After unleashing their genre defining Doom EP, Arizona deathcore upstarts Job For A Cowboy inked a deal with legendary label Metal Blade Records. Rather than simply replicate the formula that launched them, the band shed their early influences and took a bold step forward, crafting an intense brutal and conceptual piece of brutality for their debut full-length. While this shift left some longtime fans perplexed, it also began a legacy defined by progressive, technical, and politically charged albums that carried the band into the early 2010s. The group was founded by vocalist Danny Leal, who remains the central figure of the band, known for his powerful growls and charismatic stage presence. The band released their debut album, The World Is Ours, in 2010 under Sumerian Records. This album set the tone for their musical direction, featuring heavy breakdowns, aggressive riffs, and a raw intensity that resonated with fans of the genre. Songs like "Intermission" and "Scarface" showcased their ability to merge brutal metal elements with catchy hooks, setting them apart from many of their peers. In 2012, they followed up with their second album, Red. White. Green., which continued to build on their established sound.

Hard to believe it's been a decade since Job For A Cowboy graced us with Sun Eater yet here we are on the eve of Moon Healer (Metal Blade) and we couldn't be more stoked for it if we tried. This band occupies a special spot for most of here on staff as they exemplify our varied tastes in death metal and all things extreme. With this album that statement couldn't be more true as it is wildly all over the map yet cohesive and heavy as lead at the same time. Ian screamed the loudest when the news dropped of a new album so it was the obvious choice to get him on with our podcast maestro Buke to discuss all things Job For A Cowboy with bassist Nick Schendzielos. The guys cover the obvious items but as per usual they cover a whole lot more so get comfy and settle in for a spell. Enjoy. 9C LINKS: Website | Facebook | Twitter | Instagram
After a 10 year hiatus we are joined for a mind blowing chat with Job For A Cowboy's Nick Schendzielos around their latest album release Moon Healer. We are shocked to learn that the decade absence was actually planned, and the new album is a conceptual follow up to their 2014 release Sun Eater. Nick explains what the members been up to throughout the years and that this piece is partly an expression of how we as humans perceive the layers of space and time. We also dive into subjects of self-discovery, ancient hallucinogenic, esoteric wisdom, and learn what the future hold for the band.

The iconic extreme experimental death metal line-up of Job For A Cowboy had some long-awaited unfinished business. After nearly nine long years of silence, they have awoken from their slumber, forging Moon Healer, the follow-up to their previous landmark album, Sun Eater. The new album will be released on February 23rd, 2024, via Metal Blade Records. Concerning Moon Healer, we said: Though let's clear something up, this is not just a Job for A Cowboy nostalgia run, I don't think the band would have bothered if they didn't have anything fresh to bring to the table. Especially as nine years is a very long time in music, and the metal world has been constantly moving forward. So, it is delightful to find Job for A Cowboy stepping up in so many areas to tower above many a pretender of the technical and progressive death metal sound. If you're hoping this album is as challenging as it is savage, you're in luck, because Moon Healer is undeniably this, and so much more. Jon For a Cowboy vocalist Jonny Davy discusses the band's latest album, 'Moon Healer,' and why he wasn't sure if they'd ever put out another album after 'Sun Eater.'
Interview by Kris PetersIn the modern age of music, it is important - almost vital - to maintain a steady output of music and engagement with your fans. People's increasingly shorter attention spans, coupled with the sheer volume of new bands and music being released daily, combine to ensure bands that aren't active, don't survive.Pure and simple. But try telling that to experimental death metal outfit Job For A Cowboy, who have let a staggering ten years elapse between records. The band have taken their time in following up the critically acclaimed 2014 release Sun Eater, preferring to patiently harness their creative impulses and allow them to ferment until the band was happy. The result is Moon Healer, set for release on February 23, an album that maintains the rage and aggression associated with Job For A Cowboy's music, but also expands on their conventional sound. It is an album that has already garnered immense interest and positive reaction from critics who have heard it, and marks but one more step on Job For A Cowboy's path to musical enlightenment.Vocalist Jonny Davy sat down for a chat with HEAVY to tell us more."This band has been around, shockingly - although it doesn't feel like it - for a good 20 years," he began. "After about a ten-year hiatus, we're about to come out with our new album called Moon Healer. I am pumped."We ask what the period is like after finishing an album and having to sit by and wait for it to be unleashed on the public."At this point, it's in the past," he replied. "We've taken a break from it, and in hindsight we're looking back already and seeing what we would have done differently, or talking about what we want to do for the next record. It's been a long, long, arduous process, but we're finally here."We ask Davy about the musical side of Moon Healer and what the band was going for sonically."The band has evolved quite a bit since its origins," he measured. "We kinda started off pretty much as a cookie cutter deathcore band, and then we progressed into more modern death metal and after the release of Genesis we started sprinkling in the genres like technical death metal and now even some progressive elements. I think a lot of people recognise the band is kind of a cauldron of an evolution of sound, and that's our motto right now. We like to challenge, and we're the type of band who don't wanna put out the same record twice."In the full interview, Jonny talks more about Moon Healer, the singles released and how they represent the album, the opening track The Chemical Doorway and its Middle Eastern flavour, the temptation of repeating the formula that made Sun Eater successful, what has changed with Job For A Cowboy since that album, the conceptual elements of Moon Healer, the cover art and how it ties in with the concept, how Job For A Cowboy have changed musically over each album, future plans and more.

JOB FOR A COWBOY frontman Jonny Davy and EXIT EDEN co-vocalist Anna Brunner join us for this week's edition of The Loaded Radio Podcast This week on the Loaded Radio Podcast Scott Penfold sits down first with JOB FOR A COWBOY vocalist Jonny Davy to discuss the death metal outfit's latest album "Moon Healer". “Moon Healer” is set for release on February 23rd via Metal Blade Records. The release marks JOB FOR A COWBOY‘s first new full-length in a decade! “Moon Healer” is a vivid illustration of what happens when creativity, aggression, and volatility tangle for the first time in years. Like the band's critically adored, 2014-released “Sun Eater” offering, “Moon Healer” is musically multifaceted, unabashedly brutal, and compellingly conceptual. Featuring a newly refreshed and reinspired lineup of frontman and co-founder Jonny Davy, guitarists Tony Sannicandro and Al Glassman, bassist Nick Schendzielos, and drummer (since 2020) Navene Koperweis, the band seamlessly picks up the mantle where JOB FOR A COWBOY‘s “Sun Eater” left off. Compared to past offerings, “Moon Healer” is as bone-crushing as JOB FOR A COWBOY has ever been. But it's more consistent and conceptual, composed with the utmost enthusiasm and confidence. “The evolution of our sound has become a big part of the band,” Davy says. “As we mature as musicians, our tastes and interests naturally expand. With age comes more experience and ideas that we wouldn't have considered in our earlier years.” “Moon Healer” was produced by Jason Suecof (DEATH ANGEL, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, DEICIDE) at his Audiohammer Studios and is the first JOB FOR A COWBOY album to feature session drummer Navene Koperweis (ex-Animosity). Davy previously worked with Koperweis in the progressive death metal side project FLESHWROUGHT, which released Dementia/Dyslexia through Metal Blade in 2010. Koperweis also worked as a session drummer for MACHINE HEAD and WHITECHAPEL and is currently in the band ENTHEOS, whose third full-length came out on Metal Blade in March 2023. In the second portion of the podcast, Scott sits down with Anna Brunner from EXIT EDEN. Symphonic metal unit EXIT EDEN, consisting of Clémentine Delauney (VISIONS OF ATLANTIS), Anna Brunner (LEAGUE OF DISTORTION) and Marina La Torraca (PHANTOM ELITE) recently released their second album, “Femmes Fatales” via Napalm Records. “Femmes Fatales” includes 12 songs in total — half covers, half original compositions. EXIT EDEN‘s new release follows the band's debut, 2017's “Rhapsodies In Black”, which garnered millions of video views (12 million on EXIT EDEN‘s cover of Bonnie Tyler‘s “Total Eclipse Of The Heart” alone). Previous singles from “Femmes Fatales”, “Run!” (featuring ex-NIGHTWISH bassist/vocalist Marko Hietala) and “Separate Ways” (JOURNEY cover) have already surpassed a million views since their respective releases in October and December 2023. Now performing as a trio, EXIT EDEN‘s new full-length follows the path of its predecessor, as it contains six cover versions of famous cross-generational super-hits, but this time also shines by offering six original compositions. With one exception (“Dying In My Dreams”, co-written by Marina La Torraca),the remaining five original songs were brought to life by Brunner and Hannes Braun (KISSIN' DYNAMITE),who is also responsible for recording, production and mixing, whereas the album was mastered by Jacob Hansen (DELAIN, AMARANTHE, VOLBEAT, DESTRUCTION and many more). Self-confidently leading straight into the tempting world of EXIT EDEN, opening “Femme Fatale”, “Buried In The Past” and “Hold Back Your Fear” conjure a mystical atmosphere with strings and orchestral elements, topped by complementary vocals uniting the sonic diversity of the all-femme trio. “Dying In My Dreams” and album closing “Elysium” set the tone as captivating mid-tempo tracks with intense choruses that speak straight to the heart.
Motörhead had experienced a lot of adversity and change by the time they reached the ‘90s. With a four year gap between releases, the band traded one tumultuous record label relationship for the next and leader Lemmy Kilmister made the continental move from England to LA. This was a time for reinvention, but in true Motörhead fashion that just meant putting out the best version of what the band had to offer and that was loud, fast rock ‘n' roll. Join us in celebrating a hidden gem of sorts from a band that was known for doing what they wanted, when they wanted, & how they wanted. Hope you're ready for some death metal destruction, because Sanguissugabogg frontman Devin Swank is the guest for this week's edition of The MetalSucks Podcast. As an Ohio native, we couldnt' help but ask him how he became a die hard Minnesota Vikings fan and the sports chat continued a bit as we asked him what his least favorite sporting event to watch live is. But don't worry — this isn't going to be a strictly jock episode, since we also chat about the last video game he finished and the last book he read. You can rest easy, nerds. We also chat about what it's like to star in a music video where he had to portray heavy violence on band members, as well as the importance of getting to take enough time as a band to complete Homicidal Ecstasy. Aside from our chat with Devin, Petar and Brandon discuss Pantera getting removed from festivals in Germany and Austria due to his past racist actions, Biohazard reuniting and possibly doing new music, the return of Job For A Cowboy, and Marilyn Manson's latest legal update. For Episode 91, I'm joined by Andy Corpus. If you were going to shows from the late 90s into the late 2000s, you likely saw his band Twelve Tribes. We talk a lot about Twelve Tribes and some of the crazy tours they went on, as well as working with Eulogy and Ferret for their releases. A lot of bands that would become pretty influential in metalcore were hitting their stride in this era and Twelve Tribes toured with several of them. After Twelve Tribes disbanded Andy went on to guitar tech for bands like Hawthorne Heights, Job For A Cowboy, and Bullet For My Valentine. We talk about these experiences as well. https://www.gofundme.com/f/enterprise-hardcore-podcast-video-equipment https://www.patreon.com/EnterpriseHardcorePodcast https://www.instagram.com/enterprisehardcorepodcast https://www.facebook.com/EnterpriseHardcorePodcast https://mobile.twitter.com/podcasthardcore --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/enterprise-hardcore-podcast/support
Calling all heavy metal fans, may I have your attention please! Oakland, California's Machine Head are about to drop their tenth, ten ton hammer on us all and trust me you are not prepared! In short (for now) 'Of Kingdom and Crown' is without doubt one of the most punishing heavy metal releases the band, who is now in it's fourth decade has ever released. Now that may be a stretch/ a sweeping statement given the bands insane back catalogue of classic metal thickenings but given first singles 'UNHALLØWED' and 'CHØKE ØN THE ASHES ØF YØUR HATE' are only a taste of what's to come then be settled in the fact that this album will sooth your brutal tunes pallet! The course of time has seen some personnel changes and even classic line-ups re entering the MH world to simply celebrate heavy metal history, most recently being the 'Burn My Eyes - Live-In-Studio-2019' which saw original members Logan Mader (Guitars) and Chris Kontos (Drums) join up with Robb Flynn (Vocals/ Guitars) and now long time bassist Jared MacEachern (Bass) for a raw and engaging live (in studio) recording of the classic 94' debut release. Fast forward a few years and with the addition of a pandemic to throw everything into utter chaos, Machine Head have (yet again) come out the other side of hard times with another belter in their collective hands! Joining Robb and Jared on the latest release is the almighty Waclaw Keiltyka (Lead Guitars) of Decapitated fame and Matt Alston on drums, and with the help, due to lockdowns etc. of Navene Koperweis (Studio Drums), former Animal as Leaders drummer who has also worked with the likes of Job For A Cowboy and Whitechapel to name a couple.....talk about a star studded line-up sheeeesh! This I will elaborate more on in the full album review, coming soon! I sat down with Robb to talk about what the last few years have been like in the Machine Head camp and how 'Of Kingdom and Crown' came to be. We talk studio times, vocal harmonies, YouTube live sessions, cover songs, Waclaw's Right hand (if you know you know) and even enter into the guitar "gear head" world and as always we end with a classic story from the one and only Robb Flynn which, of course/ thankfully, included our man Mr. Dimebag Darrell (Pantera/ Damage Plan), what a cracker of a tale it was! So strap yourself in and enjoy some fine wine and words from one of the heavy metal greats, Mr. Robb Flynn.
Metalheads! Tracey calls forth the MySpace sensations Job for a Cowboy for this month's discography blast. We check out their debut EP from 2005 Doom, as well as the three studio albums Genesis (2007), Ruination (2009), and Sun Eater (2014).

Graced with an incredibly fast thumb, Nick “Shinz” Schendzielos has become a highly respected and in-demand bass player. He brings double-thumb, tapping, slapping, chords, and fingerstyle techniques to thrash and death metal—genres whose bass players have traditionally only used fast fingers and pick strokes.Nick complements his deadly serious chops with a killer sense of humor, and through it all, his intense dedication to craft, finding great tone, and creating great music keeps him motivated. He currently dishes out complex low-end grooves for Job For A Cowboy and Cephalic Carnage, to which he also lends his vocals. In the past, he's also played with Havok and Vimana.

Ravi Bhadriraju did more than dream of the Rockstar lifestyle! He lived it as a founding member of the Billboard-charting death metal band Job For A Cowboy. After touring the world, he went back to college in his twenties and is now a Dentist with Sonoran Sky Dental. In this episode Ravi reflects on the common thread between being a touring musician and a dentist. He talks about playing with his music idols and the transition from world tour to college life. He wraps up with some Arizona love, sharing why he moved back after his Rockstar days.
My guest this week is my buddy and one of my long-time favorite drummers, Navene Koperweis. He is the drummer & song-writer in the progressive (death) metal band Entheos. He is also the former drummer of Animals as Leaders & Animosity. He's also tracked drums for the latest Whitechapel record, as well as the upcoming Job For A Cowboy record. He also has an electronic discography under the name, Navene K, as well as some new electronic music in the works. Lastly, he is 1/2 of the KoperCrabb Podcast with his fiancee Chaney Crabb. The man has done a lot, to put it lightly. We talk about working a day job while at home, how he's been keeping busy during the pandemic, then venture into his journey as a touring drummer.

Sometimes a band reaches a fever pitch in popularity to where they become a meme. The sad part is that no matter how good that band is they can sometimes never escape the meme they have been placed in. In the case of Job for a Cowboy, they did everything in their power to escape their past, and put out some records that you probably weren’t expecting. Robb and Nick discuss sex on mushrooms, Rocky Mountain Hydro Grind, how peace-loving most metal fans are, how he inspired the track "Imaginal Cells” / author Bruce Lipton, and the concept of synchronicity and events that seem random, but maybe aren’t.

This week we talk with Jonny Davy, frontman for Serpent of Gnosis and Job for a Cowboy! We discuss the origin of his new project, the five-year delay in his ability to release new music, the possibility of doing a band like Job for a Cowboy part-time, the true difficulty of the financial inconsistencies that come with being in a band, the importance of the hustle to being successful in music, how a lot of things he and his bandmates pitch to one another are intended as jokes prior to becoming a reality, the possibility of touring with this new project, the story behind the photo of the JFAC van burning down, the demand and desire to still tour despite the difficulty of making the stars align to do so, the big question mark of the some future projects, and how 2014's 'Sun Eater' has become such a big fan favorite. Petar, Brandon, and Jozalyn also discuss the tragic news of the passing of Clown from Slipknot's daughter, the quote written on Vinnie Paul's new gravestone, Sanctuary deciding to continue after Warrel Dane's death, Ozzy Osbourne using CBD to manage pain, Gojira guitarist Christian Andreu eating fire, and the scientist who discovered how to boil water with sound. Our guest this week is Nick Schendzielos, bass player for deathcore heavyweights Job For a Cowboy. We talk about his new found work-out regimen, the songwriting process as a newer member of a band, how JFAC operates internally, his music listening styles and Ancient Aliens. MetalSucks co-head-honcho Vince Neilstein drops in to add his two cents about the recent report from Billboard which found that no album released in 2014 has gone platinum, as well as other interesting data about record sales this year. He'll be writing on the topic more extensively later this week, so he gives us a preview and things to think about as you steal the latest albums off the internet. Stavros Giannopoulos also adds his latest installment of "Storytime" with a harrowing tale of "eagle-man" and debauchery in the fine southern front of NOLA. Songs: Job For A Cowboy - "Sun of Nihility"At the Gates - "Death and the Labyrinth"
We know we say new episodes every week, but it's been a while since we took a week off, plus America's funnyman, and one of our heroes, Neil F'N Hamburger is doing a rare performance in the greater NY area, and we just had to go. So, we decided this will be the first Wednesday we do not do a podcast since moving to a new day. Hey, give us a break, alright? But don't worry, we compiled a mixtape of a bunch of special guest call-ins that have happened in recent weeks including phone calls from Jonny Davy of JOB FOR A COWBOY, Snake Sabolnick of A LIFE ONCE LOST, Ian Christe of Bazillion Points Books and SiriusXM Liquid Metal, Tim Lambesis of AS I LAY DYING/AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE, Greg Weeks of THE RED CHORD, Paul Waggoner of BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME and Travis Ryan of CATTLE DECAPITATION playing our gameshow Death or No Death. Also, Sid is bringing his Flip camera tonight so he can show you how much fun we're having not doing the Livecast. That clip should be up a little later in the week. Feel free to to post in the comments why you think we suck for not doing the show tonight. We will be back with a new live episode next week!
We tried something new on this edition of the Livecast, a live chat as the show was going on. Whether it was a good idea or a bad one, we don't know yet. We get a few random callers including a dude holding a dolphin hostage, some party animals in Oklahoma, a young dude in India who listens to our show live on Saturday mornings and (completely randomly) Jonny from Job For A Cowboy. Also, we were joined by "Joey Jordinson" on Slipknot fame, we learn about Rob's teen years, Zakk Wylde's urination habits, ordering weed online and much much more. Here is this week's playlist: NINE INCH NAILS – Piggy (Nothing Can Stop Me Now) MORBID ANGEL – Dominate SYLOSIS – Transcendance EMPYREON – Beyond Perception
