISER: BLOODLINE… to his brief time with Troma Entertainment… to selling his house to finance his first feature film UNSPEAKABLE… to his incredible 20 year run of making films happen his way and waiting for permission from no one… Chad's story is one that's sure to inspire every DIY filmmaker out there who's tired of playing games and ready to start shooting! Dr. Arwen provides “Hollywood Therapy” for an up and coming filmmaker with the age old dilemma of trying to find financing and Chad shares one of his own trade secrets on putting a budget together in this extremely candid conversation.
Halloween comes early as Josh and Liz return to Haddonfield for another installment with HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS (1995).The two try to make sense of this mess with the timelessness of Paul Stephen Rudd, Wild Hogs, and Baby Think It Over. In this week's episode Dave and Paul try and outdo each other again with their Shitemare selections. We kick things off with Bordello of Blood easily the crappest selection from Dave since the notorious Double Dragon episode. They talk Tales From the Crypt, the tyranny of Dennis Miller and why nobody wanted to be friends with Corey Feldman. Not to be outdone, Paul picks one of his favourites and everybody else's most hated installment of the Halloween franchise...Halloween The Curse of Michael Myers. They talk the theatrical cut vs the producers cut, a little known actor named Paul Rudd and two of the worst characters in slasher movie history. This week, as our month-long HALLOWEEN series continues, we're once again joined by guests Myles Griffin and John-Paul Newton to discuss one of the most controversial entries in the entire series, 1995's HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS. This entry has long been derided by fans, and had a long history of production woes, resulting in not one, but two separate versions of the film. The infamous Producer's Cut was traded on shoddy bootleg VHS tapes among horror collectors for years before finally being officially released on blu ray a couple of years ago. In this episode, as we get into the behind-the-scenes stories on the film, we'll also examine both of these cuts to determine which (if either) is more worthwhile. Next week, our HALLOWEEN series concludes (sorta!) with HALLOWEEN H20: 20 YEARS LATER. We'd love to hear your thoughts!
