Join the RPGBOT crew as they wrap up their Pulp Cthulhu experiment — answering listener questions, unpacking mechanics, debating wizard builds, and confirming once and for all that Pulp Cthulhu is less "existential dread" and more "Indiana Jones punches Nazis with a jetpack." Show Notes The finale Q&A session closes out the RPGBOT Quickstart series on Pulp Cthulhu with a reflective, mechanics-focused discussion on how the system actually played at the table. Framed as a conversation between players and Keeper, the episode explores whether the rules felt intuitive, what stood out, and how pulp action changes the traditional Call of Cthulhu experience. The discussion opens with character advancement — a system largely inherited from Classic Call of Cthulhu. Skills that succeed during play are marked, and during the development phase players roll to see if they improve — ironically increasing faster in weaker skills than stronger ones. This reinforces the system's organic growth model and is supplemented in Pulp by rewards like bonus Luck for completing story arcs. From there, the hosts explore how survivability mechanics shift the tone. Luck emerges as a defining feature of pulp play, enabling cinematic survival and bold risk-taking. The group reflects on moments where characters survived explosive stunts specifically because Luck allowed them to — a core distinction from the deadlier classic ruleset. Combat mechanics and optimization debates dominate the mid-episode. The team examines whether investing in unarmed combat can ever compete with firearms, concluding that while high damage bonuses and melee weapons help, impaling weapons and guns remain significantly deadlier due to extreme success multipliers. This highlights the game's grounded lethality — fists can work, but physics (and dice math) favor bullets. The Q&A also ventures into magic, psychic powers, and build decisions. Spellcasting is contextualized as powerful but dangerous, balanced by sanity costs and narrative risk. Psychic abilities, meanwhile, shine in investigation-driven play, especially those focused on information gathering rather than raw damage. Beyond mechanics, the episode emphasizes tone. Pulp Cthulhu thrives on cinematic improvisation and narrative escalation — encouraging Keepers to "yes-and" player creativity while maintaining credible stakes. The system sits between absurd heroics and genuine peril, echoing adventure films where quips and danger coexist. Balancing that tone is presented as the central challenge for running the game effectively. The session concludes with reflections comparing Classic and Pulp styles. Players note that pulp's higher success rates and survivability foster emotional investment and character attachment, contrasting with the grim inevitability of failure common in classic play. Ultimately, the Q&A serves as both debrief and endorsement — showcasing Pulp Cthulhu as a system that rewards boldness, supports cinematic storytelling, and invites players to lean into chaotic adventure while still respecting cosmic horror roots. Key Takeaways Character advancement mirrors Classic Call of Cthulhu — succeed during play, roll during development, and weaker skills grow fastest. Completing story arcs can reward extra Luck, reinforcing heroic pulp progression. Luck fundamentally changes survivability, enabling high-risk cinematic actions. Guns dominate combat efficiency due to impale mechanics and damage scaling. Melee can compete with investment and weapon choice, but fists alone lag behind ranged lethality. Psychic and investigative abilities often outperform damage powers in mystery-focused play. Spellcasting offers powerful tools but trades stability for sanity and narrative risk. Pulp tone encourages improvisation and cinematic problem-solving over tactical rigidity. Keeper skill lies in balancing absurd heroics with meaningful stakes. Compared to Classic, Pulp promotes character attachment through higher success and survivability. Welcome to the RPGBOT Podcast. Ritual spellcasting is the part of tabletop roleplaying games where wizards stop blowing things up for ten minutes and instead argue about chalk circles, incense pricing, and whether chanting counts as a somatic component if you're holding snacks. In this episode of the RPGBOT.Podcast, we dive deep into D&D ritual casting mechanics, explore how Pathfinder and 5e ritual spells change encounter pacing, and discuss how to turn out-of-combat magic systems into storytelling tools instead of bookkeeping exercises. Because sometimes the real magic isn't Fireball — it's spending eleven minutes summoning a familiar while your party rogue steals your candles. Show Notes Ritual magic sits in a fascinating design space across modern tabletop RPG systems, particularly in Dungeons & Dragons 5e ritual spellcasting rules, where casting without expending spell slots reshapes resource management and exploration play. In this episode, the hosts explore how ritual casting in tabletop RPGs functions both as a mechanical subsystem and as a narrative lever for immersion. Rather than treating ritual spells like background noise, we discuss ways GMs and players can frame non-combat spellcasting mechanics as collaborative storytelling moments that reinforce tone, pacing, and worldbuilding. The conversation begins with a mechanical breakdown of how ritual casting works in D&D, including class access, preparation requirements, and opportunity cost. We compare approaches to ritual magic systems in Pathfinder and other TTRPGs, highlighting how design differences affect party planning and gameplay tension. Along the way, we touch on optimization considerations for players researching best ritual spells for utility and exploration, and how ritual access can shape character identity outside of combat encounters. From there, the discussion pivots toward table culture and presentation. Ritual casting is an opportunity to create sensory texture — chanting, environmental interaction, symbolic components — and we outline practical techniques for GMs seeking to immerse players through magical storytelling. This includes pacing strategies, spotlight balance, and methods for integrating ritual outcomes into ongoing campaign arcs rather than treating them as isolated mechanics. Finally, we address common pitfalls. Overuse can trivialize challenges, while underuse wastes design space. By framing rituals as collaborative scenes instead of background automation, tables can unlock deeper engagement with fantasy roleplaying immersion techniques and reinforce the feeling that magic is mysterious, costly, and meaningful. Whether you're optimizing your spellbook or building cinematic magical moments, this episode provides both system mastery and creative inspiration for getting more out of ritual spellcasting at your table. Key Takeaways Ritual spellcasting in D&D 5e allows slot-free utility casting but requires time investment and preparation planning Understanding how ritual casting works in tabletop RPG systems helps players optimize exploration and resource management Many best ritual spells for roleplaying immersion shine outside combat and define character identity GMs can elevate non-combat magic storytelling by emphasizing sensory description and table participation Ritual scenes are opportunities to reinforce pacing, spotlight sharing, and narrative tone Comparing ritual mechanics across Pathfinder and 5e highlights how system design affects tension and preparation Avoid trivializing obstacles — meaningful cost or risk keeps ritual magic engaging Treat rituals as collaborative scenes rather than background mechanics to enhance immersion Strong presentation transforms fantasy ritual casting experiences into memorable campaign moments Welcome to the RPGBOT Podcast. At level 11, the Cleric stops being "the healer" and starts being "the department of cosmic corrections." Need a miracle? You've got it. Need a battlefield reorganized? Also you. Need the DM to quietly reconsider every encounter they prepped? Congratulations: you just prepared Heroes' Feast and learned that your god's job description includes "professional problem solver, part-time artillery, full-time vibe check." Welcome to Cleric 11–20, where your faith is strong, your spell list is irresponsible, and your party suddenly thinks every plan can be solved by "ask the Cleric." Show Notes Episode Overview In this episode of RPGBOT.Podcast, we break down how to build and play a D&D 5e Cleric from levels 11–20, where your character graduates from "durable support" to "divine Swiss Army catastrophe." We cover late-tier class features, high-level spell priorities, feat and gear considerations, and how to stay impactful when the game gets weird (and the monsters start having resumes). What Changes at Levels 11–20 Your spell slots get absurd: 6th–9th level spells aren't just stronger—they change what "a problem" even means. Channel Divinity becomes a resource-management minigame: It's no longer "use it when you remember." It's "use it to control the pace of encounters." Your role expands: You're still support… but also control, emergency reset button, and occasionally the party's primary win condition. Late-Tier Cleric Priorities (The "Don't Waste Your Turn" Checklist) Action economy matters more than ever: high-level combats punish "I guess I cast Cure Wounds." Concentration discipline: pick the concentration spell that wins the fight, then protect it like it owes you money. Defenses scale or you get deleted: AC, saves, and positioning keep your miracles online. High-Level Spell Picks That Define Your Cleric Rather than listing everything, we focus on categories of "spells that win sessions," and how to choose within them: Battlefield control & tempo (deny actions, reshape positioning, force bad choices) Pre-fight power (buffs that make the party feel like they're cheating) Hard counters & problem solvers (condition removal, anti-magic, planar nonsense) Clutch buttons (resets, revives, "nope" spells for when the DM smiles too confidently) Feats, Ability Scores, and "High-Level Practicality" When to cap Wisdom, when to take resilience/defensive feats, and when a utility feat is secretly the MVP. War Caster vs. Resilient (Con) (and why your table's encounter style decides this). The "I'm level 15 and still miss" problem: improving reliability via positioning, spell choice, and save targeting. Gear and Magic Items (What You Want and Why) We talk about item functions instead of shopping lists: Concentration protection Mobility and positioning Defensive layers (AC, saves, resistances) Spellcasting flexibility (extra casts, broadened options, panic buttons) Playing Cleric at Tier 4 Without Becoming a Solo Game High-level Clerics can accidentally steal the spotlight. We discuss: How to enable party hero moments while still being decisive When to solve the plot and when to support the plot How to coordinate with the DM so divine power feels epic, not adversarial Key Takeaways Tier 4 Clerics are not "healers," they're strategists. Healing keeps the party alive; control and prevention win fights. Your best turns usually aren't reactive. Preempt threats with positioning, concentration, and proactive tempo spells. Protect concentration like it's your hit points. You can lose the fight without losing HP if you drop the spell that mattered. Pick one job per encounter and do it violently well. Control, buff, counter, rescue—trying to do all of it in one round leads to "meh" turns. Your spell list is a toolbox—prep is gameplay. The difference between "good Cleric" and "legendary Cleric" is often made at dawn. Don't build only for peak moments. Tier 4 is swingy; build for reliability so you're useful even when the boss is immune to your favorite trick. You can be the party's win condition without being the party's main character. Enable your allies' big turns, then drop the miracle when it counts.

The best Wild Shape Druids know their options ahead of time and keep a "beast cheat sheet" at the ready. Spellcasting and Wild Shape can play nicely together, especially with the right feats and subclass abilities. Did you enjoy this deep dive into Druid mastery? In this lost episode of THE CIRCLE IS podCAST, Rachel True and Mat Auryn welcome witchcraft author and third degree high priest Jason Mankey for a conversation that discusses the hidden history of music, where crossroads magick, hoodoo folklore, and esoteric influence shaped the pulse of blues and rock long before anyone spoke of “occult music.” From there the dialogue drifts into the nature of practice itself, touching on everyday sorcery, personal power, and subtle ways of working energy in daily life. They explore the question of initiation and whether formal lineage is required for authentic practice, opening a thoughtful exchange on tradition, self-dedication, and the many ways a witch steps fully onto their path. The episode also brings forward Jason's newest work, a biography of Raymond Buckland that offers a rare look into the life of one of modern witchcraft's most influential figures. The result is a rich exchange on art as spellcraft, magick as a lived reality, and the evolving legacy of the Craft.Jason's Links:Raise the Horns blog: https://www.patheos.com/blogs/panmankey/author/jmankey/Jason's Books: https://www.llewellyn.com/author.php?author_id=4751Jason's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/panmankey/?hl=enJason's Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063557306920Our Links:Gathering of The Witches Online Event: https://insighteventsusa.com/gathering-of-the-witches-2025/ref/82/Rachel True Website: https://truehearttarot.comMat Auryn Website: https://auryn.netModern Witch Podcast Network: https://modernwitch.comMat's Omega Retreats: https://www.auryn.net/omegaTrue Heart Intuitive Tarot, Guidebook And Deck: https://a.co/d/9ZNyRu1The Psychic Art of Tarot: Opening Your Inner Eye for More Insightful Readings: https://a.co/d/dUBT1bZPsychic Witch: A Metaphysical Guide to Meditation, Magick & Manifestation: https://a.co/d/bHelDwUMastering Magick: A Course in Spellcasting for the Psychic Witch: https://amzn.to/3VesGalPisces Witch: Unlock the Magic of Your Sun Sign: https://a.co/d/cGqcG61

Hello and welcome The Magicians season 1 episode 3! This week, Quentin and Eliot go on a side mission to reclaim a stolen book. The book was stolen from the cottage by a group of unaffiliated, magically inclined "Hedge Witches". As it turns out, the group has a familiar face. Julia, having been rejected by the school, is here to continue her education and to give Quentin a piece of her mind. Thanks for listening! Want to survive your first Warhammer Fantasy game without getting eaten by a goblin or arrested for fashion crimes? This episode teaches you the grimdark basics—judgy elves included. Big thanks to our sponsor, Dungeon Master Adamantine—the only GM who can run a perfect session and pronounce "Naggaroth" correctly on the first try. If you want to play D&D, Call of Cthulhu, Vampire: The Masquerade, or any other TTRPG—whether you're in Greece, online, or just chaos-curious—book your game at dungeonmasteradamantine.com or find him on StartPlaying. Show Notes: In this gloriously grimdark episode, the RPGBOT crew celebrates both personal victories and narrative tragedy—because nothing says Pride like running a half marathon and being emotionally wrecked by Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay lore. The crew dives deep into the richly depressing world of Warhammer Fantasy, from the human-centric politics of the Empire to the lizard-brained logic of the Slann. They explore the setting's clashing cultures, catastrophic corruption mechanics, and the unfortunate magical side effects of wearing the wrong outfit. Expect heated discussions on dwarf grudges, elf egos, undead management tips, and why your bright pink tunic might just get you killed during spellcasting. The conversation also gets tactical as they unpack dungeon design do's and don'ts, from the elegance of the Five Room Dungeon to the emotional trauma that is Tomb of Horrors. Spoiler alert: don't design your dungeon like a video game unless your players are part AI and emotionally numb. This episode is equal parts war-torn exposition and mechanics breakdown, with a healthy helping of sarcastic celebration. Key Takeaways: Pride is powerful. So is finishing a half marathon. So is a vampire count on a zombie dragon. Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay is what happens when early modern Europe and cosmic horror have a very messy divorce. The Empire: Best place to be human, worst place to not pay your taxes. Bretonnia: Where chivalry and classism come with matching banners. Kislev: Frostpunk with bears and chaos cultists. Dark Elves: If Hot Topic and human sacrifice had a baby. Warhammer Fantasy ≠ Warhammer 40K. This one has fewer space marines, more diseases. Elves are superior—just ask them. The Old World is “Europe but cursed.” The New World is “Colonialism but with dinosaurs.” Dwarves: Have grudges, will travel (underground). Lizardmen: Technically the good guys, if you like ancient prophecy and no interpersonal skills. Greenskins: Orcs, goblins, and the chaos-fueled frat party that never ends. Skaven: Backstabbing rat anarchists who somehow built a nuclear weapons program. Undead: Vampires rule the night; Tomb Kings rule the day (and resent the living). Chaos: The multiversal HR violation that unites us all. Your class and career determine your fate, like high school but with more mutations. Warhammer's magic system: Be fluent in death chants and fashion-forward or suffer the consequences. Psychology, fear, corruption, and disease aren't flavor—they're core mechanics. Color-coordination is literally rules-as-written. You can die for clashing. Spellcasting is hard. Miscasting is harder. Death by wardrobe malfunction is canon. Character progression is XP-based. Advancement is granular and glorious. Half-elves aren't a thing. Racial purity is, unfortunately, a cultural theme. Dungeon design should offer choices, not just punishment. Unless you're Tomb of Horrors. The Five Room Dungeon is a GM's best friend—tight, deadly, and endlessly adaptable. Don't copy video game dungeons. This isn't Skyrim and your players aren't NPCs. Listen now and learn why wearing a green sash while casting a red spell might kill you faster than a chaos spawn with an axe. In this evocative episode of THE CIRCLE IS podCAST, Rachel True and Mat Auryn welcome Penelope Trappes—Australian-born, Brighton-based vocalist, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and sonic conjurer. Known for her immersive soundscapes and cello-driven atmospheres, Trappes joins to discuss A Requiem, her fifth solo album on One Little Independent. What unfolds is a rich, layered conversation on grief, creativity, ancestral memory, and the meditative rituals that shape her haunting compositions. Together, they trace Trappes' journey from the ethereal minimalism of her Penelope I/II/III trilogy through her visceral engagement with mortality, liminality, and sound as spellwork. Trappes opens up about working with fear, writing toward death as a form of psychic freedom, and transforming personal loss into collective healing. The episode drifts through themes of animism, vibrational resonance, magical practice, and the creative discipline of channeling emotional density into structured art. The trio explores the collapsing structures of patriarchy and capitalism, the reemergence of witchcraft as resistance, and the sacred role of the artist in times of unraveling. Whether you're a musician, a psychic, a witch, a listener of deep frequencies, or a practitioner of quiet rebellion, this episode is a spell in itself, one that honors the living funeral, the voice as invocation, and the ever-turning spiral of creation and letting go.Penelope's Links:Penelope Trappes Bandcamp: https://penelopetrappes.bandcamp.com/Penelope Trappes on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/6shE4Y1z4lzRqoDp65XfzTPenelope's Instagram: https://instagram.com/penelopetrappesPenelope's Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/penelopetrappes.bsky.socialPenelope's Substack: https://penelopetrappes.substack.com/Penelope's X: https://x.com/PenelopeTrappesOur Links:Rachel True Website: https://truehearttarot.comMat Auryn Website: https://auryn.netModern Witch Podcast Network: https://modernwitch.comMat's Omega Retreats: https://www.auryn.net/omegaTrue Heart Intuitive Tarot, Guidebook And Deck: https://a.co/d/9ZNyRu1The Psychic Art of Tarot: Opening Your Inner Eye for More Insightful Readings: https://a.co/d/dUBT1bZPsychic Witch: A Metaphysical Guide to Meditation, Magick & Manifestation: https://a.co/d/bHelDwUMastering Magick: A Course in Spellcasting for the Psychic Witch: https://amzn.to/3VesGalPisces Witch: Unlock the Magic of Your Sun Sign: https://a.co/d/cGqcG61

In this episode, Morgan climbs on her soapbox with fiery passion to talk about a topic she's felt strongly about for nearly 20 years: why you should stop paying people to cast spells for you. Sparked by a recent impersonation scam using her name and photos to sell $210 spells, Morgan gets real about the dangers, the manipulation, and the loss of personal power that can come from outsourcing your magick. She shares an unforgettable story from her early days owning a metaphysical shop, where she helped a woman reclaim her hoodoo roots and cast a successful spell for herself—after months of being scammed by others. From there, Morgan dives into five powerful reasons why no one can cast a spell better than you can. She covers everything from the predatory nature of love and twin flame spells to the risk of handing your energy and money over to strangers with unknown intentions. This episode is tough love wrapped in empowerment. Morgan isn't here to shame—but she is here to remind you that YOU are the magick. In this stirring episode of THE CIRCLE IS podCAST, Rachel True and Mat Auryn are joined by Benjamin Stimson, award-winning writer, researcher, counselor, and author of Ancestral Whispers. Known for his work bridging folk magick, medieval history, and modern spiritual practice, Stimson brings a sharp, grounded presence to a conversation that flows between past, present, and future. Together they explore the cyclical nature of history, the psychology of mass movements, the evolution of religious extremism, and the deep work of ancestral healing. Drawing from his expertise in psychotherapy and folklore, Stimson offers a clear-eyed look at how spiritual traditions carry both harm and resilience through the generations, and how we can consciously choose to be better ancestors ourselves. The discussion moves through the tangled roots of cultural scapegoating, the subtle power of collective memory, and the urgent need to reclaim hope as a radical, magickal act. They speak to the dangers of learned helplessness, the seduction of authoritarian savior figures, and the spiritual fatigue many feel today. Moving into practical guidance, Stimson shares simple yet powerful ways to connect with ancestors, protect one's energy, and reawaken the deeper stories of strength and survival that live within us. Whether you're working magick, studying history, tending ancestral altars, or simply trying to stay awake in difficult times, this episode offers wisdom, perspective, and a call back to the long, living chain we are part of and still shaping.Benjamin's Links:Benjamin's Website: www.benstimpson.com Benjamin's Facebook: www.facebook.com/BenStimpsonAuthorBenjamin's Instagram: www.instagram.com/@BenStimpsonAuthorBenjamin's youtube: www.youtube.com/@BenStimpsonAuthorOur Links:Rachel True Website: https://truehearttarot.comMat Auryn Website: https://auryn.netModern Witch Podcast Network: https://modernwitch.comMat's Omega Retreats: https://www.auryn.net/omegaTrue Heart Intuitive Tarot, Guidebook And Deck: https://a.co/d/9ZNyRu1The Psychic Art of Tarot: Opening Your Inner Eye for More Insightful Readings: https://a.co/d/dUBT1bZPsychic Witch: A Metaphysical Guide to Meditation, Magick & Manifestation: https://a.co/d/bHelDwUMastering Magick: A Course in Spellcasting for the Psychic Witch: https://amzn.to/3VesGalPisces Witch: Unlock the Magic of Your Sun Sign: https://a.co/d/cGqcG61

In this compelling episode of THE CIRCLE IS podCAST, Rachel True and Mat Auryn sit down with Heather Greene, film historian, journalist, Llewellyn editor, and author of Lights, Camera, Witchcraft. Known for her work documenting the evolution of witches in American film and television, Greene brings sharp editorial insight and cultural analysis to a deep, layered discussion on media, publishing, and magick. They explore how Hollywood's witches reflect shifting social anxieties, especially around gender, sexuality, and power. From the monstrous crone to the seductive enchantress to the teenage rebel casting spells as a form of self-sovereignty, Greene traces how cinematic witches signal moments of cultural reckoning. The conversation moves through the symbolism of iconic portrayals, the politics of representation, and how film has shaped public understanding of witchcraft, sometimes dangerously and sometimes beautifully. From her role at Llewellyn, Greene also shares what aspiring occult authors need to know about publishing, from proposals to edits to life after launch. She offers grounded, candid advice about rewriting, trusting editors, and understanding the difference between a compelling idea and a publishable manuscript. Together, the trio speaks on the rise of commodified authenticity, the pressure to perform expertise, and why personal voice and devotion still matter most. This episode is essential listening for witches, writers, and media lovers. Whether you're casting spells, pitching a book, or unpacking the stories that shaped you, it offers clarity, context, and inspiration.Heather's Links:Heather's Website: www.heathergreene.netMystic South: www.mystic-south.comLlewellyn Worldwide: www.llewellyn.comWitches Movie Coven: https://www.youtube.com/@WitchesMovieCovenOur Links:Rachel True Website: https://truehearttarot.comMat Auryn Website: https://auryn.netModern Witch Podcast Network: https://modernwitch.comMat's Omega Retreats: https://www.auryn.net/omegaTrue Heart Intuitive Tarot, Guidebook And Deck: https://a.co/d/9ZNyRu1The Psychic Art of Tarot: Opening Your Inner Eye for More Insightful Readings: https://a.co/d/dUBT1bZPsychic Witch: A Metaphysical Guide to Meditation, Magick & Manifestation: https://a.co/d/bHelDwUMastering Magick: A Course in Spellcasting for the Psychic Witch: https://amzn.to/3VesGalPisces Witch: Unlock the Magic of Your Sun Sign: https://a.co/d/cGqcG61
In this thought-provoking episode of THE CIRCLE IS podCAST, Rachel True and Mat Auryn welcome the brilliant Benebell Wen—lawyer, occult author, and practitioner of esoteric arts. Best known for Holistic Tarot, The Tao of Craft, and I Ching, the Oracle, Wen shares her deep knowledge of divination, Taoist ritual magick, and the intersections of law and mysticism. The conversation explores the distinction between fortune-telling and divination, the power of long-term inner work in magickal practice, and how a disciplined, scientific approach to magick can enhance results. They dive into the challenges of translating ancient texts, the hidden mystical layers of the I Ching, and the ways Western interpretations have shaped (and often distorted) Eastern metaphysical traditions. Wen discusses her upcoming projects, including an Etteilla-based tarot deck and her translation of the Tao Te Ching from ancient Chinese, shedding light on the shamanistic roots often overlooked in mainstream discourse. The hosts also tackle the role of magick in turbulent times, the necessity of protective and grounding practices, and how embracing a daily spiritual routine can counter learned helplessness. Here's a funny and engaging set of show notes and key takeaways for the episode: In this episode, the RPGBOT team bravely ventures into the digital dungeon of Sigil VTT, the latest virtual tabletop experiment from Wizards of the Coast. They dissect its features, question its "user-friendly" design, and debate whether it's a game-changer or just a new way to set money on fire. Along the way, they compare Sigil to classics like Roll20, Foundry, and Dungeon Alchemy, discuss the importance of map-making, spellcasting mechanics, and undo buttons (seriously, why is that still an issue?), and ponder the future of D&D in a world where subscription models are king. They also take a hard look at monetization strategies, because nothing says immersive fantasy roleplaying like microtransactions and corporate greed. Is Sigil the beginning of a bright new era for D&D, or just another way to charge players for digital dice? The hosts have thoughts, and they're not holding back. Key Takeaways Sigil VTT is in beta and, like most betas, it's got issues. The user interface? A puzzle unto itself, and not the fun kind. Graphics range from "cool" to "wait, did my internet just die?" Three-dimensional movement? Neat! Terrain management? A tragic comedy. Spellcasting animations exist, so at least there's some razzle-dazzle. Undo button? Oh, you sweet summer child. Integration with D&D Beyond? More like integration pending. Map creation tools feel like they were designed by someone who never made a map. Dungeon Alchemy is still winning in the VTT race. Game masters deserve better, and Sigil isn't there yet. Kids might love it because it looks like a video game. Serious gameplay? Maybe in a few updates. Subscription models are here to stay, and we are tired. Digital content ownership is a concern, because who really owns your virtual minis? Hasbro wants your money. That's not a conspiracy, that's just math. The gaming community is skeptical, and for good reason. The future of D&D depends on whether Wizards listens to actual players. Will Sigil level up or end up rolling a natural 1 on usability? What if the person you trusted as your spiritual mentor was actually casting a spell to manipulate your mind, isolate you from loved ones, and hijack your reality? In this explosive episode of our "Bewitched" series, I sit down with Dr. Robyn McKay and Jia Dafu to unravel a story of spiritual manipulation, emotional abuse, and the dark underbelly of high-control coaching. Jia bravely shares her experience working with "Betty", a so-called spiritual mentor whose toxic tactics went far beyond typical coaching. From sleep deprivation to planting seeds of paranoia about family and loved ones, Betty created a cult-like environment where truth and lies became indistinguishable. Jia opens up about how Betty's insidious methods of gaslighting, emotional isolation, and mind games left her questioning her own sanity. We dive into the bizarre dynamics of "energetic agreements", the manipulation of spiritual gifts, and the trauma bonds that formed when vulnerability was weaponized. You'll hear how Betty convinced Jia to break off relationships, adopt a delusional identity, and even channel business strategies that were stolen and marketed as Betty's own work. This episode is a wake-up call for anyone navigating spiritual and coaching spaces. We're not holding back as we expose the dangerous patterns of cult-like mentorship, share how to spot red flags, and discuss the reclamation of self-sovereignty after spiritual abuse.TODAY'S HIGHLIGHTS(00:00) Intro(01:41) Episode Recap on Instagram(02:23) In Today's Episode...Jia Dafu(03:08) Special Bonuses on The Mothership(06:48) Jia's Naive Start and Initial Impressions(09:49) Santa Fe Retreat - The Taker Element and The Delusional Confidence(18:10) Dark Psychological Practices(26:58) Mind Block and Manipulations(32:36) Life Changes After Santa Fe - Inverted Portals(38:44) The Croatia Retreat - The Big Being(44:26) Spell Casting and Paranoia(51:53) Psychotic Breakdown, Silent Resistance and The Mysterious Enemy(01:00:00) Returning Home: The Shift. This episode of the RPGBOT.Podcast has everything: magic, mayhem, and at least one person realizing they should have read the rules on push mechanics before trying them in combat. Things are getting wild on the RPGBOT.Podcast as the crew sets sail into a maelstrom, only to find themselves face-to-face with a Kraken, a legendary pirate, and a whole lot of questionable choices. Between spells flying, swords clashing, and a mysterious coin that nobody fully understands, the stakes couldn't be higher. Naval combat, unexpected betrayals, and a few too many reckless ideas make this one of the most chaotic sessions yet. Will teamwork save the day, or will bad dice rolls and impulsive plans sink the ship? There's only one way to find out. Listen now wherever you get your podcasts and join the adventure! Summary: In this action-packed episode, the hosts start with their usual dose of chaotic humor, discussing the struggles of modern comedy, the challenge of new music, and the universal truth that nobody likes change. Then, they dive headfirst into an intense Dungeons and Dragons session featuring a maelstrom, a Kraken, and a whole lot of questionable decision-making. As the players prepare for naval combat, they receive a cryptic coin from their patron, leading to rampant speculation, bad theories, and at least one failed insight check. The session quickly escalates into an epic battle involving pirates, betrayal, and ship repairs that may or may not have been handled responsibly. With spells flying and teamwork being tested, the players must strategize their way through chaos while dodging betrayal, Kraken tentacles, and the ever-present risk of rolling a natural one. Between dramatic moments, surprising tactics, and plenty of player banter, this episode highlights the creativity, excitement, and occasional confusion that makes tabletop role-playing games so much fun. Whether it's using Mass Suggestion to manipulate enemies, questioning their own character choices, or debating whether dragons are friend or foe, the players bring high stakes, high drama, and just enough bad decisions to keep things interesting. Key Takeaways: Change is scary, but so is fighting a Kraken. Comedy and music take time to appreciate, just like a good D&D strategy (or a bad one). The mysterious coin is probably important, but nobody knows why. Naval combat is fun until your ship needs repairs. Teamwork makes the dream work, but betrayal keeps things spicy. Players are never 100% confident in their character builds. Spellcasting can be the difference between victory and disaster. Rolling for initiative can make or break a combat encounter. The DM's storytelling can be both a gift and a curse. Bold moves often have bold consequences (and sometimes tragic ones). The importance of trust in a party cannot be overstated—until someone stabs you in the back. Dragons: helpful allies or terrifying enemies? It depends. Creativity and quick thinking are the best weapons in any RPG session. Strategic planning is great—right up until the dice decide otherwise. Sometimes, the most memorable moments come from absolute chaos.
