Then, First Liberty Institute's Jeremy Dys joins to explain what happened with the Supreme Court's Oklahoma charter school decision. It's Wednesday, April 9th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus Ugandan Muslim husband kills newly converted Christian wife A Muslim man in Uganda stabbed his wife to death after she converted to Christianity last month. Forty-one-year-old Nasiimu Mirembe was the mother of six children. She put her faith in Christ on March 21st after hearing the Gospel from a friend. On March 23rd, she attended a church service for the first time. Tragically, her husband attacked her on her way home from church.  Mirembe's friend told Morning Star News, “Immediately he started slapping his wife. I started screaming and shouting for help. [He] then removed a long knife and started cutting her with it.” She died from her wounds the next day. Psalm 116:15 says, “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints.” Church attendance up in United Kingdom A new report from the Bible Society found that church attendance is growing in the United Kingdom. Twelve percent of adults in England and Wales attended church at least monthly last year, up from 8% in 2018. Young people, especially young men, are leading the growth. Sixteen percent of 18 to 24-year-olds attend church monthly, up from 4% in 2018. Church attendance by young men grew from 4% to 21% over the same time period.  In Titus 2:1, 2, and 6, the Apostle Paul wrote, “Speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience. … Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded.” Supreme Court blocks reinstatement of fired federal workers for now In the United States, the Supreme Court on Tuesday blocked an order that the Trump administration rehire 16,000 federal employees who were let go in mass firings aimed at dramatically downsizing the federal government, reports The Associated Press. The justices acted in the administration's emergency appeal of a ruling by a federal judge in California ordering that the probationary employees at six federal agencies be reinstated while a lawsuit plays out because their firings didn't follow federal law. Appearing on NBC News, legal analyst Danny Cevallos spoke to the practical fallout of the Supreme Court decision on the 16,000 federal workers who were let go. CEVALLOS: “When it comes to these probationary workers, functionally, if they're not being reinstated for a certain period of time, they're going to go find other work. So, this is one of those situations where a stay in this case may eventually lead to them just going off and getting other jobs, and they may never return, even if they someday are entitled to return.” President Trump boosts coal production President Donald Trump signed an executive order yesterday to boost coal  as an energy source. The order allows some older coal-fired power plants to stay online instead of being retired. This comes as data centers, artificial intelligence, and electric cars increase the demand for electricity in the U.S. The order also removes some restrictions on coal mining and encourages coal leasing on U.S. lands. Georgia passed Religious Freedom Restoration Act Last Friday, Georgia became the 30th state to enact a Religious Freedom Restoration Act. The act protects people from unjust government punishment for living out their faith. Greg Chafuen with Alliance Defending Freedom said, “Our laws should protect the freedom of every person to live and worship according to their faith. This law provides a sensible balancing test for courts to use when reviewing government policies that infringe upon the religious freedom rights of Georgians.” IRS ends investigation into church praying for school board candidate First Liberty Institute announced Monday that the Internal Revenue Service ended its investigation of a church in Florida recently. New Way Church in Palm Coast, Florida came under investigation after praying for a local school board candidate during a service last year. Jeremy Dys with First Liberty Institute said, “We are pleased that the IRS not only closed its investigation, but affirmed that this church's activities of praying for political candidates during its church service do not threaten its tax-exempt status.” Planned Parenthood closes 3 Michigan abortion mills Planned Parenthood of Michigan announced last Wednesday that it will close three locations in the state. Appearing on Fox 2 in Detroit, Michigan Planned Parenthood President Paula Greear was upset. GREEAR: “A lot of people have reached out to me, and they are angry and they are hurt. And you know what? We are too!” The abortion group blamed funding cuts by the Trump administration.  GREEAR: “They are trying to do everything to defund Planned Parenthood.” Young pro-lifers have been praying outside one of the abortion mills for years. Kevin Weed, the headmaster for St. Michael High School in Petoskey, Michigan, told CatholicVote, “Many people are attributing the closing to the Trump administration's cutting of funds, which I'm sure makes a big difference. Our students have been praying there, and those prayers have been answered. However that came to be, we're just happy that this facility is closed.” Space flight around Earth's poles And finally, a cryptocurrency billionaire and his crew of three people completed the first space flight around the Earth's poles last week. Chun Wang is a Chinese-born investor of Malta, the island country located in the Mediterranean Sea between Sicily and North Africa. The bitcoin billionaire funded the mission aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule.  The crew launched last Monday and returned Friday. Together, they accomplished the first crewed orbit over the north and south poles. Before the launch, Chun said, “My own journey has been shaped by lifelong curiosity and a fascination with pushing boundaries. As a kid, I used to stare at a blank white space at the bottom of a world map and wonder what's out there. … We hope our mission will further inspire later people to do the same.” Psalm 19:1 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims His handiwork.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Wednesday, April 9th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Subscribe for free  by Amazon Music or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. Jeremy Dys, Esq., is Senior Counsel for First Liberty. Statement by First Liberty: President Biden's court “reform” scheme is nothing more than a desperate attack to subvert the legitimacy of the Supreme Court because it contains a majority of justices committed to the Constitution and originalism. Term limits are simply court-packing by another name and are designed to target Justices Thomas and Alito in an act of pure political revenge. If successful, the judiciary will no longer be a safeguard of our civil liberties but will instead be little more than a political tool used to crush the freedom of Americans.

It's Thursday, July 4th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Samuel Adams: “Let His kingdom come!” On this day in history, 248 years ago, the United States Declaration of Independence was approved by the Continental Congress meeting in Philadelphia.   Largely due to the tireless work of Samuel Adams, who was successful in lobbying seven of the 13 colonies to endorse the plan, independence was made possible for the United States of America in 1776.   Upon the signing of the Declaration, Adams declared, “We have this day restored the Sovereign to Whom all men ought to be obedient. He reigns in Heaven and from the rising to the setting sun, let His kingdom come.” Iran sentenced 5 Christians to total of 25 years in prison Authorities in Iran sentenced five Christians to a total of over 25 years in prison last month. Hamid Afzali received a 10-year sentence. Nasrollah Mousavi, Bijan Gholizadeh, and Iman Salehi each received a 5-year sentence. And Zohrab Shahbazi received a nine-month sentence.  Hengaw, a human rights organization, reports that officials have given no reason for the charges against the Christians. The group noted that although Christians are “acknowledged as a religious minority in Iran, authorities impose severe penalties, especially on those who convert from Islam to Christianity.” Iran is ranked ninth on the Open Doors' World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian.  Conservatives dominated French election France held its first round of voting for its National Assembly on Sunday. The conservative National Rally won 33% of the vote followed by the leftwing New Popular Front at 28% and President Emmanuel Macron's centrist Together bloc at 21%.  Voter turnout was the highest on record since the 1980s. The popular National Rally opposes uncontrolled immigration, supports the growth of French families, and wants to eradicate Islamic ideologies from the national territory.  Daniel 2:21 says God “changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings.”  Federal judge sides with Kansas against Biden's transgender push In the United States, a third federal judge -- Louis Guirola Jr.  -- has halted the Biden administration's push of the unbiblical transgender agenda. A new rule from the Education Department allowed boys, pretending to be girls, to use girls' locker rooms and compete in female sports in public schools. A federal court in Kansas ruled against the Biden administration on Tuesday.  Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach said, “We're pleased the court ruled to rein in the administration's vast overreach. It's unconscionable, it's dangerous for girls and women, and it's against federal law.”  Tractor Supply Co. saw the light Tractor Supply Co. is walking back its support for left-wing causes. The retailer, which sells farm equipment and feed for livestock in primarily rural America, employs 50,000 people across 2,200 stores. To its shame, it rolled out a series of woke initiatives like funding drag queen shows and paying for disfiguring sex changes. After Tractor Supply got an earful of angry pushback from its conservative customer base, it released a statement last Thursday, acknowledging it had disappointed customers. Tractor Supply said it will no longer work with the Human Rights Campaign, the largest lobbying group in the U.S. for sexually perverted lifestyles. The company also said it would eliminate Diversity, equity, and inclusion roles.  I urge you to thank Tractor Supply Co. for seeing the light and returning to their conservative values. Between 7:00am-9:00pm Central, Monday through Saturday, call (877) 718-6750. Or send them an email through a special link in our transcript today at www.TheWorldview.com.   Pro-abortion vandals in Miami held accountable Vandals with the pro-abortion terrorist group, Jane's Revenge, spray-painted threatening messages on the property of a pro-life pregnancy center in Miami on July 3, 2022, just nine days after the Dobbs decision which overturned Roe v. Wade.  First Liberty Institute reports that Heartbeat of Miami has finally reached a settlement in the case the details of which have not been made public. The religious liberty organization said the vandals are being held to account, calling it a big win for Florida's pro-life community.  Jeremy Dys with First Liberty said, “This case is a reminder that no one should suffer violence for simply providing faith-based counseling and baby supplies to women and their babies.”  Isaiah 1:17 says, “Learn to do good; seek justice, rebuke the oppressor; defend the fatherless, plead for the widow.” Block-Robed Regiment: Colonial pastors who took a stand against tyranny As Kevin Swanson travels and speaks abroad, I guest host for him today on Generations Radio. On this Independence Day, discover how the pastors of the American colonies, derisively called the “Black-Robed Regiment” by the British, boldly taught their congregations the Biblical principles to resist tyranny. Take a listen to my interview of Dan Fisher, author of Bringing Back the Black Robed Regiment: How the 18th century church stood for liberty and why it must do so again. Dan is the co-pastor of Fairview Baptist in Edmond, Oklahoma, a former member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives from 2012-2015, and ran for Governor in 2018. His vision is that the American church will regain the “spirit” of the original “Black-Robed Regiment,” and once again actively engage in defense of truth and liberty. We discuss: *  Pastor Peter Muhlenberg of Woodstock, Virginia who took off his black robe in the pulpit, revealing a colonel's uniform, and challenged the men to fight. *  Pastor Jonas Clarke of Lexington, Massachusetts who trained his men to prepare for the April 19, 1775 showdown with the British which led to the shot heard ‘round the world on Lexington Green. *  And Pastor James Caldwell of Elizabethtown, New Jersey who brought hymnals to the Minutemen to use for wadding to fight the British. Listen to this important interview with your kids at Generations.org/radio. That's Generations.org/radio. Pro-life father of 11 avoids jail time for his pro-life activism And finally, a pro-life father of 11 will not have to serve prison time despite the efforts of the Biden administration.  The so-called Justice Department was seeking a year in prison for Paul Vaughn for participating in a peaceful protest outside an abortion mill in Tennessee.  Instead, a Tennessee judge gave him a sentence of three years of supervised release. While the Thomas More Society was pleased with the judge's leniency, they still called his conviction a deep injustice.  Following the verdict announcement, the group of pro-life supporters of Paul Vaughn spontaneously broke out in praise to God by singing the Doxology. PRO-LIFE SUPPORTERS of PAUL VAUGHN: (singing) “Praise Him above the Heavenly Host. Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.” PRO-LIFER: “Alleluia.” (group claps) Vaughn said, “We will appeal to have this unlawful use of the law overturned. We must stand and fight for what is right. We cannot bow down to the lie. Laws have to be grounded in truth. They have to align with the ultimate Lawgiver, who is Christ our Lord.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Independence Day, July 4th, in the year of our Lord 2024. Subscribe by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. Or get the Generations app through Google Play or The App Store. I'm Adam McManus (Adam@TheWorldview.com). Seize the day for Jesus Christ.

A study of the attacks was recently compiled by the Family Research Center based on reported crime data. The bottom line is that property damage, threats, and overt violence against faith-based organizations is often designed to suppress religious practice and expression.

Christian employees can raise religious freedom complaints against mandated diversity, equity, and inclusion trainings if those DEI trainings force an ideology on them or make them less able to live out their faith, a prominent religious liberty lawyer tells “The Daily Signal Podcast.”“There's a lot of push for diversity initiatives and things like that, where you've got to go through these trainings,” Jeremy Dys, special counsel for litigation and communications at the religious freedom law firm First Liberty, says in an interview at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention. “Well, a lot of people have genuine religious beliefs that oppose being indoctrinated under those topics.”Dys joins "The Daily Signal Podcast" to explain more. After seeing the needs in his community, Pastor Chris Avell made the decision to keep the doors of his church open 24/7. “We're called to reach the lost 24/7,” Avell says, adding that this includes the “the hurting, the broken, the least of these.” Pastor Chris Avell opened the doors of his church, called Dad's Place in Bryan, Ohio, to the needy in the community so they know they have a place to find help 24/7. Dad's Place is “a place they can come if they're weary and burdened and find rest and true rest for their souls,” the pastor says. Some people in the community, whether those struggling with mental health, addiction, or with physical needs, began frequenting the church and even sleeping there if they needed a place to stay. But several months after the church opened its doors wide with round the clock help for the needy, the city told Avell he had to stop. “According to the city,” First Liberty attorney Jeremy Dys explains, “Dad's Place has converted itself from being a church and into a homeless shelter, which they believe is a change of use from the approval that the city had previously given for them to be a church. Well, of course, that's not true,” Dys says. “This is a church and they're doing church things,” Dys says of Dad's Place, adding that churches throughout history have kept their doors open 24 hours a day in order to fulfill the Biblical mandate to serve the needly. Avell, along with Dys, join “The Daily Signal Podcast” to explain how he is fighting to continue doing the work he and the congregation at Dad's Place feel called by God to do.Enjoy the show! First Response: COVID-19 and Religious Liberty

This week on First Liberty Live! we're talking about why this Washington D.C. metro bus ad was rejected for being “too Christian.” The organization behind the ad, WallBuilders, seeks to educate people about America's forgotten history and heroes. The ad this organization created shows our founding father George Washington with the question “Christian?” written across the front. Because of this, it was canceled. First Liberty's Jeremy Dys shares the details about Washington D.C.'s outrageous censorship. He explains how this is a seemingly blatant violation of free speech and what we're doing to stop it.

Do you know the real story behind Juneteenth or the true essence of the 13th amendment's role in ending slavery? Join us as we debunk popular misconceptions and highlight the unfortunate reality of information control. We dive into how the spread of factually correct information has been met with opposition, masking the truths of our history. But that's not all. We delve into an incredible story that's unfolding in Addison, Texas. A church, established by former slaves, is now at the center of a property rights and religious liberties dispute. The Wessons, a resilient family dedicated to their faith, have been tirelessly negotiating to acquire a special use permit for their church. Yet, their efforts have been repeatedly rejected by the Addison City Council. We dissect the implications of their struggle, reflecting on the Texas Religious Freedom Restoration Act and the United States Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act.Joining us for this compelling discussion is Jeremy Dys from First Liberty, who sheds light on the ongoing case and the importance of understanding the Constitution and its principles. We take a deep dive into the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 and the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act of 2000, exploring their sponsors and significance. You might be surprised to hear was in support of religious liberty just a couple decades ago. We urge you to listen in, as we explore the intersection of faith, culture, and property rights. Let's challenge our understanding of religious liberty laws, property rights, and the basic principles of the Constitution. Tune in, and let's unravel these crucial issues together.Support the show
