This week's episode is EPISODE 50!!!!!! I cant believe I've done 50 episodes already. I thought for this one it would be fun to dig into the wild and crazy ride that is Throwing a Wrench Into The American Music Machine by Training For Utopia, this time I didn't take the ride alone and I called up my buddy Bryan Patton from the As the Story Grows podcast to give his thoughts and history with TFU and this bizarre and classic record.Follow DFT'S DungeonPatreon: https://bit.ly/3UlV4puShirts: https://dfts-dungeon.myshopify.com/Facebook: https://bit.ly/3qWDApMTwitter: https://bit.ly/3DDa50fInstagram: https://bit.ly/3UioAwoYoutube: https://bit.ly/3LmRqYmSpotify: https://spoti.fi/3RVbOCnLast.FM: https://bit.ly/3qKGVVmEmail: dftdungeon@gmail.comJoin the DFT Dungeon Discord Server!https://discord.gg/ADVqFYpT6qhttps://www.dftdungeon.com

Travis Turner (Former host of As the Story Grows) sits down with me this week to talk all about And Justice For All by Metallica. We talk about how we both obtained the album in our younger years, hiding cassette tapes from our parents, we make a guide on what songs off of Justice you should show your parents and which ones you shouldn't, we talk about Lar's drumming, we talk about the bass or lack thereof, and ultimately we try to pin point exactly what it is about Justice that makes it unique within Metallica's body of work.Follow DFT'S DungeonPatreon: https://bit.ly/3UlV4puFacebook: https://bit.ly/3LnPleQTwitter: https://bit.ly/3DDa50fInstagram: https://bit.ly/3UioAwoYoutube: https://bit.ly/3LmRqYmSpotify: https://spoti.fi/3RVbOCnLast.FM: https://bit.ly/3qKGVVmEmail: dftdungeon@gmail.comJoin the DFT Dungeon Discord Server!https://discord.gg/wSpc8WcRBphttps://www.dftdungeon.com
Bryan Patton of As the Story Grows joins me on this episode to discuss a record that is very near and dear to our hearts. Inlet demands introspection and exploration from the listener. If you want to stand out from your competitors, Don explains why “clarity is key” and how you can avoid the costly mistakes business owners make. Then he discusses why money is not bad and the compelling reasons you should have more of it. What you will learn: People like to hear about themselves Invite people into your story Your story needs red, yellow, and green sentences Clarity is key Keep things simple Know your worth Incentivize people to make money and spend money Develop a routine to win the day Quotes: “Story is the most powerful tool known to man that can keep somebody's attention.” – Donald Miller “One of the things that is true is that people like to hear about themselves, and like it or not, they're always scanning the information that we share and asking themselves, ‘How is this going to help me succeed? How is this going to help me make money, keep money, feel loved, join a tribe, secure resources?'” – Donald Miller “The way we talk about what we do really matters because people decide, do I want to know more or do I not want to know more, based on the first few words we say.” – Donald Miller “Now, what happens when we're a brand and we position our products and what we offer as being able to deliver a climactic scene at some point your in your life in the future, you drive engagement towards your products.” – Donald Miller “Be really clear and invite your customers into a story in which you talk about their problem, talk about how you can solve it, and talk about what their life looks like after you solve it.” – Donald Miller “The human brain likes to take the path of least resistance, not because it's lazy, but because it's dealing with so much information every day that it's going to do what's easiest.” – Donald Miller “You are not worth a percentage of what the company makes. You're not. What you're actually worth is what you can be replaced for on the open market.” – Donald Miller “It doesn't matter if you're wealthy or poor. It's what you do with your time, your words, and your money.” – Donald Miller “You're focusing on just one day at a time, and suddenly now there's two days of winning, three days, and before you know it, you've won seven days by focusing just on that one morning routine.” – Derrick Kinney “We need to understand money is good. Money buys food, money buys shelter, money buys medicine, money buys education, money buys the future and we've got to stop being ashamed of it.” – Donald Miller Free Valuable Report for our Listeners: “3 Beliefs About Money Your Kids Should Learn That No One is Teaching Them” https://goodmoneyframework.com Follow The Good Money Show on Instagram! https://www.instagram.com/goodmoneyframework Recommended Resources: Business Made Simple by Donald Miller (https://amzn.to/3wUd2n0)

Afterdark - Underoath Discography DiscussionWe’re switching things up this week. No interview. Instead I’m sharing last week’s episode of our Patreon Podcast, After Dark. Recently I’ve decided to take inspiration from our friends at Discography Discussion and deep dive different band’s catalogs for the Patreon show. Last week I was joined by longtime listener and Patreon member Ben Pike to discuss Underoath’s discography. Ben and I had some disagreements about the various records and I thought the dialog about nostalgia and how reunions can change your opinion about a favorite band was worth sharing with the larger As the Story Grows audience.----------Music:Underoath - "Reinventing Your Exit"Underoath - "Innocence Stolen"Underoath - "The Last"Underoath - "When The Sun SleepsUnderoath - "Young And Aspiring"Underoath - "A Moment Suspended In Time"Underoath - "A Fault Line A Fault Of Mine"Underoath - "In Division"Underoath - "It Has To Start Somewhere"Underoath - "Writing On the Walls"---As The Story Grows links:Help out at PatreonATSG WebsiteATSG Music and MerchJoin the Email ListATSG FacebookEmail: asthestorygrows@gmail.comYouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNuP0_JUpT6DoIhhbGlwEYA?view_as=subscriber

Nu-Metal May rolls on with P.O.D. on this episode of Discography Discussion. P.O.D. was the band in the late 90’s that made “Christian rock” acceptable for the masses. It’s hard to talk about a band that objectively had a major influence in the post 9/11 music scene. We decided to call in Bryan Patton of the “As the Story Grows” podcast to help us shine some light on these innovators. Chapter 136: "Hand it down and walk away" ...as read by Trav Hey gang. It is with both pleasure and sorrow that I am being interviewed on my own show. My very good friend Jeremy Hunt asked if he could flip the script and interview me. His timing couldn't have been more perfect. This will be my last podcast for ATSG and I'm going to be passing this torch over to Bryan Patton. I may pop in now and again (like when you go back and visit your friends at your old job) but moving forward the show is in the very able hands of Bryan. It's time. Thank you Jeremy for this interview. Thank you Bryan for the countless hours of help over the past two years. Thank you Stephen for helping me get this off the ground. Thank you to each patron who was generous enough to flip me a few bucks over the years. THANK YOU to every guest who's ever been on and every person who's ever listened. I love you. Take care. A flourishing garden in dumpsters; a beehive to show how communities work; children learning their "cosmic address" by growing carrots. Inspired by the Universe Story of evolution, Jane Riddiford and Rod Sugden of Global Generation are helping to shape London's busiest construction zone. Jane and Rod, staff and volunteers are catalyzing a community with opportunities to garden, eat, and learn together. Here, construction workers, local families, refugees, Muslim immigrant kids, and office workers connect with each other and with natural rhythms still pulsing under the concrete. Some ideas we talk about: -The Universe Story as a source of values -How modern people can develop a sense of being indigenous -How we can have creative, functional cities that allow people to be different -Living in three levels of history: cultural history, our contributions to the future, and our cosmic history -How a garden is a 3D metaphor for something coming from nothing -A Maori myth in London—The Three Baskets of Knowledge: I, We, and the Planet -What is ritual? -The work of GG alumni: young Muslims connecting the environment with their spirituality and enlisting nature as a model of diverse communities Music in this episode is "Bathed in Fine Dust," by Andy G.
