Can you imagine a time when a U.S. President and a Canadian Prime Minister were friends? ... And said nice things about each other in public? ... And the nice things they said about each other in public were neither remarkable nor newsworthy? Well, here's proof that such a time once existed: "The fact that we go on, we got along, President Reagan and Prime Minister Mulroney, two some said Irish, we were Irish, now that I think of it, and we became friends. But more to the point. We recognized the importance of getting along. It sent a positive message not only to our senior officials and our governments to work together, but to the people of Canada and the United States." That was the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney, Prime Minister of Canada ... April 5th 1993 ... At a tribute in his honor ... Hosted by Ronald Reagan ...The event was held in Simi Valley California at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum. Not used to hearing such language? Earlier this year, we were fortunate to interview holocaust historian, curator and American Jewish University professor Dr. Michael Berenbaum. He joined Coffee with Closers to preview the opening of “Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away.” This world-renowned traveling exhibition is currently at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley California. In light of the recent atrocities in Israel, we've decided to re-air the episode. Dr. Berenbaum sheds light on the significance of educating people of all ages about one of humanity's darkest chapters and the profound lessons it holds for our present times.Due to overwhelming demand, “Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away.” was extended through January 28, 2024 at the Reagan Library.
Today we open with giving Dan crap for being almost an hour late. Technology and Dan suck. Then we smoothly transition into Biden and the stupid decisions being made to transform America, unilaterally to "green energy" despite the fact that petrol is used for "green energy". We then don't mention the guy's name who came from Simi Valley California, Roske, but we do and talk about the only Darwin Award Winner who survived (thanks Evan). Finally, Rex needs to listen to the end, and Crummy gave us the idea for a new drinking game. College kids, listen to learn...you will 100% love this game. Onemoreandimouttahere.com. "What does it look like to love God for the next ten minutes? What does it look like to love the person in front of me for the next ten minutes? That’s the Great Commandment." ~ Jan Johnson Jan Johnson is a spiritual director, speaker, instructor at Richmont Graduate University, and writer of 22 books (!!). She says that everything she writes or speaks on flows out of these three areas: spiritual formation, partnering with God in caring for the voiceless, and living with purposeful intentionality. Isn’t that lovely? She lives in Simi Valley California with her husband, has two adult children and two little grandbabies. In Heaven we’re going to try to live next door to each other. ;) I can’t wait for you to meet her today on DD Episode 33. All show notes: www.susiedavis.org
