April 13:In this edition of UBC "Sermon Discussions" Jason and Jesse talk with the students that preached from John 14:1-6—I Am: The Way, and The Truth, and The LifeQuestions discussed in this episode: Why is it a good thing that Jesus claims that he is the only Way?Why is it such a grace that as Christ followers we know without doubt that Jesus is the absolute truth? We live in a world with many different religions that believe and teach that there are others than Jesus who give LIFE. Why is Jesus' claim that he is Life so important to believe, accept, and share with others?Last year the youth group went on a mission trip within our country and had the opportunity to share the gospel with a group of people who don't believe Jesus is the only way, the only truth, and the only way to life. How can Jesus' claim in John 14:1-6 be used to share the gospel with others and why is it important to teach Jesus' as the way, the truth, and the life to others?John 3:16-17 says that God did not send his Son into this world to condemn the world. That is speaking of when Jesus first came to this world. What does the Bible say Jesus will do when he comes again? In his message, "Time Well Spent," Gary Thomas spoke at Cherry Hills Community Church about how the relentless pursuit of worldly desires—what he called "exploding wants"—leads to low life satisfaction and spiritual emptiness. He highlighted the dangers of chasing material gain or societal success, urging the congregation to seek fulfillment in a deeper relationship with God instead. By embracing gratitude, stewardship, and faith, Pastor Gary explained, we can counteract dissatisfaction and realign our priorities with God's eternal purpose. He concluded by encouraging listeners to resist the pull of consumerism and trust in God's sufficiency, where true and lasting satisfaction can be found.
Did life on earth spring up early and easily through evolutionary processes? Or does the emergence of life represent another infusion of information into the biosphere that is best explained by intelligent design? On this episode of ID The Future, host Andrew McDiarmid and Dr. Casey Luskin discuss the implications of a recent study on the last universal common ancestor, also known as LUCA. They explore the nature of LUCA as a hypothetical organism, its complexity, and the challenges it poses to evolutionary theory. The conversation also touches on the media's portrayal of scientific findings and the problems associated with molecular clock techniques used to date LUCA. Ultimately, they highlight the rapid emergence of complex life on Earth and the implications for origin of life theories. Source

Larry O'Nan Larry is the author of Giving Yourself Away Little did I know in September of 1972 that my life was about to radically change over the next few years. I had no idea what was about to happen to me—and to many thousands of others. What started with one task soon became a major funding initiative. One success leads to another. Whatever my team and I were doing was working. We had no coaching. We were encouraged to take risks—and the risks were paying off. The ministry I was serving with at the time was experiencing accelerated growth in many ways. I was a small part of this. I was keenly aware that if my area of responsibility was successful, more people could experience spiritual transformation. Independent of me, the ministry decided that considerably more funding was needed. Soon, a billion-dollar vision became the goal. This type of ministry expansion had never been raised before. In early 1977, a reputable secular consulting firm with global experience in capital campaigns was retained to help bring direction and process to this billion-dollar vision. An extensive feasibility study was undertaken. I was asked to attend when the ministry leaders met for a report of findings and recommendations. @https://larryonan.com/#LarryONan#traumabond #ThrivingInLife #LostInConfusion#generationaltrauma #LifeQuestions
Welcome to our latest podcast episode, where Pastor Ken dives deep into understanding worldviews and their significance in our lives. Discover how our worldview shapes our thoughts, emotions, and actions. Pastor Ken contrasts various popular perspectives, such as humanistic, naturalistic, and post-modern worldviews, with a biblical one, underscoring the importance of a foundation grounded in God's truth. Where did we come from? Pastor Ken draws on scriptures like Genesis 1:1 and Isaiah 42:5 to highlight the divine creation of humanity, emphasizing that we are a product of God's intentional and extraordinary act. What's our purpose in life? Through vivid analogies and biblical references, Pastor Ken illustrates how a biblical worldview shifts our focus from self-centered living to glorifying God in everything we do. Scriptures like Ephesians 2:10 and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) remind us that our true purpose is to be image-bearers of God. How do we determine right from wrong? Pastor Ken emphasizes the unchanging nature of truth, rooted in God's word. Passages like 2 Timothy 3:16 and John 14:6 reveal how truth originates from God, providing a moral compass for our lives. What happens after we die? Pastor Ken addresses our ultimate destiny, explaining the realities of heaven and hell. With references like Hebrews 9:27 and Revelation 21:4, he offers hope and clarity about eternal life with God. Join us on this transformative journey to develop a biblical worldview that answers life's most profound questions. We're opening a new 12-week sermon series today, taking a look at questions Jesus asked in the course of teaching those who followed Him. We begin with the topic of worry, a habit we all have, and on deeper probing, realize it is far more pervasive in our lives than we would like to admit. Whether you've only said it to yourself or admitted it to someone else, you've inevitably said something like, “I HAVE to worry! If I don't, I'll be left hanging!” Jesus wants to teach us otherwise. He addresses the hearers of His day with the very thing we find ourselves doing in modern times, and Pastor Greg walks us through what Jesus taught as a path to freedom from worry.
