Bianca Dijkhoffz has red hair. However, that is not the only unique thing about her. She is a burst of energy and quite honestly one of the most awesome persons you’ll meet. She was raised on the island of Saint Maarten. Her dad is from the island and a mom is from the United States. This gave her a very unique perspective, experiencing the Caribbean, yet having access to the thoughts and perspectives of someone that was raised in a larger country. Both philosophies on life resonated with her and shaped her view of the world. At a tender age Bianca fell in love with the arts. She took lessons in violin and the piano as well as dance. Along the way she left the violin behind and stuck with the piano and dance. To this day she plays and composes her own pieces on the piano. Dance however, took hold of her from the very beginning and never let her go. To see Bianca on stage is to be entertained and to be inspired. Whether viewing her work on television, in films, on stage or in a music video it is quite evident that she has a burning passion for the art form and is immensely talented. Her zest for life is undeniable. As long as it is positive and helps her to grow, Bianca, will sign up for it. She is adventurous yet practical. She has her sights set on big city lights and global performances yet retains a soul of that sweet little girl that was raised in the Caribbean.Bianca Dijkhoffz however, is not done. As a matter of fact, she is far from it. She has now taken on a new challenge. This is the story ... Thus far ... Of Bianca Dijkhoffz.

In July, 2019... I made a choice to use my passport and go sola/solo to the island of Saint Maarten. Find out how it went and appreciate the tips I gained along the way! A transcriptional essence can be found of this episode via my primary blog at: LaLuzEats.com ❤
Welcome to the 94th episode of Giving Back Insights, my Thursday solo show where I talk about how our guests and their charities serve others, to explore actions each of can take to make a difference in people’s lives and to share. Today I’m discussing A Glimpse Of My Future. Listen to today’s episode and don’t forget to give your feedback and valuable comment. Enjoy! Key Takeaways: Hello, it’s great to be back! I hope you enjoyed Tony and Jia’s talks, I found their stories to be touching and insightful and hope you found something both useful and joyful in their presentations. A picture of my beautiful wife in Saint Maarten is on the cover of today’s show. We had a wonderful vacation in the Southern Caribbean and I found that the time in a different environment was helpful for me to see things from a different perspective. Opening up or seeing things with fresh eyes are probably better descriptions. For one, seeing the difference between lifestyles from the US to the islands. Wow. It’s not just about material abundance or lack of resources, it’s also about accepting a lifestyle dramatically different from my own as being absolutely normal. A second eye-opening situation is to see the effects of Hurricane Maria. Flying into San Juan, Puerto Rico, we went over miles of shanty towns. September 18th was the 1 year anniversary and we were on the island of Dominica. Beautiful, resilient people; bent but unbroken, proud of their islands and ready to reclaim a bright future. A third piece of wonder comes back to the people I met. I’m a traveler and an obvious tourist. I wander where the winds of my interest or recommendations take me, and I often encountered all eyes in a room on me, sometimes unsmiling. It was intimidating on more than one occasion and I found that when I stopped focusing on the uncertainty in my head and focused on speaking a single point of truth that I believed we shared, it made a huge difference. What I said that worked in EVERY situation was simple: You have a beautiful island. Mostly, this trip was about reconnecting. After all, this will be our lives as empty nesters. Conversation, laughter, awkward pauses and all --- what a great time with a wonderful partner she is. Learning to embrace her plans, however different from mine, and get so much joy in sharing a totally different experience than I would have chosen. In the end, just as the saying goes, travel changes us. I think travel allows us, in the best of circumstances, to stop thinking about ourselves and focus on the world and people around us. To count our blessings and enjoy the presence of our companions as well as revel in the joy of discovery. Reframing Ursula: how can I better listen to her? Carson, Tyler and Rachel: how I can best support each of them? Mom: treasure our time together in ways that are meaningful to her Tom: remember that my role is to love him, not save him Guest insight coming up: George Madiou, Business 4 Vets Bob Burg, “The Go-Giver” Remember: Always err on the side of love & kindness. First they discuss the craziest story of the day in Saint Maarten where a female tourist was killed after she was bowled over by the engines of a plane taking off in front of her. Gary Bembridge author of "The Cruise Traveler's Handbook" provides another 60-Second Cruise Tip. For more visit http://www.60secondcruisetips.com and subscribe free to the podcast on iTunes, Stitcher Radio and TuneIn Radio. Cruising the CaribbeanThe most popular cruise region is the Caribbean. Many ships sail out of Florida, mostly Miami and Fort Lauderdale, although there are frequent cruises from other USA ports - and occasionally from Europe. East Caribbean cruises go to islands like Saint Maarten, Saint Thomas, and Antigua. Western ones visit places like Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica. Cruise lines often alternate these routes offering back-to-back trips around the region. Here are some considerations when choosing a Caribbean cruise: • Ports can get busy with thousands of cruise passengers visiting at one time. This is especially common on the northerly islands close to Florida like Puerto Rico, Saint Thomas and Saint Maarten when seven or more ships can be there together. I prefer cruises to the more southerly islands such as Barbados, Dominica and Saint Lucia as they tend to be quieter and offer a more genuine Caribbean experience. • Check if the islands you are visiting are owned by the cruise line and uninhabited. These are purely entertainment destinations and you are not seeing authentic destinations. • Do more than just beach and catamaran excursions and see some cultural and historical attractions to appreciate the differences between the islands.
