Part 1 Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas Summary"Empire of Storms" is the fifth book in Sarah J. Maas's epic fantasy series, "Throne of Glass." The story continues to follow Aelin Galathynius, the heir to the throne of Terrasen, as she navigates a world filled with political intrigue, war, and a looming darkness that threatens her realm and the world beyond.Plot Summary: After the harrowing events of the previous book, Aelin has returned to her kingdom with newfound allies, including her loyal friends and warriors. She must unite the factions of the realm to prepare for the impending battle against the dark forces led by the evil king Erawan. In this novel, Aelin's leadership is tested as she strives to gather the support of different territories, including those of the Fae, the witches, and the other noble houses, particularly for the upcoming confrontation.Throughout the book, we delve deeper into the backstories of beloved characters such as Rowan, the Fae prince and Aelin's mate, and Manon, the fierce witch leader, who is grappling with her own identity and responsibilities. Their journeys intertwine as alliances are formed and shattered amidst betrayal and power struggles.Amidst the political maneuvering and battles, Aelin begins to learn more about her own abilities as a fire-wielder, testing the limits of her powers while also struggling with her responsibilities as a leader. The narrative explores themes of loyalty, love, sacrifice, and what it means to be a true ruler in times of turmoil. As tensions rise, the story culminates in intense battles, tragic losses, and shocking revelations. The characters face moral dilemmas, forcing them to choose between personal desires and the greater good. The book ends with significant cliffhangers, setting the stage for the concluding installment of the series, as Aelin and her friends confront their fate against Erawan's overwhelming darkness.Overall, "Empire of Storms" combines intricate plotting with rich character development, showcasing Sarah J. Maas's ability to weave a compelling tale of magic, friendship, and heroism against a backdrop of impending doom.Part 2 Empire of Storms AuthorSarah J. You can find Sariah Wilson at her website www.sariahwilson.com or on IG - @sariahwilsonauthor   We chat this week with Sariah Wilson, the author of many, many rom-coms, who recently published her first romantasy titled A Tribute of Fire. A Tribute of Fire is inspired by the myth of Cassandra who, if you remember, is the Trojan princess who was cursed with the ability to see the future but no one believes her. Sariah's story focuses on Cassandra's assault in Athena's temple by Greek hero Ajax and the resulting punishment which is that two maidens from Ajax's home, Locris, will be sacrified. How exactly, this punishes Ajax, I'm not sure, but such is Greek myth.    Sariah talks to us about her favorite romance trope (which she hardly ever writes herself), the whirlwind backstory to the publishing of this book, and how the popularity of The Fourth Wing series really cracked open a whole new world for romance writers.   And for our book recommendations, we're going to share some children's picture books that have stories and illustrations we love. Earlier this month was National Picture Book Authors & Illustrators Week, but we don't think you need a special week as an excuse to read a delightful picture book.    Books Mentioned in this Episode:   1- A Tribute of Fire by Sariah Wilson 2- The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks   3- A Thousand Ships by Natalie Haynes   4- The Schwa was Here by Neal Shusterman   5- Greek and Roman Warfare: Battles, Tactics, and Trickery by John Drogo Mortagu   6- A Monsoon Rising by Thea Gaunzon   7- Roland Rogers Isn't Dead Yet by Samantha Leigh Allen   8- A Book Recommended by Fellow Book Lover Corinne @she.loves.bookshelves - A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Send us a textToday is the day we all do our best to take it…seriously. All the girthy 784 pages of this big boy must be discussed. And as the longest of the bunch (according to some) all we can do is grab onto that headboard and just like Nesta, “climb [that] mountain.”But seriously… today is the day Ashley and Liz  go over the final (for now) book in the ACOTAR series: A Court of Silver Flames by Miss Sarah J. Maas. We discuss why this book is so polarizing, how we feel about the mental health representation, our favorite parts, quotes, characters, and maybe what we didn't love so much about it. And we also give spoiler free star and spice ratings for those of you who maybe are on the fence about this one, or just haven't gotten here yet! And don't worry, we've also got a special dad-themed fave of the week and a fail involving Whole 30 and technology… what a surprise! ACOFAE Podcast Presents: The Love Hypothesis: "Let me have this." Surprise! It's a romance in the middle of November on ACOFAE! Are you surprised? Jessica Marie sure was when Laura Marie pitched this book to her. Keeping with the theme of finding a bit of joy, ACOFAE is covering The Love Hypothesis for reasons. One of which being, Laura Marie loves Adam Driver. ACOFAE loves fan fiction and when those two are put together and then reworked and published, you have ACOFAE'S attention. There are other reasons discussed, that include meeting Adam Driver, worry not. Olive is a potential grad student when she meets (but doesn't meet) the man that inspires her to continue her journey in Science. Dr. Carlsen fell first and ACOFAE loves that. An academic romance that's serious when it needs to be, The Love Hypothesis made Laura Marie kick her feet and giggle - love that for her. He's built like a refrigerator. I can't believe we are at the final (as of now) book in the ACOTAR series but alas we are! We are back in Prythian this week but with a different POV: Cassian and Nesta. Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive ... and just about everyone is sick of her behavior. Cassian, the battle-scarred warrior, is the only one left who even wants to attempt to help her. But her temper isn't the only thing Cassian ignites. The fire between them is undeniable, and only burns hotter as they are forced into close quarters with each other. This episode is cover Part 1 and almost all of Part 2 of this book and next week will we cover the second half. SARAH J. MAAS may have tried with A COURT OF SILVER FLAMES, but hasn't written one too long for us yet! Political wunderkind and human-turned-fae-by-mystical-creation-myth-cauldron Nesta is running from her problems in self-destructive ways. So her sister, her sister's mate, and her sister's mate's B-Fri's seclude her a mountain mansion until she can turn that frown upside down. The B-Fri in charge is Cassian, a bat-hunk who knows a thing or two about regret as well as tai chi as well as battle training, but is lacking in Diplomacy. I think you know where this is going. (A five page beej scene). How does the structure of a romance differ from a fantasy? And what are the nuances of both? What's going on with the portrayal of the Illyrians? WHERE IS THE THREESOME??? Shoot us a rude gesture down the bond if you must, just make sure to listen first.
