In the first four chapters of Romans, the Apostle Paul put before us the righteousness of God, the unrighteousness of man, and the truth of justification by faith alone. Paul will now place before us the great blessings of justification. All who have been justified by faith in Christ have lasting peace with God, hope in their suffering, and the assurance of God's love.

For over 40 years, the Kurdistan Workers Party, the PKK, has waged an armed insurgency against Turkey, fighting for Kurdish rights and autonomy. But in late February, Abdullah Öcalan, the PKK's imprisoned founder, called for the group to lay down its arms and dissolve itself. Days later, the PKK, which is labelled as a terrorist organisation by Turkey, Europe and the US, declared a ceasefire with Turkey. In this episode, we speak to political scientist Pinar Dinc at Lund University in Sweden about what's led to this moment and whether it could be the beginning of a lasting peace between Turkey and the Kurds. Maoz Inon - Building Lasting Peace Post 07/10In this transformative conversation on ROPESCAST, we welcome Israeli entrepreneur and peace activist Maoz Inon, whose personal journey exemplifies extraordinary resilience and vision in the face of tragedy. On October 7, 2023, Maoz lost both of his parents in the Hamas terror attack, yet he has found the courage and forgiveness in his heart to continue advocating for peace between Israelis and Palestinians. His story is one of transforming personal grief into a catalyst for positive change and reconciliation.Maoz shares his profound insights on peace-building, forgiveness, and how to create meaningful change even in the darkest times:"Forgiveness is the key to redeem ourselves, to free ourselves from the destiny those who harmed us chose for us. They choose for us to hate each other, but many of us are choosing a different destiny based on reconciliation and healing and human values."Perhaps most moving is his perspective on hope: "Hope is not something we can find and is not something we can lose - hope is an action. And the formula to create hope is also very simple. It's difficult to achieve but it's very simple to explain. We create hope by working together with others and envisioning a better future and acting to make it into a reality."Join us for this deeply moving conversation that transcends politics and reminds us of our shared humanity and the power of choosing reconciliation over revenge.ROPESCAST is produced by the Regional Organization for Peace, Economics & Security (ROPES), bringing together voices from across the Middle East to foster dialogue, understanding, and cooperation.

Israel and Hamas are just over two weeks into a ceasefire agreement, after fifteen months of fighting. This is a paradoxical moment to talk about long term peace. The horrific October 7th attacks and the near - destruction of Gaza that followed, served to amplify already high levels of distrust, hate, and trauma. At the same time, the war has demonstrated to Gazans that their government placed conflict with Israel above their own survival. And it has shown Israelis that an indefinite blockade of Gaza doesn't ensure their security. So while the ceasefire doesn't mean the end of the conflict by any means, it does offer an opportunity to envision a way out. Our guest for this episode is Ksenia Svetlova, an expert observer of politics and media in the Middle East and the executive director of the Regional Organization for Peace, Economics, and Security, or ROPES. Svetlova is an immigrant to Israel from the Soviet Union, an Arabic speaker and a Middle East specialist. For fifteen years. Pastor Jim reflects on Solomon's flourishing kingdom in First Kings 3 and 4, highlighting his wisdom, justice, and governance. While Solomon's reign brought peace and prosperity, it also sowed doubt through flawed human systems. Jim contrasts this with Jesus, the righteous and eternal King who brings true Shalom—a right relationship with God and others. He emphasizes Jesus' resurrection as the beginning of a new creation, calling listeners to obedience and faith in the King who offers lasting peace.

Radical acceptance is about fully acknowledging and accepting reality as it is, especially when it's something we don't like or want to change. This approach, popularized by Dr. Marsha Linehan as part of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), encourages us to embrace what we can't control instead of resisting it. But radical acceptance isn't easy. The idea challenges our instincts, often triggering discomfort and frustration, especially if we're used to holding tightly to that illusion of being in control. Or, if you can't get past that something isn't right or fair. Today we'll explore the origins of radical acceptance, why it's so challenging, how you can incorporate this life-changing approach and, of course, my top tips for creating a life of resilience, peace, and healthier relationships.____________________________Full blog and show notes: https://abbymedcalf.com/radical-acceptance-5-steps-to-embrace-reality-for-lasting-peaceGrab my Radical Acceptance Journal Prompts: https://abbymedcalf.com/radical-acceptance-journal-promptsLearn how to create and hold healthy, loving boundaries. Message Pastor JasonWe explore the story of King Hezekiah in Isaiah 39 and his choice to settle for "peace in his time" rather than seek lasting security for future generations. As Election Day approaches, we're reminded that our loyalty is to God's Kingdom above any earthly allegiance. Hezekiah's story reveals a powerful lesson: true peace requires a vision that goes beyond ourselves and seeks to bring Christ's peace to others—even those not yet born. Following the brutal Hamas 'October 7th' attack that killed more than twelve hundred Israelis, Israel has vowed to rid Gaza of the terrorist group's control. But to ensure another 'October 7th' event won't happen again, a post-war plan for Gaza needs to be put in place for both reconstruction and new governance. What could that that plan look like? Meanwhile, in a daring rescue mission, Israeli commandos rescued a 52-year-old Bedouin man from Hamas captivity.
