In this episode of the Houndsman XP podcast, the boys renew a longtime friendship with Louisiana's Mike Cauley, best known for the successful exploits of his Bayou Cajun Plott Hound pack on wild hogs and on bears, both the blacks of the Northwoods of the US and Canada and the giant browns of Sweden.Cauley primarily hunts hogs in the swamps and bayous of southeastern Louisiana where he has caught hundreds of the species over the years. He has also made three trips to Sweden to hunt the country's huge brown bears after shipping several Plott Hounds to hunters there. One of the bears taken with Cauley-bred Plotts ranks fourth among Sweden's largest trophy bears. Cauley's experiences hunting brown bears in Sweden are thoroughly examined.Discussions move to questions about why he chose hogs as his game of choice and why he chose the Plott breed over other breeds of hounds. An in-depth discussion evolves concerning the bulldog's role in hunting hogs, what makes a good catch dog and how hounds and bulldogs are trained to work together. Cauley's favorite bloodlines of bulldogs and curs used for catching dangerous wild boars are also explored. Our hosts implore Cauley to describe the typical Deep South hog hunt with dogs, the type of territory he hunts and the type of equipment he uses on the hunt. Cauley also discusses the advantages and the pitfalls of using the same dogs on hogs and bears. Realizing many of the hogs Cauley catches are taken alive, additional questions emerge about how hogs are caught and what are the risks to hunter and hound. An exciting story of Trapper and the junkyard hog helps to make this inaugural episode on hog hunting one that listeners will surely enjoy.Release Date: 10-20-19 ►Get Your Houndsman XP Info, Gear & More Here!www.HoundsmanXP.com►Become a Patron of Houndsman XP! The majority of The Good Brothers are back for this episode, but much to ChatGPTs delight, this is in fact a "Levi is gone" episode. I know you're scanning this description right now, so now you know you will like this episode. You're welcome. I'm gonna make this description very simple for you folks. There are 3 brothers this week but only 5 major topics. Holes, an update on our Family Feud Edition, Entertainment Tonight, Wild Hogs, and ChatGPT. Well, strap in folks. This one's almost two hours. Are you ready to rediscover the 2007 not-so-classic, 'Wild Hogs,' and ready to laugh out loud? Don't miss out as we go beyond the ridiculous camping scene and the offensive humor to dissect the controversial moments and hilarious antics of John Travolta, Tim Allen, William H Macy, and Martin Lawrence. It's a roller-coaster ride as we dive into mid-life crises, motorcycles, and the dynamics between the characters, especially Doug and his step-kid.We ask the tough, hard hitting questions like: How long would a Cincinnati to Arizona road trip on a motorcycle really take? or do people really ride without helmets? Join us as we explore these major mishaps and plot holes in the movie, along with some classic video game talks and the merits of butter and sour cream, seriously. We also share an unforgettable moment when Dr. Drew walked in on us doing comedy. As we round up our discussion, we delve into the movie's most glaring inconsistencies and somewhat confusing character development and we finish off by reflecting on the ultimate lesson the characters learn in the movie. We believe in rewarding oneself after a job well done. You've earned your laugh, so tune in and enjoy.Be our friend!Dan: @shakybaconTony: @tonydczechAnd follow the podcast on IG: @hatewatchingDAT

A lot to harvest and hold onto on this episode of Huntavore. Nick had the pleasure of digitally sitting down with Jesse to talk about seasonal foods and Wild Hogs. In Texas, seasonality is key. When it's in season and growing, take advantage. When the season is over and the heat of summer comes, those precious produce or proteins will be drying up. He talks about his restaurant, Dai Due and how when farmers are producing, that is the time to bring in the great produce, and then to spread the love, preserving that bounty is key. Pickling, drying, freezing, you name it. Meat is similar in that Jesse's menu will adapt to what the rancher has available. That nose to tail doesn't have to stay in the house, but nose to tail can extend to the entire community. To finish up, Nick does want to talk wild pigs. Jesse explains like it that pigs are so variable from one pig to the next, and even season to season. No water, limited food and graze, the product at that point will be gamey.
