What kind of God gets down on the floor to wash feet? Today we look at Jesus doing the unthinkable—serving instead of being served. With a towel and a basin, He redefines greatness and reveals what God is really like. Would God actually choose humility over power? Why does Jesus serve even those He knows will fail Him? What if greatness isn't climbing higher, but stooping lower? In John 13:1-20 we find a picture of a God who kneels—and invites us to rethink everything we believe about power, worth, and love.

Introduction  Two psalms with a long association with the Passover.  Jesus likely sang them on the night he was betrayed.  God's Condescending Grace (Psalm 113).  God's Redeeming Grace (Psalm 114).  Conclusion  Faith brings Christ into focus.  Praise the Lord – Be a Joyful Christian in song, service, prayer and proclamation.  Please the Lord – Be a Humble Servant not grumbling or complaining, not doubting God's promises, not grieving the Holy Spirit.  Promote the Lord – Be a Faithful Witness share the Gospel, and support mission and outreach.

What Paul does in Philippians 2 is unfold Jesus’ heart that impacts his service and actions. And he uses a hymn to do it. What we have this morning is a gripping song that tells the wonder of Christ. But then he reveals a great reversal that the Father ensures leads to the worship of the entire creation. And so the big ask of us is this: Imitate Jesus’s example and worship Him as the humble servant over all.

Pastor Gerrit Hoeks continues our study through 1 Samuel with chapters 18 and 19. In this message, we see the contrast between King Saul and David. Saul becomes the “rotten king,” consumed by jealousy, pride, and fear of losing his throne. David is the humble servant who trusts God, serves faithfully, and is protected by the Lord even when Saul seeks his life. This teaching highlights how envy leads to destruction, how humility leads to blessing, and how God's presence gives courage and victory.

Moore was “enraged” by the fact that there will be so many non-Christians who will watch the CNN interview and think that “this is Christianity.” Now I do grant that what I am talking about is not Christianity Today.
