So I did it, I flew to L.A. to attend and support our cousin, Dr Jenn Noble and her Free To Be Fest, a Mixed Race community event that took place at Rooftop Cinema in DTLA. A lot of my favorite Mixed cousins that are L.A. based were there. It was really good for me, I'm really glad I went. I was only gone for 25 hours, I'm back home with my kittens and they were big mad at me for leaving BUT I am home now and wanted to share with you my experience and looking forward to more of these opportunities in the future. In the episode, your Sir Auntie Sharmane Fury continues to discuss the current genocide of the Palestinian people whilst acknowledging other global genocides and realizing what little we know about what is happening in other parts of the world. Additional, we talk about how the BDS Movement (Boycott, Divest, & Sanction) is a real way, we as individuals, can make a difference in this fight for liberation. There is currently a blackout of telecommunications in Gaza right now and starting to have that issue in parts of the West Bank as well. This week, I spoke with artist and author Victoria Pendragon about her upcoming memoir, Scorpio Times X, in which she details her experiences being sexually trafficked by her white grandfather, who viewed the more Cuban-presenting grandchildren as disposable and the more white-presenting children were revered. TW: We get into the heavy topics of child abuse, sexual assault, sex trafficking, and incest and how inter-family racism played a big part into why what happened to Victoria and her siblings happened. I wanted to share some thoughts and hold space for the Asian American, Asian immigrant, and Mixed Asian communities regarding the recent mass shootings in Monterey Park and Half Moon Bay. A total off 11 killed and 9 wounded in Monterey Park and 5 killed in Half Moon Bay by two elderly, Asian men. These are both very violent and confusing incidents for the Asian Diaspora. I wish to acknowledge it, pay my respects, and hold space for the community. If you would like to make a donation to the Monterey Park Victims Fund, please visit their GoFundMe. There is also a fund for the victims of Half Moon Bay, on GoFundMe as well. Please follow accounts such as the ones listed below for information on healing events and more information on issues that impact the Asian Diaspora.
