Filly is joined with the trail-blazing Jen Dugard, a fitness professional passionate about serving mums and exercise trainers. I came across Jen back in 2021 - she was one of our coaches in a business program we were doing back then. What drew me to Jen was her fierce passion and advocacy for mums to receive safe exercise advice and prevent pelvic-floor related injuries that are rife in the exercise world. I had my own personal experience of a horrible injury 6-months postpartum in the gym, which caused ongoing chronic pain for years and fed other body burnout symptoms. I don't want any other woman to experience this, so I knew we needed to get Jen onto the podcast. Get ready for sooooo much gold insight into your body - especially the unknown regions of your pelvic floor! (Oh, and a VERY personal story about how I peed my pants in public recently - eek!!!). About Jen Dugard Jen Dugard is the founder of MumSafe™️, creator of the Pre & postnatal certification Safe Return to Exercise™️ and author of the book “How to Love your Body as much as your Baby.” With over 17 years of industry experience, Jen is dedicated to enhancing the standards of care for mothers within the fitness community and beyond. Jen's dual mission is to serve both mothers and exercise professionals. She ensures that exercise professionals are thoroughly educated and up-skilled in working with pre and postnatal clients while also empowering mothers with the knowledge and resources they need. Through MumSafe™, Jen connects mothers with certified trainers, fostering a supportive network across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and the UK. She also serves on the board of AUSactive. In today's episode, Jen talks to Filly about: Her post-natal depression after becoming a mum, rooted in a conflict of “identity” and worthiness How Jen is creating a safe space for mums & exercise professionals to connect and exercise safely The 5 imbalances that can occur in mums that every woman should know before exercising Hypotonic and hypertonic pelvic floor - signs and symptoms Jen digs into Filly's pelvic floor, and a recent “wet pants” incident How you can support your pelvic floor Adaptations you could make in your exercise, if you are recovering from postpartum imbalances How to love your body Show Note Links: Check out Jen & her Safe Return To Exercise certification & mentoring here Find a Mum Safe Trainer or pelvic floor physio here Take Chris & Filly's Ending Body Burnout Assessment here Check out how you can work with Chris & Filly Functional Medicine here Disclaimer: This Ending Body Burnout Show podcast and any information, advice, opinions or statements within it do not constitute medical, health care or other professional advice, and are provided for general information purposes only. I also want to take a moment and remember those who lost their lives at club Q. Far too often the new cycles just moves too fast. Sometimes it's easier for us to move on than to look our biggest fears right in the face. I believe one of our biggest fears is that we live in a country where this type of heat really truly exists. And just the idea that it happened could mean that it could happen again. That scares the life out of us. Today we continue to remember Daniel, Ashley, Kelly, Derek, Raymond. Today we continue to remember those who survived. Today we remember their families. We will never forget. 00:00 - Welcome & Intro 01:10 - Queer News Goes Weekly 01:35 - Top Stories This Week 01:37 - BG Update 01:53 - We Remember Club Q 02:56 - Anna Makes It to Top 6 at TechRise 05:23 - Billy Porter 06:20 - Anna's Got A Word 06:56 - Outro

Now for the news. It's time to vote. The midterm elections are tomorrow, and the stakes are high for all of us that believe in democracy & especially the underrepresented. November kicked off Transgender Awareness Month and spotlights important issues facing trans people across the country. Next up, Dwyane Wade's 15-year-old trans daughter, Zaya, is now at the center of a court battle after Dwyane's ex-wife had the court prevent the change of Zaya's legal name and gender. A leather bar right here in Chicago is in hot water after inviting a white ventriloquist to perform racist jokes using a Black puppet he called "Sista Girl"…you can't make this stuff up. Let's go!

Now you may be asking why Mississippi. Why the South? So a couple little known facts. The South comprises 38% of the U.S. population but it represents over half, yes over half at 52% of all new HIV diagnoses. Let me drop another stat on you. Out of the 17 states defined as being in the South by the U.S. Census; 13 of them have HIV-Specific Criminal Laws or Statutes on the books & 11 of them have actually prosecuted people for living with HIV. HIV Criminalization is still real. I'm sharing these stats because you need to know. In this episode, I interview fitness professional turned educator and mentor, Jen Dugard about the importance of female specific fitness. Jen has changed the landscape of how mums are looked after within the fitness industry. In 2016, Jen developed her pre & postnatal accreditation, "Safe Return to Exercise" and has now delivered this accreditation to thousands of trainers across the world. In the episode, Jen and I discuss- why women need to train differently to men; how to vet your trainer to ensure they know how to train women; red flags to watch out for from trainers; why strength is so important for females; why our pelvic floor matters; and how we can strengthen our pelvic floor and the best way that busy and overwhelmed mums can commencer exercise. In today's episode I want to remember Jaylen, Devonta & Donald. The three men who were killed in the hit and run at the iconic Jeffery Pub early Sunday morning. A night full of bad decisions has led to this moment. And we know how important bars are to our community. They are places where we find our people. Where we dance without care. Hold hands without second glances. Hug without contempt. Kiss without judgment. Some people call it church because it's where they find love and support and community. Let's honor them. 00:00 - Welcome & Intro 01:00 - Top news stories 01:25 - Intro Music by Aina Bre'Yon 02:06 - Jeffery Pub Incident 05:50 - Carlee Statement 06:18 - The Investigation 07:37 - Anna has a reflection 09:30 - Outro
Kelly Whelan is a human trafficking researcher for the UN *and* a former professional ice hockey player who has lived all over the globe! But it was Ukraine specifically that captured her heart; partly because the country and its people figure so prominently into her own coming out story. In fact, Kelly's gradual embracing of her own queerness seemed to run parallel to similar strides Ukraine itself has made in recent years. Now, though, with Russia's invasion, LGBTQ Ukrainians - people whom Kelly knows and loves - are in danger. Kelly not only shares her own story, but lays out simply and clearly what is happening in Ukraine right now, and what it specifically means for the country's queer population. She also provides insight about what we can do beyond donating to help Ukrainian refugees in general, and queer Ukrainian refugees in particular. Слава Україні - Glory to Ukraine!Follow Kelly on Instagram and Twitter at @kellythenomad, and check out the ice hockey organization she founded in Ukraine at forwomenshockeyinukraine.org! And now...a whole bunch of ways you can help:- Nash Mir (gay.org.ua/en/): One of the most prominent LGBTQ activist organizations in Ukraine. They work to educate Ukrainian society about LGBTQ issues, combat stereotypes, and advocate for change.- ILGA-Europe (ilga-europe.org/support-lgbti-people-ukraine): An umbrella organization that has compiled a list of ways to donate and support directly to assist LGBTQ Ukrainians.- The LGBT Asylum Project (lgbtasylumproject.org) and the Transgender Law Center (transgenderlawcenter.org): Both of these orgs provide legal assistance to LGBTQ asylum seekers in the U.S. Contact them for potential ways to host/help.- RUSA LGBT (rusalgbt.com): Mentioned in the episode, an organization of Russian and Russian-speaking queer people living in the United States.- Secure Brittney Griner's Swift and Safe Return to the U.S. (chng.it/2HHVJbczK8): Sign and share the online petition created by journalist Tamryn Spruill.
