Jimmy Diresta is the MAN! Currently seen on NETFLIX' Making Fun, Jimmy is an inventor, fabricator, businessman and raconteur, and we had a heck of a time talking about his days in the toy business, making a television show, and working with Nick Offerman. www.talkandrockpod.com"The Trews. The first time I intentionally listened to them I already felt so familiar with lots of their hits. I guess through being raised on Canadian rock radio (although I am quite young) The Trews must of had their fair share of play and I must have unintentionally listened to their tunes quite a bit. I was more than honoured to have John-Angus MacDonald of The Trews on the show to talk about the band's new record and more."thetrewsmusic.com- GMH© 2021 Talk and Rock With GMH

The very first episode of The Boxing Betting Show. We get underway with a look ahead to the weekend's action, which includes Dubois-Gorman, Brant-Murata II, and much more. With special guest John Angus MacDonald, writer for Boxing Monthly and Boxing Scene.
John Angus MacDonald, lead guitarist of The Trews, joins the show to discuss the bands latest album Civilianaires. Civilianaires is the start of a new book in the tales of the group, as it is the first release after their 2016 self curated greatest (at that time) hits album. It shows a strong push towards new elements and growth, with the band bringing in youthful energy and fresh collaborators. Civilianaires seems to be a natural evolution, one The Trews themselves feel was necessary, continuing to hold true to their strengths while finding new ways to build and compliment them. "The Trews' John-Angus McDonald Says Brothers In Bands Will Always Work It Out" And he should know. After all, The Trews' guitar player John-Angus has been in a band with his brother Colin for most of his life. Whether it’s Oasis, The Black Crowes or The Kinks, John-Angus tells Alex that brothers will always work it out no matter what. Although the Kinks have indeed reformed, the jury’s still out on his other two picks. However, the jury is not out on The Trews’ new album Civilianaires. The verdict? It’s a straight-up killer. A blistering batch of breathy muscle (“Vintage Love”), crunchy stomp (“Time's Speeding Up”) and stadium sing-a-longs (“Bar Star”), the band’s sixth album is further proof that the Trews refuse to make the same record twice and are always moving boldly forward. John-Angus talks about the resignation of the band’s longtime drummer Sean Dalton, growing up listening to Guns n’ Roses and The Trews’ habit of post-show analysis. He also tells Alex about R.E.M., fatherhood and having a piano-playing grandmother who was considered the best musician in Nova Scotia.
HOLD ME.... IN YOUR ARMS!!!!! Matt is gonna lose his mind. John Angus MacDonald, of The Trews fame, joins Barry and Matt to talk about the upcoming release of their latest album Civilianaires. The boys chat about the band's conscious decision to go in a different direction and chart the band's history from the perspective of a member of the band. John Angus talks about working with super producers and he and Barry gush about The Beatles and then gush some more. Its a Lennon/McCartney love in. The tail end of the interview gets political, with John Angus getting into the band's stance on Trump. The bleep button comes out! Crazy Stories talks horrific mating rituals in the animal kingdom and vandalism with bodily waste. A Pause for Thought gets kissy. In My Life strikes out. A Desert Island disc gets classic. All that and more. Trew dat.
It’s hard to believe that it was just over a year ago that Suzi Kory recorded her first songs with producer John Angus MacDonald of Canadian rockers The Trews. Since then, she has played the Whisky a Go-Go in Hollywood, opening for LA Guns as well as having played a festival in Brazil ! In less then a year, Suzi has made a name for herself in Los Angeles as well as back home in Toronto and has Canadian Music insiders taking notice. As a mother of two teenage boys with a full-time job as a Customer Service Manager its hard to believe she still has time to be a Rockstar, but is she is proving how it can be done! Suzi is currently working with producer Brent Woods in Los Angeles on a full length album and has her sights set on no less then a Grammy come 2020. On this episode of She Rises, Host Giovanna Capozzaspeaks with Suzy Kory, member of the band the True’s and full-time customer service manager and mother of two. Suzy talks about how she became a rock star in her 40’s. When Suzy told her parents she wanted to be a performer at a young age, they were not at all open to that. When she got married and had kids, everything she had planned for herself got put to the wayside. You have to take the first step of making your path clear and taking small actions to achieve your goal. Suzy tells the story of how she met Axl Rose from Guns N’ Roses. If she can achieve something people thought was crazy, everything else is within reach. Anything is possible if your faith, courage, and conviction is aligned in your soul. Suzy got to meet Steven Tyler and spend time with his entourage – this was when she realized she was manifesting these amazing experiences. People often tell her she’s so lucky, but she’s working constantly – people don’t see what goes on in the background. Whatever you plan can come back way better than your original plan. When you take a step forward in faith the universe gives you your desires and then some. You don’t have to take your passion on a public level, you can do it just for yourself. Tweetable Quotes Who we are is who we are, and our parents can’t change that about us. A little bit of our soul dies when we don’t honor our calling. When you make that realization that you are the one who decides where your life is going, that’s when all the doors open. When you’re fulfilling yourself, the rest of your life lights up. This week's show is a bit of a stylistic roller coaster, featuring performer/songwriter John Southworth, Quebec-based hardcore outfit Obey the Brave, and Kingston rock quintet The Glorious Sons. Southworth is set to drop his latest LP, a double album called Niagara that's divided into a Canadian and American side, at the end of September. We speak about how the album took shape as well as some of his other artistic endavours and how they correlate. Obey The Brave, comprised of ex members of Blind Witness and Despised Icon, released their second full-length effort Salvation mid-September. We speak with vocalist Alex Erian about the band's progress since their debut, Young Blood, as well as the current state of the hardcore scene. Finally, the boys of Glorious Sons are fresh off the release of their debut full-length The Union, produced in tandem with John-Angus MacDonald of The Trews and the one and only Gavin Brown (Billy Talent, Three Days Grace). We get the scoop on the band's success thus far and some of their upcoming plans.
