On today's all new edition of the cast, we go over some of the hard-rock/metal acts that made an appearance on the Modern Rock Tracks chat over the years, and how their little foray into that world filled in the gap and found their niche among listeners who don't casually listen to their music in the first place. We talk about Metallica's reign on the chart, and how they found most of their success so late into their careers with "I Disappear" amidst the whole Napster controversy surrounding it. We also talk about bands such as Buckcherry who charted late into their careers with "Crazy Bitch", and it how showed the musical diversity of the chart, and the ability of bands from all different musical backgrounds to find a commonplace amongst all the different alternative acts of the era. We also look at how even AC/DC was able to chart late into their careers with "Rock N Roll Train" from their Walmart exclusive "Black Ice" album, and at the end of the cast talk about Worcester's own Godsmack and their chart history, along with playing you their Top 10 charted hit from 2001 "Voodoo".

Since the release of the song "Lit Up" in 1999, Buckcherry's no frills rock and roll has been a staple on rock radio and in the live concert circuit. It was few years later though that the song "Crazy Bitch" was released making Buckcherry a plantium selling rock band and a household name. Since then they've continuied to do what they do, the way they want to do it, without comprimising who they are. Their 11th studio album is entitled Roar Like Thunder and it's out now. Lead singer Josh Todd joins myself (Cutter) and my morning show co-host Laura Lee for a conversation about rock and roll, playing live, Justins, and the "F" word.

Guitarist Stevie Dacanay—better known as Stevie D—has been a defining force in Buckcherry since joining the band during its 2005 revival. After Buckcherry's brief hiatus in the early 2000s, the reformed lineup, featuring Stevie D alongside founding vocalist Josh Todd, breathed new life into the band's hard rock roots. His guitar work helped shape their comeback album 15, which launched hits like “Crazy Bitch” and “Sorry,” and reestablished Buckcherry as a mainstay in the modern rock world.Fast forward to 2025, and Stevie D is still going strong with Buckcherry, releasing the band's eleventh studio album, Roar Like Thunder, on June 13. The record was produced by longtime collaborator Marti Frederiksen, who has worked with the band on several previous albums. The writing process for Roar Like Thunder began in late 2023, with Stevie D and Josh Todd trading ideas both on tour and in Stevie's home studio before finishing the songs in Nashville. From an initial batch of about 20 tracks, they selected 10 to record, focusing on high-energy rock without ballads or covers.The album captures Buckcherry's trademark sound—loud, fast, and unapologetically raw. Stevie D described the writing sessions as spontaneous and collaborative, with some songs beginning as simple melodies from Josh that he and Frederiksen later fleshed out into full arrangements. The goal, according to the band, was to deliver a record that rocks from start to finish and reflects their chemistry and confidence after two decades of working together.To support the album, Buckcherry launched a new North American tour in June 2025. The live set includes material from Roar Like Thunder. With a lineup rounded out by bassist Kelly LeMieux, drummer Francis Ruiz, and guitarist Billy Rowe, Stevie noted that the current band is as tight and focused as ever—thanks in part to detailed demos that gave everyone a strong head start before hitting the studio and the stage.Over the years, Stevie D has played a key role in keeping Buckcherry's momentum alive. Producer/bassist Jim Reilley will most likely be remembered as a founding member (along with musical partner Reese Campbell) of seminal folk rock band The New Dylans. Founded in 1986,the band barnstormed the US throughout the 90's and won critical praise from Rolling Stone (who called their songs “offbeat classics”) and virtually every other major music publication and major newspaper. The Village Voice placed the band in the top 5 Ep's of 1986 in their prestigious Pazz and Jop Poll. The band won the hearts and minds of many fans in the then burgeoning AAA American radio format and had several feature spots on important tastemaking radio shows including NPR's All Things Considered, Idiot's Delight with Vin Scelsa, Partridge Family Imp Danny Bonaduce's WLUP show, Mountain Stage, WXPN's World Café and Acoustic Café.
