Yesterday Sinn Féin MEP Lynn Boylan was leading a European Parliament delegation to visit Palestine as part of the Relations Committee with Palestine of which she is chair. In order to travel into Palestine she and her delegation had to fly through Israel. Upon landing, however, she and the group she was travelling with were held in the airport and refused entry. Taoiseach Simon Harris has extended the Governments apology to the families of the victims of the Stardust tragedy. Joining Kieran to give their takes on the apology are Newstalk reporter Stephanie Rohan and Sinn Féin senator Lynn Boylan. Also joining Kieran to discuss is one of those affected, Lisa Lawlor, who was 17 months old and lost both her parents in the tragedy.
It took 43 years to get a form of justice for the 48 young people who died in the Stardust fire in February 1981. Yesterday, a jury in their inquests returned verdicts of unlawful killing. Jerry spoke to Sinn Féin justice spokesperson Pa Daly who’s a TD for Kerry and Sinn Féin senator Lynn Boylan who has been a long-standing campaigner for the Stardust victims, survivors and their families.
