On "EWTN News Nightly" tonight: While pro-life advocates are continuing to celebrate the Texas Heartbeat Act, the Biden administration is not. President Joe Biden released a blistering statement saying the Supreme Court's ruling overnight is an unprecedented assault on a woman's constitutional rights under Roe v Wade. Meanwhile, lawmakers on Capitol Hill continue to say that getting Americans out of Afghanistan is their top priority. Editorial Director at the Daily Caller, Vince Coglianese, joins to share his thoughts on those Americans left behind in Afghanistan and how this will play out politically for President Biden. And the Vatican has just started its 5 week "season of creation". Coordinator of the Sector of Ecology and Creation at the Vatican Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, Father Joshtrom Isaac Kureethadam, joins to share what some of the projects the Vatican is working on during this season of creation are. Finally this evening, US military forces have been protecting Christians in Iraq, but the recent exit from Afghanistan has caused concern about what may happen to religious minorities if the US also leaves Iraq. Nobel Peace Prize nominee and President of the Iraqi Christian Relief Council, Juliana Taimoorazy, joins to tell us a little bit more about her organization and what inspired her to go into this work. In the place where the Prince of Peace was born there is little peace and much persecution of the followers of the Prince of Peace. Our special guest will be: Juliana Taimoorazy of the Iraqi Christian Relief Council.
No people group on earth has lived in their homeland quite as long as the Assyrians of northern Iraq. This small tribe has suffered millennia of persecution, but for the entire church age have embraced Jesus Christ as their Lord. But today, through the actions of Islamic purists running amok, the Assyrians are barely hanging onto their lives and land. Many have fled to other countries, and many have died. In this rich interview with Juliana Taimoorazy, herself an Assyrian Christian from Iran, we learn about the outlook for this forgotten people. Indeed, Juliana's life work is to make the Assyrian people unforgettable. Will you please take some time to learn who they are, and what they face? Begin with this episode of the Citizen of New Jerusalem, but also go to the website of the Iraqi Christian Relief Council, of which Juliana is founder and president. From there also see the Philos Project, (to which Juliana is a Senior Fellow)--an outreach to Westerners to educate and encourage us in positive engagement with the Middle East. This interview was a great privilege to conduct, and I hope you take its lessons with you as you think, pray, and act to show love to Christians under the heavy burden of persecution and displacement. Be sure to offer feedback here, or to donate here to keep this show going strong. Thank you all.
