In this episode, Petia invites you into a deeply honest and vulnerable conversation about purpose, calling, and the way God gently unfolds what we're meant to do. If you've been wrestling with the question “What's my purpose?” — this one is for you. It's not about hustle, performance or having all the answers. It's about resting in what God is already doing, recognising what He's placed in your path, and trusting that He has written the story long before you arrived. Petia shares her own journey—shifting from business coaching to leaning into motherhood, the “aha” moments she's been given, and how what once felt too simple is exactly the gift to step into. What You'll Learn Why we often over‑complicate our calling when the Bible shows it's simple (James 4:8, Matthew 7:7). What it looks like to let go of control and allow God to guide the next step rather than you trying to piece everything together. How to recognise when something lights you up and flows easily—this is a clue to your gift and calling. Encouragement to ask: “What am I pretending I'm not seeing?” and “What's so obvious I'm overlooking it?” A fresh perspective: your purpose may be big or small right now—but it will feel life‑giving and God‑led. Practical next steps: Listen for the gentle nudges. Trust the timing. Walk with God one step at a time. Key Verses “Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.” — James 4:8 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” — Matthew 7:7 Why This Matters In a culture of doing, performance and comparison, this conversation offers a breath of fresh faith: God doesn't need our striving. He needs our surrender. He already knows the before, the now and the later. When we partner with Him instead of trying to manufacture everything ourselves, our path becomes clearer—even if the full picture hasn't yet been revealed. Personal Story Petia was reflecting one morning after her Bible reading and realised: “My coaching background has given me business strategy—but it never felt right for my soul. Now that I'm pregnant and walking through motherhood again, I see what lights me up: helping other women who are walking into motherhood, non‑toxic living, holistic nutrition, podcasting…” She shares how she discovered a “common thread” among her clients: pregnant women, women planning for pregnancy, women wanting to live holistically as mamas. And how that thread felt like God saying: ‘Here. This is it.' She also recounts how at a local church conference she connected with a company helping women with unplanned pregnancies—a clear sign that her path, calling and gifting are aligning. Action Steps for You Sit quietly today and ask: “What's so obvious in my path I'm ignoring?” Write down what lights you up—what you do easily, what you talk about without being asked. Ask a trusted friend: “What gift do you see in me that I don't recognise yet?” Choose one small step: maybe a short Instagram reel, a reflection prompt, a prayer asking God for clarity. Remember: if all the blessings came right now, could you handle them? Maybe God is saying: “Not yet—let me prepare you.” Connect With Me Instagram: @Petia or @Made4Impact_Podcast If this episode gave you hope or fresh insight, please share with other women—whether they're believers or exploring faith—so we can bring light and encouragement together. "It's not a venue called the Loading dock. It's literally the loading dock."Live from When We Were Young Festival, we're hanging out with Rob Damiani, frontman of the incredible Don Broco. Rob takes us back to one of the most memorable shows of their career at The Loading Dock in Salt Lake City—a venue that is, quite literally, a loading dock. We get into the band's surprisingly emo history, from their early promo photos with the classic emo fringe to their first band name, "Summer Fall," which, as a British band, didn't quite make sense. Rob also discusses the new music they've been releasing, confirming that a brand new record is finished and set for an early 2026 release. We compare the vibrant energy of the current US alternative scene to the struggles facing small venues back in the UK, and how the Myspace era of DIY tours shaped the band they are today. This conversation connects the past and present of pop punk on both sides of the Atlantic.Key Topics & Timestamps:[00:00:03] The Story of The Loading Dock in Salt Lake City[00:01:16] Winning $200 in a tour dice game[00:02:02] The Most Emo Song Rob is Listening To Right Now[00:05:46] New Music and the Upcoming Record[00:06:37] Comparing the UK and US Music ScenesGuest/Band Links:Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/0_EgNcVRz2z4iERNceAQclInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/donbrocoOfficial Website: https://www.donbroco.com/Tour Dates: https://www.donbroco.com/tourEpisode Highlights:"We had probably one of the most funnest shows we've ever played... in our career there, you know, it's, you know, that big and everyone is just on top of each other.""The kings of f***ing emo. From a babysitter spinning New Found Glory records in South Florida to sharing stages with Simple Plan and State Champs, Jonathon Fraser—better known as Northbound—has crafted a story of indie grit, pop-punk spirit, and relentless drive. In this episode of Bringin' It Backwards, Adam and Tera Lisicky sit down with Jonathon to trace his journey from anxious high schooler in Fort Lauderdale's DIY scene to full-time solo artist in Los Angeles. Jonathon opens up about the early days: burning CDs of bedroom-recorded singles, DIY touring in borrowed vans as a teenager, and navigating the uncertainty of going solo when his bandmates chose college over the road. He details how a chance with Animal Style Records sparked his transition from acoustic storytelling to fully-formed band recordings, eventually leading to his latest chapter with Smart Punk Records. You'll hear about the reality of surviving the industry—touring hardships, financial risks of “making it,” and the drive to simply live comfortably through music. Plus, Jonathon shares candid reflections on moving to LA, staying ambitious after the pandemic derailed big plans, and the lessons he's picked up along the way. Whether you're an aspiring artist or just love hearing the real stories behind the music, this episode is packed with hard-earned wisdom and the kind of authenticity you can only find on Bringin' It Backwards. Nostalgia is one hell of a drug - and music is the best carrier of that magic elixir directly into our brains. While pretty much any song can be propped up as a totem of days past - sometimes songs feel specifically engineered to bring us back to a place and time. While many songs that we’ve covered over the course of this podcast distill the feelings high school awkwardness and teenage angst; (I’m looking at you, Simple Plan and Jimmy Eat World) there’s no song that declares itself as loudly and proudly as a nostalgic teenage anthem like the certified grandaddy of them all - Wheatus’ anthemic ode to lovable Losers everywhere - 2000’s Teenage Dirtbag. Fine, Simple Plan is only sort of punk. Or punk adjacent. They're about as pop punk as pop punk gets. But it makes for a decent episode name. Why, because safety strategy gets oversimplified a lot. Or really, the idea of it gets oversimplified. Most safety strategy is a lot of BS anyway that ends up not being strategic at all.The boys talk about whether or not a safety strategy is even useful. Ron says yes, which is a little surprising given his stance in Episode 2 that safety people aren't really that necessary. Ben and Dave (and probably Ron, too) instead argue that what we call strategy is mostly just a PowerPoint-flavored attempt at looking busy and useful. Safety isn't the business. It's a support function (a really important one, but it's still support, not the product) like accounting and HR. Those folks are rocking out 3-year strategy plans with big ideas about how Accounts Payable will be reinventing finance. The organization has a strategic view - a big one - that other departments and divisions are meant to support. So maybe the best safety strategy is how we draw connections to support the broader strategy. You value innovation? Cool. We'd better get confident in how we understand risk and build systems that allow us to experiment without things turning into chaos. What'd you say about profitability? If we're working hard to understand work and get rid of dumb stuff, we're increasing efficiency.Aside from those discussions, a whole lot of safety is tactical, right? That's where adaptability lives, and that's usually a part of what we want. Drawing out a three-year plan doesn't really scream adaptability - at least in the way it's often done. The principles we're trying to achieve in safety don't really change, do they? It's the day-to-day management of risk and adaptation that does, and that means it isn't strategy. So, instead of creating problems to solve and putting them on a slide deck, maybe it's better to identify the top one or two things that really need our attention and go solve for those. That's how experts work - not that the boys are experts - but it's a good indicator that your teams aren't checking in on the mission and vision posters as they make safety decisions.Cool. Carry on, punks. DISCLAIMER: You probably shouldn't take anything in this podcast too seriously. Punk Rock Safety is for entertainment only. It's definitely not a replacement for professional or legal advice, and the fair amount of piss-taking, shithousery, and general ridiculousness ought to clue you into the fact that no one - and no organization - is endorsing (or un-endorsing, if that's a thing) any products, ideas, or other things. Except NOFX. We definitely endorse them.Oh, and give your money to Punk Rock Saves Lives. They're a rad organization that works in mental health, addiction, and human rights. And they're awesome people who can use your help to keep on kicking ass at what they do.https://www.punkrocksaveslives.org/Let us know what you think at info@punkrocksafety.com or on our LinkedIn page.Merch at punkrocksafetymerch.com

Simple Plan – “Shut Up!” Lava Records; 2004 2.1/10If teen angst were a currency, Simple Plan would be Canada's largest export. And “Shut Up!” is perhaps their most shrill, sugar-coated contribution to the pop-punk economy: a three-minute tantrum in skinny jeans, flung onto CD like a Hot Topic receipt someone refused to recycle.Released in 2004, a golden era when every mall had at least one screaming adolescent with gelled hair and an authority complex, “Shut Up!” captures the essence of adolescent rage with all the nuance of a fire alarm taped to a skateboard. It's not a song—it's an eye roll set to power chords.Frontman Pierre Bouvier delivers each line like he's been grounded for the weekend and just discovered Linkin Park exists. “Don't tell me who to be!” he cries, in the tone of someone who just got told to take their shoes off in the house. It's an anthem for misunderstood kids everywhere—by which we mean, mostly kids who got a B in maths and think that counts as oppression.Musically, it's the equivalent of punching drywall after being asked to do the dishes. The guitars chug dutifully, the drums go “boom-boom-tap,” and somewhere in the background, the ghost of Green Day sheds a single tear. There's an attempt at a bridge that sounds like it was written in the back of a maths book, and it ends—mercifully—with more shouting. It's unclear whether the listener is supposed to feel empowered or just relieved it's over.Lyrically, it's as if every line was workshopped in an MSN chat room. “Just shut your mouth / Who do you think you are?” asks Pierre, clearly directing his ire at a very rude parent, teacher, or perhaps the concept of adulthood itself. It's emotional depth, brought to you by a packet of Sour Skittles and a half-watched episode of Degrassi.Still, “Shut Up!” did serve a noble purpose: it was the soundtrack to at least a dozen bedroom door slams per suburban household. And in that sense, it's historically significant—if only to warn future generations of what happens when you give a Fender and a recording budget to five dudes who just really hate being told what to do.Best Lyric: “There you go / You never ask why” — bold of them to claim introspection in a song called “Shut Up!” Worst Lyric: “Don't tell me how to live!” — accidentally sums up the entire album. For nearly three decades, Simple Plan has been one of the most successful bands to come out of Canada, selling more than 10 million albums worldwide. Now, a new documentary, “Simple Plan: The Kids in the Crowd” offers a look into the band's journey from playing basement shows in Montreal to achieving global stardom. Simple Plan's Pierre Bouvier and Chuck Comeau sit down with Tom Power to talk about their perseverance in the pop-punk genre, the brotherhood behind the band, and how beautiful and fragile that creative bond can be. In case you missed it, you might also like Tom's interview with Blink-182's Mark Hoppus.

Directed by Didier Charrette, SIMPLE PLAN: THE KIDS IN THE CROWD takes into the simpler times of @simpleplan By offering access into their early basement shows in Montreal and months grinding out the club circuit, the documentary shows how the hard work of kids with a dream gradually led them to global stardom. But the road to fame is far from easy. Whether it was trying to get noticed or trying to please audiences of different styles, Crowd shows the battles that they had to face along the way. In this 1on1, we speak to lead guitarist Jeff Stinco about being inclusive and whether or not they're 'positive punk'.
We are beyond delighted to welcome The Paradox to The Wasting Time Podcast — and even more honoured to be their first ever overseas podcast appearance! In this episode, we dive into the band's meteoric rise over the past year — from opening for Green Day, to dominating When We Were Young Fest and touring across the US non-stop. These guys are living the pop punk dream, and they're just getting started. We also chat about some wild endorsements from A-listers like Shaquille O'Neal, Lil Nas X, Jenna Fischer, and Jeff Garlin – yes, really! The Paradox have already worked with legendary producers like Zack Odom & Kenneth Mount, John Feldmann, and Travis Barker – and they've got mentorship from pop punk royalty like Joel Madden and Simple Plan. This one's packed with stories, laughs and a look behind the scenes at one of the fastest-rising bands in the scene.
On this week's episode of Artist Friendly, Joel Madden is bringing you an encore episode of his conversation with Pierre Bouvier of Simple Plan. Simple Plan grew from pop-punk underdogs to genre heroes over the course of six studio albums. In addition to racking up collabs with members of blink-182, Sum 41, and Weezer, the Canadian vets have played on over a dozen Warped Tours and created pop-punk essentials through early tracks like “Welcome to My Life” and “I'm Just a Kid.” The latter experienced a viral moment through TikTok at the beginning of the decade, challenging people to recreate childhood photos as adults and post the results, which featured participation from Will Smith, Ed Sheeran, and beyond. Given that their friendship stretches back to the 2000s, the duo get into it all across a nearly hour-long episode. Listen to their conversation on Artist Friendly wherever you listen to podcasts. Matt Hoopes is back on the show! Blake and Matt catch up on all things Relient K—from packed DIY shows at Brown's Diner to opening for Avril Lavigne and Simple Plan. They dive into what it means to be a touring musician as a grown-up, the joys of building a “new boat” for the band, and why some of the most meaningful shows don't happen on giant festival stages. They also nerd out on pedal design, with Matt revealing the evolution behind 1981 Inventions' DRV and LVL circuits (spoiler: the new stuff is weird in the best way), plus boost pedal obsessions, collabs with Big Ear and EAE, and that legendary Tele Deluxe of his. If you're a fan of Relient K, boutique pedals, or Nashville pizza (yes, that too), this one's for you.
