Dave Hoffman (they/them) is the creator of Mixolumia (davemakes, 2020), an arcade puzzle game combining contextual soundtracks with diamond-based combos. They came on the show to dig into the spontaneous origins of the game, how it continued to evolve and incorporate player creations, and the difficulty of marketing puzzle games in a streamer attention economy. Later, they admit to having never seen Goncharov (Martin Scorsese, 1973). You can follow Dave on Twitter @davemakes, on cohost @geometric, and purchase Mixolumia on itch, Steam, and Switch. Dave's Cool Thing to Share Getting owned by Goncharov Things Discussed - Mixolumia - Executive Golf DX (davemakes, 2021) - Rotohex (Skip Ltd., 2006) - Pico-8 - Down With the Mixness (I refer to this twice as Chop Suey and I cannot explain why) - Tetris Effect (Monstars/Resonair, 2018) - Josie Brechner's music - SimCity 2000: Urban Renewal Kit (Maxis, 1994) - Petal Crash (Friend & Fairy, 2020) - Spirit Swap (Soft Not Weak, 2023) Kritiqal Care is produced by me, Nate Kiernan, with music by Desired. It's available on Pocket Casts, Apple Podcasts, and wherever else you get podcasts. If you enjoyed the show, consider sharing it with a loved one and supporting Kritiqal on Ko-Fi.

John returns after a journey into the world of Pac-Man. Neal has also been feeling those retro vibes with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cowabunga collection. He's also been doing a little puzzle solving with Mixolumia. But the main meat and potatoes is of course, the Nintendo Direct that might happen this month. Will there be Zelda, Metroid, or Star Fox? This week in the News, PlayStation acquired a new studio and raised the price for the PS5 around the world. Rumors were swirling that Amazon was acquiring EA and while that didn't pan out, we discuss what might have happened and what truths can be found amongst the rumors. In Playing and Watching, Dave had new Destiny content to enjoy and MJC is still battling in the Rumbleverse. A treat! A snack! A delight! A Cookie! Listeners, however you describe it, this episode is sweet enough to satiate your sweet...ear? Is that really the audio equivalent of a sweet-tooth? Sweet-cochlea? That's nothing - this metaphor isn't working. In this episode: David reveals the dark underside of Pokémon GO. Giovanni explains why we're in the silver age of character licensing deals. Greg says a lot of jargon in a convincing and scary way. Tess wants to know what your relationship to cookies is like. If you're interested in a real sweet treat, you can dip your hand into our cookie jar over at patreon.com/LTRT. If you sign up you can listen to an exclusive podcast in which we only talk about Elden Ring for like 2 hours. Isn't that a sweet treat? Websites also have cookies. Get some of ours at lefttriggerrighttrigger.com Games discussed: Gears 5, Pokémon GO, Mixolumia, Cookie Clicker
Brad has themselves a Steam Deck and they don't care about frames per second, refresh rates and minor performance gains. All they care for is if they can play Mixolumia on the bus! Luckily Stu is on hand to ask some questions. So strap in and listen to Brad's first hand experience with Valve's newest bit of hardware.

It's almost the end of S1! This week we dip into the Summertime Selects Bundle from the fine folks at itch.io. We played A Hand With Many Fingers, Mixolumia, and Sundered. Our Cause is The COVID-19 Mutual Aid Network LA. We've donated, and if you donated and send us proof we will shout you out on the show!
Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels. For this episode, we are joined by game designer & composer (and our friend), Megan Carnes! She's sitting down with us this week to chat some video games, per usual, and will be joining us again next week to chat some more about her work… But before that, John is still on his Warhammer 40,000 kick, as he's now made his way over from the tabletop to the PC, as he explores the vast waters of Dawn of War - Dark Crusade. He's also doing a pretty darn good job of piquing our interest when it comes to the Warhammer franchise. From there, Megan tells us a little about Cozy Grove, which has really captured her attention as of late and keeps her coming back for daily 20-30 minute, bite-sized play sessions—and we also get a little into Animal Crossing & Stardew Valley, which it's nearly impossible not to draw comparisons between. Finally, we wrap things up with a handful of awesome games from the recent itchio Bundle for Palestinan Aid, which featured a whole slew of awesome indie games to add to our never-ending backlogs!?! But, if you're looking for some arcade and/or puzzle action, we've got ya covered...
