Greg can't wait to see what Skenes can do because he's must-watch television. Greg talked about some of the great pitchers he watched growing up in comparison to Skenes. Greg thinks Endy Rodriguez will see plenty of time playing 1B this season and could see action there on Opening Day. Greg thinks it will be ‘a while' before we see Jared Jones as we await the second opinion on his injury. Bubba Chandler is the next in line and Greg doesn't expect it to take too long before we see him. Martin Cumba Jr. from Sun Chevy joined the show. Martin talked about a time he was giving Ron Cook a ride in a corvette. Martin has worked with multiple charities in the area and one in particular that favors the automobile fans. Martin has placed a matching donation threshold for the listeners and Chris donated $1,000 (as part of his Penguins preseason bet). Martin talked about his tie in to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and his experiences working with them. He discussed making as big of an impact as possible. Betsy O'Leary from the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank joined the show. Betsy talked about her experience as a volunteer with the Food Bank, which she started over 15 years ago when she was still actively working. She always had her sights set on the Food Bank due to the impact that it has on the community and the families in it.

Send us a textWhen Ted Anthony put pen to paper as a 10-year-old defending Pirates broadcaster Milo Hamilton in the Post-Gazette, little did he know it would launch a lifetime journey through words, baseball, and the stories that connect us all. In this captivating conversation, the Pulitzer Prize-nominated Associated Press journalist traces an extraordinary path from listening to Game 7 of the 1979 World Series on shortwave radio in China to reporting from conflict zones in Afghanistan. Ted shares the deeply human moments that defined his career – photographing an Afghan waiter who had never seen his own image, hearing Pirates broadcaster Greg Brown's voice mysteriously appearing on his phone in North Korea, and witnessing the electric atmosphere of the 2013 Wild Card "blackout" game at PNC Park.Baseball emerges as the constant thread throughout Ted's life, connecting generations and preserving memory. He recounts bringing his elderly mother, a devoted Bill Robinson fan, back to PNC Park after decades away; his grandfather's correspondence with Mark Twain about cigar bands; and his grandmother's devotion to keeping baseball scorecards for his grandfather. Each story reveals how personal experiences weave into the larger tapestry of community and shared history. The conversation takes fascinating detours through Ted's book "Chasing the Rising Sun," which traces an iconic American song's journey across continents, and the surprising connections between his son and former Pirate Travis Snider. Throughout it all, Ted's brilliant storytelling reminds us that whether we're listening to a game on the radio, scanning box scores, or passing down Pirates memories, these shared experiences form the beating heart of what makes a place like Pittsburgh special.Take a journey with Ted Anthony and discover how baseball, journalism, and the power of story can transport us through time and across the world while keeping us firmly rooted in what matters most.THANK YOU FOR LISTENING!!!!www.holdmycutter.com

If anyone outside of the clubhouse has their finger on the pulse of the Pittsburgh Pirates, it's long time play by play announcer Greg Brown. We are fortunate to have him join us on this episode to take a peek into the 2025 Pirates. With few roster roster and coaching changes can we expect much of the same or does one of the best young pitching staffs in baseball lead by All Rookie of the Year and CY Young candidate Paul Skenes take this team to a level they have not seen since 2013-2015.    Lets jump right into the off season, the team spent under 12 million dollars to fill spots that were in need. Did they really address these needs with upgrades when all they did were 1 year deals with aging veterans or guys looking for an opportunity?   Who would you say is the most important acquisition of the off season?    Spencer Horwitz was traded for in a 3 team deal to be a mainstay hopefully at first base. Coming in, Ben Cherrington knew that a wrist injury has been an issue. Why did he make the deal and if so why give up so much starting with Luis Ortiz?   With Horwitz out now, who will play first base in his absence? What is the timeline from his return and what can the Pirates expect from him.   Recently, the Pirates signed Tommy Pham, a 37 year old journeyman outfielder. Why? He has a history and a not so favorable one at that.    What role does Isiah Kiner-Falefa play on the 2025 Pirates? He has been known predominantly as a highly productive utility player but word on the street is that he could be the everyday shortstop and that's not his strong suit.   Where will the power source come from with this team? Andrew McCutcheon at 38 years old and Bryan Reynolds could be two sources.    Before we move on to the pitching staff, share what you believe will be the most days starting 8 (I know Shelton has his Sunday lineup).   Paul Skenes is a generational player. What can Pirate fans expect next from him after he was an All-Star, Rookie of the Year and a Cy Young candidate in his ¾ of a season.   Can Jared Jones maintain his #2 role? It looks like he will be needed to replicate his success from last year or will Mitch Keller swap spots with him to alleviate some of the pressure and innings.    Please project the starting five pitchers.    How did the Pirates help their bullpen?  Will Bednar and Holderman bounce back from somewhat disappointing seasons and what makes you believe that?   You've been around Pirate baseball for 31 years, why should fans trust that this team is going to be different based on what they know from the off season and past recent seasons.   Are Derek Shelton and Ben Cherrington sitting on hot seats?      Instead of predicting a record lets say will they be over or under 82 wins this season?   Rashene Hill rage against the Rashene- Instagram  Rashene Hill-facebook  @rashenehill-tik tok rj the hill-x Michael “Chops” Mills @therealbigchops  Terry “T-sizzle” Young : Instagram and Twitter @1tyoungy Kevin Watson:@coachkwatt10 on threads Facebook: Kevin Watson Mike Neubeiser: X and Instagram @CoachNeub  ===========================  CONNECT WITH US  ===========================  Check out our websites, social media and networks we are featured on:  https://www.originalsportspodcast.com    Find us on Facebook, X, And SnapChat @ OSPwithMM   https://www.facebook.com/OSPwithMM  https://twitter.com/OSPwithMM      OSP   Follow our Instagram, TikTok, Twitch and YouTube @  OriginalSportsPodcast https://www.instagram.com/originalsportspodcast   OriginalSportsPodcast  https://www.twitch.tv/ospwithmarkmaradei  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVZuudj681oIAbnscyHBa0g?view_as=subscriber    You can also use our LinkTree to access all our locations at : https://linktr.ee/Originalsportspodcast    Find us on: Let's Talk Sports Network, https://sidelinesportsnet.com/  and Elite Sports and Entertainment Network. https://linktr.ee/ESENetwork , https://manningmediainc.com/ , https://www.peakonesportsnetwork.com/    Catch OSP on ROKU weekly on National Stream Sports www.NEESP.info  Tuesday Nights from 7-8 pm  ===========================  Feel free to let us know if you have any comments or questions By emailing us at: OriginalSportsPodcast@gmail.com Voice intro: Steve Medley Music by Charlie Hodgson Join us every week to Experience the “O” on the Original Sports Podcast!!! @FunFootballPod @FootballKnow32 @SmokinJeremy @dailygrindpod @jennacheryl @QueenofHoop @rachmariesports @SteveB7SFG @scottGOLIONS @JuanPerezJr7 @ChiefsNana @DaSportChatter @TravisDHolmes @MikeBrodskyFL @TheSoTG @CD3Gator @cduvall30 @TribuneCity @john_nufc42 @always_chiefs @joshuaburs @rodpedersen @BillfromBoynton @phins93 @mikecalheta @NelliNel13 @Sportsteamnews @ChiefsChic87 @RButler723 @ShkBkMediaGrp @TomKorun @pblake1003 @Montejp231 @TheOffSeasonCFB @Blitz_Burgh @TheStandard412 @NflKramer @NYsportsGoat @madchadandeddie @BSenopole @profootballman1 @ClaudioReilsano @Topoffsports @SportsPodiumPodcast @TheMicDr @MarLovelace1 @100Sanford @coachmaradei @Letstalksports @TribuneSouth @BBALLBABE6 @NFLDraftEd @Key103Radio @1069THEEAGLE  @ShkBkMediaGrp @MunnseyTalks @JB_ThePROgram @ecwilson76 @LandersTalks @Mancinisports @GridironXtra @GridironGrubb @GridironZeroes @GridironGuru2 @OSPwithMM @thrillofsports @SmokeyHellNFL @jennachery @ShkBkMediaGrp @SteveB7SFG @CFBWeekly @ecwilson76 @LandersTalks @RadioJakeTaylor @tssjester @1tyoungy  @coachneub @MediaManning @ListenFrederick @ListenHubCity  @therealbigchops @PeakOneSports @bradwalker3083 @TBBucs5 @ShkBkMediaGrp @JB_ThePROgram @BrutallyHones @Montejp231 @GridironGuru2 @OSPwithMM @TheyCallMeMrYu @southfloridatribune @rodpedersen @CatsNBoltsPod @RodPedersenShow @JoshuaDoor954 @bradwalker3083  @High_Low_Sports  @SmokinJeremy @DaSportChatter @BillfromBoynton @phins93 @WindyCityDig @bradwalker3083 @JB_ThePROgram @FunFootballPod @rachmariesports @scottGOLIONS @MichiganMan_2 @DaSportChatter @LegitFBPods @TribuneCity @TheTouchdownNFL @always_chiefs   https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVZuudj681oIAbnscyHBa0g https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/original-sports-podcast-with-mark-maradei/id1504014103 https://open.spotify.com/show/3bMNxHBGw0V61LtpSuKh2u https://www.audible.com/pd/Steel-City-Nation-Podcast-Podcast/B08JJMND3F https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5idXp6c3Byb3V0LmNvbS85NDM0MjMucnNz https://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-steel-city-nation-podcast-60538738/ https://www.twitch.tv/ospwithmarkmaradei/videos  https://linktr.ee/Originalsportspodcast  https://linktr.ee/ESENetwork https://linktr.ee/truthbetoldsports?utm_source=linktree_profile_share<sid=27aeb327-ebe2-4330-98a6-b7ee0188d490
