Are we really going to let thousands of years of Western culture and civilization go up in smoke? The treasures of the past are being replaced by a plastic, consumer-driven world. A lot of us are tired of modern life—the pace, the expectations on all of u
Adam wishes farewell to the audience after 5 years of publishing. The near future is very dark. I hope you are prepared.
Power-packed sermon from Pastor Ben Miller of Trinity Church on Long Island, NY. Do not skip this one, listen thrice!

The dude I had on for this episode has a jolly laugh because he knows we win, even if we lose for a while. This was recorded in late January 2021 - it's interesting to listen to now, and to compare what we said with what's happened since. We talk about some of the tough issues we're dealing with. Retreat from the cities, politics, eschatology, and just a dash of bashing Big Eva. The Biden regime, the left can't meme, localism, survival in a collapsing Global American Empire, and a slew of other goodies from one of Reformed roughneck Twitter's best commentators. Come, listen, be blessed, and be renewed in your mindset. We are going to win in history, because Jesus wins in history. Don't be too shaken by the whirlwind around us. Doom is all around us. News stories, personal stories, churches dissolving, politics, conspiracies: there are 10,000 reasons a day to give in to a sense of doom. Why wouldn't we? If you've never seen the several modern Star Trek series from the '80s and '90s, look up "the Borg" and then read the rest of this. Their famous line is "we are Borg, you will be assimilated, resistance is futile." Even though the producers and writers of ST are well-known progressives and atheists, they told the truth about themselves and their empty worldview. The Borg are the incarnation of the spirit of the modern world. Powerful, assimilating every culture it contacts, creating a dull, gray sameness in every place it has colonized. But it is the realm of mind and spirit where the real tragedy lands. Those who are assimilated (am I now talking about the Borg or modernistic progressivism?) lose their ability to think for themselves. A powerful hive collective mentality takes hold. The spirit of the individual is snuffed. The Borg receive cranial implants that regulate the individual's thoughts. The progressive hive mind creates spiritual implants and slavery through the lures of satisfaction, fulfillment, and happiness if we will simply identify with the collective, praise its glories, and submit to its ends. And in this episode, Adam brings along a traveling companion to offer our resistance. It begins a little off key, but we straightened up and flew right. Hope you enjoy it and find something rich to remember.
What is the mission of the Christian man? Are we to simply focus on the teaching of Bible passages, work toward personal holiness, and go about doing works of charity? Or does the Bible direct and energize us toward a greater scope of mission, to include a drive toward influencing and creating culture? And really, isn't it both, in harmony? Adam and Scott team up for a third interview, this time responding to a bit of criticism received after the last episode featuring Scott. The two men hope you are edified and challenged by this discussion, and welcome further questions and comments here.
Adam answers a couple listener questions. Mentioned in the show: Tom Woods "What I Told State Legislators About Lockdowns" "America's New Normal - Silent, Obedient Consent" "The Strangely Unscientific Masking Of America"
What does Trump represent? How can it be that a casino playboy from New York City is the singular champion for the working class in the United States? What ought we to hope for in the re-election of Donald Trump to the presidency? In this episode (which you should hear even well after the election is over), Michael Sebastian and Adam break down a few of the implications of Trump's rise and popularity.
Adam predicts the outcome of the election, but more importantly, predicts the future for everyone involved. A must listen, even once the election is over.
Election Day arrives again, and as Christians we are faced with a stark choice. Is the election of a President our central hope in civil affairs? What should we be focused upon? Adam has an idea.
We have lost our neighbors and gained the world. We have lost ourselves and become splintered avatars. It is long past time to put the pieces of our humanity back together. The future depends on it.
It doesn't look like the Church is taking dominion in 2020. It's been a wild and crazy summer, and if anything, we're losing ground to the spirit of antichrist in our generation. Riots, COVID, the breakdown of civilization--we've got it all in 2020. Is there reason for optimism? Is this a time to plant deep roots of tradition, and to think great things for the future? Yeah. Listen in to 10 suggestions for growing your own strength and light in this era of weakness and darkness. Chip in a few bucks to bless the show. In Christ, Adam
We get confused about how we are supposed to live our lives as Christians, as Christian men in particular. It may seem that to seek to gain power, influence, and wealth are at odds with our religion. After all, Jesus said Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also (Matt 6:19-21). Did He mean that to save money or accumulate cultural power is a useless exercise in "the love of money," and therefore an evil thing? Or is Jesus' focus more narrow, on the idolatry of wealth? The rest of Scripture speaks positively of those who pass on an inheritance to their descendants. A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children, but the sinner's wealth is laid up for the righteous (Prov 13:22). There is much to be discussed and unearthed here. Scott is an awesome guy with big vision for Christian men, and you should check out his content wherever he's speaking. Visit Scott's Twitter here, his YouTube channel here, and his website here. Let's look at what's behind the news. How is America being brought to its knees so quickly and successfully? What will the near future look like? What should you be doing? Adam offers some brief, incomplete answers that hopefully spur you to complete them for yourself.
There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven—.... A time to love and a time to hate; A time for war and a time for peace. (Ecc. 3:1, 8) Today is a time for war; let's go.
We all know things look really bad right now. The dusk is getting duskier, and our hopes for a quickly improved society are fading with the light. How long will things be getting worse? When will things get better? These are questions everyone has on their mind, and Scott Tungay has a view to what we might do to begin the restoration of Western life and values. A wide-ranging discussion of South Africa, America, the masculinity movement, and more - this turned out to be one of Adam's favorite episodes he has yet created for this show in its three years of production. Theonomy! The women shriek and faint, the children hide under their covers (along with a good many grown men), the stouthearted shut the doors and draw the shades. The term conjures fears of stonings of naughty children, and austere clerics running a cowed society devoid of freedoms. But is Christian Theonomy just our version of an Islamic patriarchy like Saudi Arabia or Iran? Let's talk through it a bit - this episode features the infamous AD Robles, a man with a steel jaw and iron knuckles in the arena of theological battle. Adam and, well, Adam... discuss and explore the meaning of Theonomy, and whether it might be worth a second look from the Reformed and wider Christian worlds. Find AD's YouTube channel here! Adam discovers a chilling passage in an old book while reading meditations in the middle of the night...
Who would win? In one corner, a vast, decentralized network of Wuhan's finest gobbler bugs that you can't see, who just want to get to know your lungs a little more intimately and overwhelm your national healthcare system, and in the other, the overgrown Babylonian supertower ripe for a nice 10.0 earthquake of God's wrath. Are you ready for this fight?
2020 has begun, and things around us really are melting down as quickly as it seems. The Western world is in a tailspin, all the red warning lights are flashing from the control panel, and we only have a little time left to prepare for the shift coming. I don't mean to scare you, but we all know it. We've had doomsday on the mind ever since the dawn of the atomic age, but in reality, there is no stopping the imminent collapse of our way of life. In this episode, Adam looks over just a few of the current issues we think about daily, and points the light of the Christian worldview to see something of the truth of the matter. We must have the truth if we are to face tomorrow. We must love God and neighbor more than our comforts and hobbies; easier said than done.
Western Civilization has a major problem - yes, there are many - but this one stands out like a broken, burned, and bashed thumb. We aren't reproducing. We are an anti-natal, anti-family world in 2019, and it is only getting worse. In this episode, Adam attacks head on one of the most critical issues contributing to the collapse of our civilization. Please do listen, respond, and donate. We don't ask for financial help very often because the show is intermittent, but we are only able to keep the archives online through the generosity and faithfulness of our donors. Thanks to all of you; you are appreciated.
This is becoming a theme.... Cough up the black pill, even when night is falling. Don't worry about how few of you there are. The victories that really matter always come when no one can see how.
In this episode, Adam explains how a proper understanding of God's place as supreme in our thinking can help uproot false beliefs. Buckle up for three recent examples of Adam arguing with people who hold to false ideas, some close to the truth, some far. But the same method takes them all out. What do you think? Good, critical thinking is a major piece in restoring civilization. Drop us a line here, or chip in a little dough to help pay the bills here. All the best, and for the West, Adam
Last episode Adam attacked the weak foundation of Roman Catholicism, but today we go against dispensationalism. Why? Because not only is it a false doctrine, which detracts from God's glory when preached as truth, but it undermines our mission and confidence in this world. In fact, I hate dispensationalism. I love my brethren who hold to it, and I once did, but the false doctrine itself is a cancer. So let's get to it. If you disagree with me, you are welcome to come on the show to discuss, just contact me here or on twitter. - Adam
We need to diagnose what's killing evangelicalism, and we need to ask how we fight on in a time of general confusion and weakness. Come listen to part 2 of Adam's sit-down interview with the CEO of CompassCare, Jim Harden. Jim is a non-denominational conservative evangelical. We range across a plethora of trails in the landscape, observing and critiquing where we are, and why. Your support of CompassCare is vital for the mission of erasing the need for abortion in Western New York. Please visit their site and donate to their cause. Hundreds of babies are being saved from abortion every year that CompassCare keeps their doors open in Rochester, and now Buffalo! Please drop a few bucks for Adam to keep this show up and running. Thank you for all your support and listenership over the years.
Christians are promised "the full assurance of understanding" in Christ, "in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." The Roman Catholic, however, is forced to deny full assurance of understanding, based on his embrace of an erroneous epistemology centered on the pope, rather than Christ. When we ask the Roman Catholic "where is Christ speaking authoritatively," he must answer uncertainly, for the Bible is an uncertain volume given his understanding of free will and revelation. This is where the Reformed doctrine of grace, and of revelation clarify and align with the teaching of the apostles, and where Roman Catholics are welcomed, enjoined, urged to inspect and correct the areas of misunderstanding that have accreted to their doctrine. In love, respect, and brotherly spirit, here is Adam's friendly word of challenge to his Roman Catholic brothers and sisters.

As Peter named us, "o those who reside as aliens, scattered" in this age of spiritual warfare, we are those who wander as though homeless. We need wisdom and insight in how to think and to live in a pronounced downtrend in culture and civilization. Pastor Reid Ferguson joined Adam in studio for an extended conversation ranging from the character of the Church, the meaning of work, relationships, and how we should think about trendy topics blazing throughout evangelicalism. Hear here the thoughts of an evangelical Baptist in our series on Christian thinking in a collapsing society. Blessings and goodness to you all, Adam

The abortion rate here in Rochester, New York, has been plummeting over the past couple decades, thanks to CompassCare. What is CompassCare? Why don't we ask the CEO Jim Harden? In fact, that's what we have here, a tremendous overview of the life and practice of a Christian pregnancy crisis center. And not only is CompassCare "a" pregnancy crisis center, but it is the epicenter of the steepest drop in a local abortion rate anywhere in America. And Jim has been the man guiding this success story, which last year saw at least 221 women who were considering abortion decide to have their babies. Dial in and listen to his view of the landscape around the New York State abortion and pro-life battle. You and I have that black pill on our tongues every day. Some days we get it halfway down our throats. Spit it out. We have work to do; we don't have time for self-indulgent griping and complaining about the world of Babylon caving in around us. Yes, Notre Dame burned down pretty badly. But the Church still stands... though we too are burning down. What is the Church, and what is our role? This episode is a bit of a stream of consciousness leading to a new series on Christian action in this fallen age. Take a mental walk with Adam through these thoughts, and pardon the slurred speech, it was a late recording.
Adam welcomes Michael Foster of the It's Good to be a Man podcast, a new project aimed at equipping Christian men with clarity and confidence in our masculinity. In the past several weeks, the mass media/celebrity complex has produced at least three major rage hoaxes, culminating with the big gay hate hoax featuring Jussie Smollett. Well, our minds are being programmed to react to these fomented "stories," and to fall into rank with our side of the left/right paradigm. The news cycle has become a mentally violent, click-hunting charade of psychological warfare, and I don't think the right thing is to try to avoid it. In this episode, we hear a powerful preacher absolutely unmask the elite progressive worldview. That's all I will say about it. Push back against the ever-present culture by establishing rituals and habits in your own life, which engender goodness, self-control, and order. Thanks for listening. The Citizen of New Jerusalem podcast began as a weekly show, but due to lack of financial support, is now an intermittent program. You get episodes when you get episodes! Love to all the fans who have hung on. As long as we are able to bring in a paltry bit of cash for this show, we can continue hosting it at LibSyn, and producing new episodes on this website. If and when our regular monthly support stops, so will the show. Thank you to our regular contributors!
Western civilization in its current form is a weak counterfeit of its former self. In the past, Christ was recognized as King and lawgiver over our societies, but today we've enthroned our genitals in His place. Listen in to this chuckling romp of a conversation between Adam and Michael Kinsella, the head of the Irish section for reviving Western civilization (I say with tongue in and then out of cheek). Forget all of this and just listen to the episode. Two friends blow holes in the fabric of lies that are wrapping our world in a thick shroud. The devil hates laughter, and he hates to be mocked. He'll hate this episode. Hit me back with your feedback, or a donation of any amount to push this show back into regular production. All the best, Adam
The Roman Catholic Church continues to burn hot and tall in front of the watching world. There is a civil war within her between the progressives, who are oddly and grotesquely defending homosexual and pederast priests, seemingly out of a desire to not cede ground to traditionalists. The trads are fighting to return the Church to her roots and foundational traditions and morals. And we Calvinists and other outsiders look on with wonder. We look on with horror and hope, thinking perhaps some of the chaos will be eye opening to the faithful. Maybe, perhaps, perchance the Lord our God is at work to call His people out of the unclean thing, and to be separate. Not separate from the Church, but repenting from attachment and dependence upon a decayed shell of what the medieval Church used to be before the renewal of the Reformation. Am I being too bold and perhaps rude? Only if souls aren't at stake. Listen in, you be the judge, and tell me your feedback here. Grace and peace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ in truth. Adam
The Roman Catholic Church and its sex scandals. What a heading, huh? As of this writing, the RCC is embroiled in a new round of worldwide sex scandals in its priesthood. The institutional hierarchy of the RCC is being implicated from bottom to top in a long series of crimes and sins that threaten the faith and very survival of the visible witness to the resurrection of Christ. I stand by that assessment. In this episode, I give my long view of the RCC from my own experience, trying to clearly lay out the confusions I have in trying to nail down what its claims are, and then how these scandals bear upon those claims. I invite all sincere RCs to respond to this episode here or on Twitter. Your voice is needed at this time - what do you think, and what should we all think? Hey friends and fellow citizens of the New Jerusalem, Adam here. I hope you've been enjoying the first 50 episodes of the show. I have worked hard to keep the podcast producing content, even on an interim basis while I get used to life as a new father. To my regular subscribers and financial supporters, you are awesome - thank you for being here with me. I know the CoNJP is not the world's most profound, I know there are many people out there doing bigger and better things, but for the couple tens of thousands of listens this show has earned, Christ has been lifted up in those ears and hearts, truth has been proclaimed, Western Civilization celebrated, and a variety of unique guests have been heard. I have every intention of continuing to produce this show, at least until I absolutely cannot, or until I don't receive enough financial support to pay the minimum bills for its existence. SO! For today I want to offer 7 of you, first come first serve, a new copy of Jonathan Fisk's Echo: Unbroken Truth Worth Repeating Again. Listen to this very short mini episode for details, and if you haven't yet, go back and listen to episode 48, my interview with Jonathan on the new book. DONATE or PATREON I also drop some brief comments on the Roman Catholic sex scandals opening up lately. All the best, Adam

There are many ways people try to defend the Christian faith. You will hear one on this episode that should never be used. Today Adam responds to a recent conference session at the 2018 Issues, Etc. Making the Case conference. The speaker in this session was Craig Parton, who teaches the audience that we should not make a defense of the Christian faith beginning with the authority of Scripture. We beg to differ. While much of what Mr. Parton says is excellent, his underlying foundation for apologetics is fatally flawed. Listen in, think with us, and respond here with your thoughts. Please share this episode, leave a review at the iTunes store, and drop a few bucks to help Adam pay the bills. Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ in the truth (including brother Craig Parton!) The original conference audio is here.
Pastor Jonathan Fisk's new book Echo: Unbroken Truth Worth Repeating Again has hit the market, and you need a copy. Fisk has seen the glazed-over eyes of one too many Christians as the truths we hold dear are repeated week in and week out. This book will act as an electrical shock to your fading Christian heartbeat, or if you are on fire for the Lord, this will be a shot of high-octane gas on your flames. Whatever your place in the Church, you can use a reminder, a wake-up call, no... a call to worship like Echo. Join Adam and Jonathan for a little theology pick-me-up. From Concordia Publishing House's website: Christianity is not the ability to memorize or recite from books of Scripture or doctrine. It is not magic. It is not social club, counseling group, or self-help support group. It does not promise that you will be healthy, wealthy, wise, or even happy. Christianity is a truth—a truth first heard at the beginning of time that has echoed to this present age. A truth so profound that no man can master it, yet even a child can learn it. Jonathan Fisk introduces his readers to that truth. He lays it out as simply as a child counts to ten on his fingers. Yet, training to hear the Echo, the reader will come to understand the wisdom that Fisk imparts is bottomless. Fisk teaches nothing less than the distilled, unbreakable Christian Echo, the very thing which has radically changed humanity in every nation and tongue that it has ever been repeated. It the most astoundingly complete description of what life is and why it is worth living. And it's worth repeating. Again.
Paganism is replacing Christianity in the Western world. But it's not one simple brand: we face an onslaught from many directions. With the Church on the decline in all its forms, and with people looking everywhere else for answers, very old forms of thinking and worship are making new inroads where Christendom once stood firm. Politics, education, media, government, religion--whatever institutions we count on to be there, functioning for our benefit--Paganism is making a resurgence in all of them. It sickens me. Peter Jones, at the 2010 Ligonier Conference (yes, I was way off in the episode), lays the gauntlet for Christians who are tempted to compromise with Pagan ideas. You may be surprised by some of what Jones puts his finger on--it may hit close to home for some of us. The video is here. Send me feedback here. Adam
Yesterday the Irish voters rejected the 8th amendment to their Constitution, paving the way for legalized abortion in the tiny island nation. The Roman Catholic Church has been supplanted by the eugenic globo-fascist bureaucracy in yet another once-staunchly Christian country. This episode is a bit of a rambling look at some of the background to what is happening in the West regarding the sanctity of human life. Hear about George Soros, Julian Huxley, Brave New World, Karl Marx, and a few other points of reference for what is making our world so anti-life and pro-eugenic. The book UNESCO: It's Purpose and Philosophy by Julian Huxley Live Action's update on Ireland's rejection of the 8th amendment Thanks for listening, please share this episode on your social media, with friends and family, and please rate the show in the iTunes store to help us get ranked higher. A real sloppy show this time, but hey! You got a show! In the last show, Adam tackled the question of what happens in baptism. Using Scripture and Church history, we saw that there is a consensus that there is real activity on God's part in baptism--something more is happening than just a human step of obedience. However else we define that, we need to begin there. And on today's show, we examine, albeit not in great detail, the Reformed answer to the question For whom is baptism? A minor presentation of the defense of infant baptism, this episode will hopefully draw thinking Christians together, rather than to cast apart. Adam maintains that the Bible may be interpreted either toward a credo or a paedo view of baptism; both are strong in Scripture depending on other hermeneutical presumptions. At the very least, we seek to offer the doctrine of baptism as a hope to a dying world. Baptism includes people in the Church of Christ Jesus, where He does His saving work, and so to offer it to a dying world, indeed to a dying Western civilization, is a step in the right direction. Let's talk biblical baptism! Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ in truth. Support the show so Adam can take the time out to create content without feeling anxious about neglecting other things! A recent post at the blog concerning the Reformed doctrine of a sacrament. Is baptism our step of obedience to show our identification with Christ? Yes. Is baptism a means of saving grace? Yes. Lucia from Germany asked Adam several questions in response to this post here. If the Church catholic is to be healthy and unified in truth, we'll have to figure out this question together, and rejoice in the answer! Adam has been working out the baptism question for the better part of a decade, and talks through some of the issues in this episode. The vortex of bad news and chaos in our culture threatens to drive us to despair. I don't know many people who are both deeply engaged and also truly joyful and triumphant at heart. I, for one, refuse to despair, ultimately. I am facing a culmination of years of spiritual development, reaching something of a crisis time, but I look forward with hope. Do you? How do you find the energy to work for the good in the world? Check out this unscripted monologue where Adam looks to raise some encouragement out of a mass of chaos. World War I was the end of Christian Europe, and we have been watching her slow demise ever since. In his eulogy for Europe and the West, Peter Hitchens lays out the causes of death and the dim future. This is what it sounds like to have a realistic, fatherly love for the West. We cannot paint a rosy picture of a future we have created by our own demotic lust. And yes, I said demotic. Look it up if you don't know what that means. Now, I'm not going to say I agree with Mr. Hitchens point for point. The idea here is to hear the eloquent diagnosis of a dying civilization. Here is the video of this lecture. Here is the video of the Q&A afterward. One of my past guests asked the first question. See if you can figure out who it was. All the best, and for the West, Adam
