The ball is rolling and The National center for Missing and Exploited Children have joined the search for the Cabin where Megan Emerick is buried.Megan was last seen in Seward, Alaska on July 7, 1973. Investigators believe the serial killer Robert Hansen may have been involved in Megan's disappearance, but he denied any involvement in her case. Hansen did admit to Manfried that he brought Megan Emerick out to the Cabin, killed her and buried her there. Hansen drew a sketch of the cabin in his cell and crumpled it up and threw it away. Manfried retrieved it and sent the original to Tony. Tony made a copy and shared it with The Center for Missing and Exploited Children.Manfried sent Tony his personal Journal that covers from May 2008 to March 9th 2009. The daily entries really give you a true perspective of what it's like being in prison.

On Thursday, March 3, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. ET, Rep. Jamie Raskin, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, will hold a hybrid hearing to examine the disproportionate rates by which BIPOC—Black, Indigenous, and People of Color—women and girls go missing, the disparate treatment their cases receive by law enforcement and the media, and potential solutions to address this crisis. This silent epidemic is affecting hundreds of thousands of Black, Brown, and Indigenous women and girls across the country. In 2020, 40% of all women and girls reported missing were people of color—100,000 out of 250,000 missing—despite making up just 16% of the population. The disproportionate rate of missing Black and Indigenous women and girls can be attributed to a variety of factors, including higher rates of intimate partner violence against BIPOC women than white women. Missing Black, Brown, and Indigenous women and girls also rarely receive the same amount of attention by law enforcement and the media as white women and girls. Empirical studies have identified “missing white woman syndrome”—a phenomenon in which white women are given vastly higher levels of media attention than women of color. And while white women are often treated as vulnerable victims by both law enforcement and the media, BIPOC women are frequently viewed as responsible for their situations. The full scope of the problem is impossible to measure due to a lack of comprehensive and consistent data regarding missing BIPOC women and girls. In fact, there is no data on missing Hispanic or Latino women, as their cases are captured under the “White” demographic. To address this problem, federal and state governments must step up to address gaps in care, protection, and data collection. Congress must also act to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act of 2021, pass the Protect Black Women and Girls Act, and fund the full implementation of the Ashanti Alert Act. Guest host, Joy Cover, speaks with President and CEO of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), John Clark. John shares about the magnitude of online child exploitation and what each of us can do to end this injustice. Since 1984, NCMEC’s mission has been to help find missing children, reduce child sexual exploitation and prevent child victimization. The organization has helped law enforcement recover more than 327,000 missing kids, distributed billions of missing posters, operated a 24/7 missing children hotline, offered comfort to countless families and trained and provided free resources to law enforcement and other professionals across the country. John has served as NCMEC’s leader for four years. He has extensive law enforcement background, including 28 years with the United States Marshals Service. Before joining NCMEC, John was director of security at Lockheed Martin Corp., the nation’s largest defense contractor. It is believed that many cases of child abuse, including physical and sexual abuse and neglect, could be the dark figure of crime during the COVID-19 pandemic, with many mandated reporters being denied the usual access and observation they have during “normal times.” Since the coronavirus pandemic and associated national shutdowns began in early 2020, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) has seen a drastic spike in the number of cases and reports of child sexual abuse materials online and online grooming of children. From March through December, NCMEC received 21 million CyberTipline reports, which is up from 18 million for the whole of 2019. “We see a correlation between the pandemic and people being homebound and connected on mobile devices,” says NCMEC President and CEO John F. Clark. In this episode of the Policing Matters podcast, host Jim Dudley speaks with John Clark about the work of NCMEC, which serves as the nation's clearinghouse and comprehensive reporting center for all issues related to the prevention of and recovery from child victimization. Jason and Megan discuss cases involving missing children and adults with the hopes of increasing awareness of this important topic. On average, approximately 90,000 people are missing in the USA at a given time. The first 12-24 hours are usually the most critical in an active missing person's investigation. The longer it takes to report a missing person to the authorities an open an active investigation, the less likely a positive outcome will occur. For children, the first three hours are especially critical. If someone you know goes missing, you should call 911 and report it to the police immediately. There are mixed feelings regarding the use of psychics and intuitives concerning these types of cases. Any information obtained from a psychic should be viewed only as an investigative tool and should not replace sound investigative techniques. Join us for our first episode.

Join A Women's Circle (347.855.8118 @ 7:30 EST) as we discuss Sex trafficking with expert Deena Graves Sex trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery in which girls and women perform commercial sex through the use of force, fraud, or coercion. Poverty, gender-based discrimination and a history of sexual and physical violence are all factors that can make women and children vulnerable to traffickers. Sex traffickers frequently target victims and then use violence, threats, lies, false promises, debt bondage, or other forms of control and manipulation to keep victims involved in the sex industry for their own profit. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, there are estimated to be at least 100,000 American children trafficked for sex each year. They are abducted or lured by traffickers who prey on their trust. They are routinely raped, beaten into submission, and when they try to run away, the traffickers will often torture or gang rape them. Or both. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please call 911.
