A Sunday morning sermon by Pastor Brett Deal. Have you ever heard a great song or watched an incredible movie then afterwards learned the inspiration for it, and it made it all the more powerful? Years ago, Elise and I were in a little art shop in a mall. Among all the large and impressive art for sale, there was a fairly small oil replica of Vincent van Gogh's Sunflowers. So simple. Flowers in a vase. I walked out with that little framed painting for my office. Later I learned Van Gogh painted the original to display in a room to show his gratefulness for his friend, Paul Gauguin, who was moving in with him. The painting was more than just vibrant impasto colors of liberal oil paint. The paint was more than just a still life of top-heavy sunflowers. The painting was friendship, closeness, gratitude. Psalm 102 is a powerful song we can sing in the valley. It is a song of suffering held deeply in the heart of the singer. Not wanting this to be missed, the compilers of Israel's song book kept a short superscript before the lyrics. It is one of a kind. The superscript of 102 is the only one in Psalms which, according to Rolf Jacobson “describes a psalm as intended for a particular instance in a person's life.” Psalm 102 is Van Gogh's sunflower with the backstory of gratitude. This fifth penitential psalm is at first glance a moving song of sorrow and shadow. It is does not hide its suffering. But holding gently the superscript at the beginning brings a deeper resonance: “A prayer of an afflicted person who has grown weak and pours out a lament before the Lord.” There is a backstory. There is an affliction that has left the voice parched and in pain. This lament is sung from the little remaining, the last drops of oil in the widow's jar, the rasping voice of the thirsty soul. Like the sunflowers, it is a song for someone…and that someone is divine. He is enthroned on high. He is God Almighty. He is the eternal Father, merciful and compassionate. He is the Sovereign King, who builds and rebuilds. He is the Lord who hears our prayers sung in the darkness and responds with the radiance of hope.
We are used to kings who use their power to their advantage, see their position as a way to get what is best for them, and whose power is limited. But Jesus is not like other kings. Jesus uses His power and position to serve and sacrifice, and even death cannot stop His reign. Jesus is more than just a savior, He is a king like no other. No other ruler has ever proven themselves to be sovereign over death. Plenty have tried, but no one is like King Jesus. His power over death is your hope, because His victory over death means death doesn't have to be the end of your story—if you will submit to Him as king. Passage: 1 Corinthians 15:21-26 Speaker: Kevin Stiles

Hi Friends,Today in our series we explore what Estes refers to as “The Harrowing of the Soul.” This is the phase in our journey when we begin to look with great discernment at our inner masculine and feminine. Our purpose is to ultimately embody our Sovereign King and Queen, but we must learn how to alchemize the attending fear and doubt, as represented by the Devil's toxic messages in our tale. Join us as we navigate this very important stage.Musical selection: Voices by Patrick Patrikios.Donations: http://paypal.com/paypalme/LoriGreenPodcast --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/lori-green2/support
Today, our Senior Pastor, Pastor Femi Paul, brought us God's Word in a message he entitled "All, by the Leading of God." Taking reference from Matthew 2:1-12 (NKJV), he highlighted the journey of the wise men who followed God's leading: "They were led as they went! They were led as they left!" Matthew 2:9b-10 (MSG) beautifully illustrates this: "Then the star appeared again, the same star they had seen in the eastern skies. It led them on until it hovered over the place of the child. They could hardly contain themselves: They were in the right place! They had arrived at the right time!" Pastor Femi emphasised that under God's leading, the wise men were directed to the right place and arrived at the right time. Their obedience and guidance turned them into "stars" themselves, led by the ultimate Star, the Sovereign King born in a manger.
● Because God is Sovereign, he is able to do what he wants, when he wants. ● Someone or something will be the king of your life. ● Who should be your king? ● Psalm 47 1 Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy. ● 2 For the Lord Most High is awesome, the great King over all the earth. ● 3 He subdued nations under us, peoples under our feet. ● 4 He chose our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob, whom he loved.[b] ● Have you ever asked God to choose your inheritance for you? ● What does it mean to receive inheritance from the king? It means you are His child! ● The King is not stingy but he is generous. The King is not passive but he is active. The King is not careless but he is protective. ● 5 God has ascended amid shouts of joy the Lord amid the sounds of trumpets ● The house of our King won't go down! ● 6-7, sing praises to God, sing praises; ● sing praise to our king, sing praises. ● For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of Praise. ● We are made to praise. ● 8 God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne. ● 9 The nobles of the nations assemble as the people of the God of Abraham, for the kings[c] of the earth belong to God; he is greatly exalted. ● All other kings are measured by their faithfulness to the true King ● The world's kings are either temporary or soul crushing. ● Jesus is not a king who rules from a distance, but one who comes close, knows us by name, and leads us to eternal life. ● Who is your true king? ● There is a sovereign king, true royalty. He wants you. In this episode, Fr. John and Mary reflect on the hopeful news that the world is ultimately in the hands of a Sovereign King who is good, has no rival, proven His love for us by laying down His life, and who calls us even now to help transform authority until He returns and makes all things new. As we continue our exposition of the book of Acts, we explore in this sermon Christ's final in-person words to His disciples followed by His ascension to the right hand of the Father. Through these 6 verses, it is made very clear who we are in this world. The church is a people defined wholly by Christ. We are a people with: A Present Focus, A Divine Empowerment, A Clear Identity, A Sovereign King, and A Certain Hope.
We often forget how transcendent God is, and try to think of him and related him as if he was on our level. We need to see God as high and lifted up and our hopelessness before him, unless he makes a way for our salvation. Scripture: Isaiah 6:1-7

BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU: In the month of Assu, my love for the Lord overwhelms me. How can I go and meet the Lord? My mind and body are so thirsty for the Blessed Vision of His Darshan. Won't someone please come and lead me to him, O my mother. The Saints are the helpers of the Lord's lovers; I fall and touch their feet. Without God, how can I find peace? There is nowhere else to go. Those who have tasted the sublime essence of His Love, remain satisfied and fulfilled. They renounce their selfishness and conceit, and they pray, “God, please attach me to the hem of Your robe.” Those whom the Husband Lord has united with Himself, shall not be separated from Him again. Without God, there is no other at all. Nanak has entered the Sanctuary of the Lord. In Assu, the Lord, the Sovereign King, has granted His Mercy, and they dwell in peace. || 8 || --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/gsjhampur/support

Genesis 10:1-11:9 | Gavin Hesse | With the story of Noah and the Flood behind us, the story of Noah's descendants has only just begun. No surprise to the readers of Gensis' early chapters, we once again find mankind brazenly rebelling against the God of heaven and earth.MAIN IDEAGod is our Sovereign King.OUTLINEI. God will multiply his people (vv. 1-32)II. God's power is bigger than man's pride (vv. 1-9)DISCUSSION QUESTIONS1. What stands out about the genealogy in Genesis 10:1-32? What does the author add, comment on, or point out that seems important?2. What repeated words or phrases are there in the genealogy? How do these frame the generations listed and reveal the meaning of the genealogy?3. What is the real issue with the story of the tower of Babel? Is the problem simply their intention to build a large building?4. How does this passage reveal to you your sin? How do you tend to rebel against God in favor of making a name for yourself?

Looking back at the times in the past when God has moved through you or came through for you or blessed you is important to remember when you're facing new trials in the present. He's more to Christians than just a means to material wealth or fame. In fact, as Pastor Bill's going to point out today, it's usually quite the opposite. Following God can be hard, and even bring hard times to you, but there's always good to be found in any situation in God's timing if you keep your focus on Him.

How do you live your life for Christ? Is it evident that He's Who your hope is in for eternity? Does your life look different than those around you that haven't been touched by Jesus yet? Today, Pastor Bill's going to show you that Job's life looked a lot different, even when his blessings were taken away. He continued to praise God and showed that He was much more to Job than just a way to acquire material blessings here on earth. Job had complete faith and trust in God for everything, including eternity.

While you're living on the earth, there's one thing your focus should be on. There's one place you should keep in mind in every decision you make. Today, Pastor Bill's going to remind you that God is so much more than just the blessing you can get out of Him. He's the ultimate source of joy and peace in your heart, and He alone can give you eternal life with Him in Heaven. He should be a part of all areas of your life, not just when times get hard or you need His help to afford that next vacation.

When Tess Wolthuis and I sat down to talk, the air buzzed with an unmistakable charge of both joy and solemnity. Tess, a beacon of faith and unity within the American Church, and a treasured family friend who stood by my wife in her darkest hours, brings a perspective on discipleship that is as refreshing as it is profound. Our conversation wove through the fabric of community, identity challenges in today's youth, and the profound impact of parenting guided by grace and truth. You're about to step into a heart-to-heart where the stakes are eternal, and the victories, like Tess's daughter's D1 Beach Volleyball successes, are celebrated with genuine delight.Have you ever considered how trials, like a cancer diagnosis, might deepen your spiritual roots and reforge familial bonds? The journey is never easy, but Tess and I open up about our personal walks through the valley of shadows and how facing mortality has the paradoxical power to ignite a fiercer zest for life and faith. We then cast our gaze outward, to the collective experience of the church, discussing the invaluable role of community in sustaining and enriching our relationship with Jesus, and how practices like journaling and physical exercise serve as the backbone for personal and spiritual fortitude. As the episode unfolds, we traverse the rich and complex terrain of caring for the mind and body as an act of worship, understanding our physical selves as temples for the Holy Spirit. Tess's engaging narrative will inspire you to consider how nurturing your gifts, like hospitality, can profoundly contribute to the Kingdom. Finally, we stand in awe of the American Reformation's spirit, a call to action that is both a reflection of divine love and a roadmap for leading others from darkness to light in the embrace of Jesus as our Sovereign King. The church on mission values: The GOSPEL with boldness. The WORD in front of the world. The KINGDOM of the Sovereign King. The COMMUNITY of the people of God.
A Sunday teaching by youth from Eternity: Chadwick, Kezzie, Daphne, Ruby. This Advent we gather around the fire, listening to the storytellers and watching the children play. There is something so real and refreshing about watching children play. Our days can become so encumbered with hurry and worry. And then, against the glowing light of the fire, we see the children around us. Some are engrossed in the words of the storyteller; some are carefully crafting masterworks of art from that loose thread you've been meaning to fix;…still others are off spinning like tops! Ah, the bliss of innocence! This week we have the distinct joy of being led by our young people in worship. The children of our church will direct us in our songs of praise and worship. They will guide us in prayer. They will revitalize our recollection of the nativity story, just as the angel's song enlivened the shepherds in the fields! Our youth will lead us in the study of God's Word. They will challenge us to receive the witness of Scripture that testifies of our Sovereign King, our Immanuel, God with us. May we throw off all the cumbersome cares and strife that keep us from worship as we prepare with anticipation to see the Christ child in the manger. Beloved friends, our young brothers and sisters in Christ - still wrapped in youth and childhood - will extend to us the symbols of our Savior as we gather to take the bread and the cup. Friends, as we take Luke's good news to heart (Luke 2.1-20) and partake of the Lord's table, may we be overwhelmed with praise. May this be our reverent response: Thanks be to God!
Pastor Parsley celebrates God's holiest day – the great Day of Atonement that foreshadowed our Savior's sacrifice on Calvary's cross – and shares the glorious implications of the new year 5784 on God's celestial calendar.
EP 11.443 | This Christmas we rejoice in the gift of a Sovereign King who rules and reigns over all!
In our final week of our Christmas Remix series, we look at Jesus as both an innocent baby and a Sovereign King. Do we see him as both? Neither? Why is it important for our every day lives to see Jesus as both?
One key reason Christians shy away from some of the psalms is the sometimes violent imprecatory language found in them. In this article, Scott Aniol explains that psalms like these are deeply rooted in confidence that God is the Sovereign King of Kings, and therefore to sing them helps form within us a hope-filled longing for the Return of the King.

This message is based on Isaiah 6 and is a consideration of the call of Isaiah to be God's prophet, with a reading and explanation of the text. We see Isaiah's personal experience of encountering God in his holiness as Sovereign King of the universe resulting in his conviction of guilt and need for divine cleansing. Then from a position of a provided atonement he hears and answers the call of God to be his special prophet. What kind of commission is this when he is informed that people will not listen and repent so judgment is decreed? But in the midst of wrath and judgment God remembers mercy in accord with his covenant promises to send the Seed who is Jesus the Messiah.Bible Insights with Wayne ConradContact: 8441 Hunnicut Rd Dallas, Texas 75228email: Att. In today's podcast episode I dive deep int all the ways I love serving the Divine Masculine, especially in my private containers. Over the years my work has evolved and lately I have found myself working with powerful men who are ready to come into union. I see men in their most vulnerable which has really given me so much respect and compassion for their journey to partnership. It takes a powerful, courageous and confident man to fully embody the King archetype and claim his Queen. And the path is not always easy. In my work I have seen first hand the insecurities and limitations that keep men stuck and away from the love they so deeply deserve. Some of topics I discuss around supporting the divine masculine include: -Creating an identity rooted in confidence, love and authenticity -Helping them heal and release limitations around love and partnership -Helping them feel connected to their heart and use it as a compass -How to be a co-creative force with the universe -The power of decision and deciding they get to be with an incredible queen in union -Holding a higher frequency of love -Accessing more courage, integrity and freedom in relationship So if you're a powerful queen wanting to know where her king is, he is out here praying for you, doing the deep inner work so he can hold you and love you the way you want to be loved.
