We unexpectedly had to take off from providing you with a full episode this week, so instead we're sharing this installment of After Dark! We discuss the popularity around the Stanley Quencher water bottle -- that thing is so big and ugly, yet people can't help but buy it. We use it's popularity to discuss brand loyalty, and the brands that we are hot and heavy for. Reminder: Stay hydrated! But maybe use a less ugly water bottle. Patrons and Apple Podcast subscribers have access to a new After Dark installment this week where Andrew and Pam answer questions from listeners about podcast drama. The Jons are back with the brilliant Jason Mantzoukas, who made the ingenious suggestion that we pick him up for the podcast AFTER DARK! That's right cool cats, this Two Jons takes place during the SEXY NIGHTTIME. LA at night is like jazz. The traffic has it's own rhythm, flowing like a trumpet line against the thrumming bass buzz of humans in clubs and bars, making out, wearing sexy outfits, day trading and farting. Jason and The Jons bebop up to the Sunset Strip, the piano heats up into a blistering solo, many neon signs are visible, cutting lines in Tall Jon's vision as he plays the FARTVAN like a sax, moving in and out of traffic like Coltrane at Newport '67, reinventing sound with his eyes closed, the Jons make a rhythmic left at Doheny and end up highhattin' it to Larchmont of all places. But that's where jazz can take you... All places. This episode is pure night, and you can feel it. Hard and soft like the wind. Like when you pass the La Brea Tar Pits and get a whiff of the tar. Or is it just the asphault the Jons are turning left on, still hot from the day? The podcast isn't over till we turn right. Right Jon? Cymbals crash....

After Dark with Hosts Rob & Andrew – New video evidence proves that the made-for-TV theatrical production of the Jan 6th Committee Hearings was a big lie. After Dark with Hosts Rob & Andrew – To say the least, it was a sight to behold. A biological woman, Jill, bestows an award upon a man while other biological women seemingly watch in awe. You can't make this up. Now just imagine all of the women who made contributions to society as women. This is shameful, ridiculous, and insulting!

After Dark with Hosts Rob & Andrew – This couldn't be any more evident and present than in today's society, where individuals are placed in jobs because of their race, ethnicity, or gender. Welcome to #Millennial, the home of pretend adulting and real talk! In some airline news, the Justice Department is suing to stop the planned Jet Blue/Spirit Airlines merger, and multiple airlines are ditching fees charged for families trying to sit together. Seemingly inspired by Elon Musk's moves at Twitter, Meta will soon be offering "Meta Verified:" aka paying $15 a month for the coveted Blue Check. Why is the Blue Check so desirable for some? Are there any cases where wanting one is warranted? If everyone can pay a monthly fee to be verified, does being verified lose its meaning? It's time for some unpopular opinions: we're inspired by a (now deleted) tweet, which asserts that most nonfiction books are unreadable. We have some hot takes of our own: your phone should be silent most of the time, being an "empath" isn't a thing, and airlines should get rid of the reclining functionality on all economy seats. In light (lol) of Daylight Savings Time returning in a few short days, Laura delivers her yearly gripe about how stupid changing the clocks 2x a year is. Will attempts at a permanent DST bill die in the House again this year? Probably. Though some of us would love a little more sunlight in the evenings, experts warn that a permanent switch to Standard time would likely be better for our health. This week's recommendations are mostly practical, with a little entertainment sprinkled in: Digital temperature readers (Andrew), 'Bass Reeves: No Master But Duty' (Laura), and AHC Natural Perfection Sunscreen Stick (Pam). And in this week's installment of After Dark, available on Patreon: What tragic event were we all obsessed with as kids? Titanic is the obvious answer for many millennials, but we have a treasure trove of morbid interests. The history, politics, and horrific assassination of the Romanov family, and subsequent mystery of Anastasia. How an interest in the Oregon Trail led Pam to an obsession with the Donner Party. Andrew has always been obsessed with water: the Johnstown Flood of 1889.

After Dark with Hosts Rob & Andrew – It really shouldn't be surprising that the media is name-dropping Michelle as a viable presidential candidate. After Dark with Hosts Rob & Andrew – The City that used to be one of the safest and biggest cities in the world is now reverting to the days of the early 60s and 70s. It is becoming a danger zone. This is partly thanks to the previous mayor Bill de Blasio, who came into office and destroyed all of the infrastructure his predecessors...

At one point, children who weren't vaccinated weren't allowed to participate in certain after-school extra-curricular activities. Some children were even denied entry into schools...
Welcome to #Millennial, the home of pretend adulting and real talk! We are joined this week by Christine Riccio and Natasha Polis from Those Forking Fangirls to discuss the significant uptick in interest (and sales) of literary romance and YA novels. Today's conversation was inspired by this NPR article:From meet-cutes to happy endings, romance readers feel the love as sales heat up. Christine and Natasha help us dig in on the pipeline from Young Adult to Romance, how the genres somewhat overlap, and how the culture has shifted to make open enjoyment of the Romance genre more socially accepted. Might some of the shifts in cover art portrayals have made the genre more comfortable and accessible to readers? Are there any cases where the cute, cartoony covers fail to communicate the spicy, smutty passages between the covers? Fan Fiction seems to have played a major role in these developments, with more people participating in online fan spaces to create new content. There are even recent examples of very successful fan fic authors going on to become published, like Christina Lauren, EL James, Alice Clayton, and Ali Hazelwood. Is there any direct correlation between the rise in interest for romance novels as a genre and the uptick in romance-based reality TV shows? What sort of escapism do they provide? What recommendations do Christine and Natasha have for current romance readers, or those hoping to get started? "From Blood and Ash" by Jennifer L Aremntrout, "Spoiler Alert" by Olivia Dade, "A Court of Silver Flames" by Sarah J Maas, "Part of Your World" by Abby Jimenez, "Verity" by Colleen Hoover, "Anna & the French Kiss" by Stephanie Perkins, "The Soulmate Equation" by Christina Lauren, "The Hating Game" by Sally Thorne, "A Court of Thorns and Roses" by Sarah J. Maas. And of COURSE - "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer. This week's recommendations are all over the map: Andrew's shameless plug to use his Visible by Verizon referral code to get $20 off your first month, "Sons of the Forest" (Laura), 'Daisy Jones & The Six' on Prime Video (Pam), "Ninth House" (Christine), and "Sanditon" on Masterpiece airing 3/19/23 (Natasha). And in this week's installment of After Dark, available on Patreon: Last week we revealed all the bad things we did as kids and teens, but this week we're revealing the much more scandalous escapades our parents thought we were into. Weed orgies, illicit drug use on a church playground, underage sex, and all sorts of really interesting things none of us were actually cool enough to be doing.

After Dark with Hosts Rob & Andrew – In addition to being married to public figures, they both seek their power, attention, and influence by any means necessary. These two women have forced their sick, inept, unfit husbands to run for office despite their obvious limitations. To that end, they are using their inept husbands as conduits to fulfill...
In this monthly After Dark episode, Emily Jashinsky and Inez discuss whether we’ve reached “peak woke,” and whether pragmatic alliances with centrists and TERFs on the consensus of the 90s and Aughts are ultimately hollow. They also dissect a Ross Douthat column pointing to the iPhone revolution as proximate — but not ultimate — cause […]

News We were starting to get worried that the popular Star Wars Nite would not happen this year since Disney hadn't announced anything and May 4th is coming up quick! Well, last week they finally announced TWO Disneyland After Dark Nies coming to Disneyland. Disneyland After Dark: Throwback Nite will celebrate the 50's and 60's, with music and entertainment that will pay tribute to Disneyland's first 10 years. "Fantasy in the Sky" fireworks will be performed, classic dancing, treats from the early days of Disneyland, and more! For Star Wars Nite, "Star Wars: Celebrate the Nite" fireworks will perform, the March of the First Order returns, a Lightsaber instructional demonstration and more will be happening. Magic Key Holder tickets went on sale Tuesday, February 21, with general public tickets on Thursday, February 23. Check the link in the show notes for all the dates and times. - https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/02/disneyland-after-dark-brings-2-more-themed-nites-to-disneyland-resort-this-spring/ Just under a month after Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway opened, we are already getting a standby queue! Starting today when this podcast posts, there will no longer be a virtual queue for the attraction. Individual Lightning Lane is still available for an extra fee, but guests can now walk back to the attraction without having to hit the right button in the app at just the right time. This also allows guests the chance to ride the attraction multiple times in a single day. - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/02/breaking-standby-queue-available-for-mickey-minnies-runaway-railway-at-disneyland-starting-this-week/ - https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2023/02/21/change-revealed-for-disneylands-newest-ride/ It has been a long time since the Haunted Mansion has been welcoming guests in its original form with the extension of Haunted Mansion Holiday this year. Wait no longer, the Mansion is back! There was even an upgrade to the show that was installed over the transition and has mysteriously disappeared since. A new birdcage with a bat inside was placed next to the chair at the endless hallway. This appeared in concept art by Marc Davis, but was never installed in the Mansion. - https://www.micechat.com/348153-disneyland-update-dropped-off-burned-out-forgotten/ - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/02/video-marc-davis-bat-in-a-birdcage-gag-removed-days-after-being-added-to-the-haunted-mansion-at-disneyland/ The long awaited return to the poor parade that was never given a chance by the pandemic comes back this week! Magic Happens premiered at the end of February, 2020, and closed with the park. As of Friday, the parade will perform at 3:30pm and 6:30pm daily. - https://www.micechat.com/348153-disneyland-update-dropped-off-burned-out-forgotten/ Weeklyteers who have seen the latest Ant Man and the Wasp movie will be excited to meet one of the characters from that movie in Avengers Campus. Kang the Conqueror will be visiting for a short time, so get to Avengers Campus soon if you want to catch him! - https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2023/02/17/another-new-character-is-coming-to-one-disney-park-soon/ Since the D23 Expo in September, there hasn't been a lot of details about San Fransokyo coming to Disney California Adventure. Construction has been progressing slowly on the new bridge, reminiscent of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Fransico, but not much else. There will be a meet and greet area with Baymax, a floating wind turbine to power the area (fictionally, of course) and will be open to guests this summer! - https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/02/step-into-san-fransokyo-square-at-disney-california-adventure-park-beginning-summer-2023/ The Mint Julep Bar, along with the French Market is closed to be transformed into Tiana's Palace, so where can you get the tasty beignets and Mint Juleps? Over near the Pirates entrance is the Royal Street Veranda where the iconic New Orleans Square treats are for sale. Once Tiana's Palace reopens, the items will return to the old locations. - https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2023/02/17/a-disney-restaurant-closed-heres-where-to-get-mickey-beignets-now/ A new sipper has arrived in Avengers Campus at Pym Test Kitchen. The Ooze Cauldron Sipper is inspired by the new Ant Man and the Wasp movie. The sipper appears to be able to be held by the handle on the top, or carried with the strap over your shoulder. Guests can pick one up for $27.97 and it comes filled with Quantum Ooze. - https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2023/02/17/disneys-new-souvenir-cup-comes-with-a-shocking-price-tag/ Registration is now closed for the runDisney events for Disneyland that is returning next year. All of the races have sold out. Tickets went on sale Valentine's Day and sold out almost immediately. Hopefully the strong demand will bring more runDisney races to Disneyland in the future. - https://www.micechat.com/348153-disneyland-update-dropped-off-burned-out-forgotten/ Discussion Topic Alex from The Backside of Water podcast https://www.instagram.com/the_backside_of_water/?hl=en https://www.facebook.com/groups/1650193781692775/ https://open.spotify.com/show/1l3yS2OvqY1dwWVIyBWeJS?si=04mzqHRPTain07_MyNwJPQ&nd=1 https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-backside-of-water-a-disneyland-history-podcast/id1003822031
After Dark with Hosts Rob & Andrew – Some town residents have been sharing horror stories with the few media outlets that will listen about the impact the train derailment and chemical spill have had on their daily lives. The Biden Administration has generously given millions of our taxpayer dollars to Ukraine and illegals, but they are slow to respond to...

Welcome to #Millennial, the home of pretend adulting and real talk! After a few years of explosive growth, the podcast world seems to be cooling off. What does this mean for indie podcasters? As big corporations come to grips with the reality that podcasting isn't just an easy way to print money, layoffs, budget cuts, and canceled projects are making headlines. What do we look for in the podcasts we listen to as podcasters ourselves? If there's passion behind the project, it shows. Lucky Girl Syndrome is the new manifesting. Who knew when boomers were simping over 'The Secret' that the youths would revive the concept. Is there some validity to the idea of manifesting positivity? How has Andrew done this to keep himself from assuming the worst possible thing will happen? The Confessional makes its triumphant return this week with a listener who is playing hooky from work to get some much-needed self-care time. The hosts and listeners share some great tips for helping to carve out some time to prioritize yourself during your regular day-to-day: give yourself an easy "out" for certain social situations, stop saying yes to everything, and pad time in your calendar around busy events to give yourself some breathing room! Don't forget to check out our Facebook group for more great conversations like this. This week's recommendations will make life easier, more fun, and enriching! The Plates by Splitwise app, and the parent Splitwise app (Listener Beth and Andrew), Golf With Friends (Laura), and "Sorrow and Bliss" by Meg Mason (Pam). How all three of the hosts got booted off their parents' car insurance - should people be worried about us on the road? Andrew recalls his "Most Expensive Date Ever" We also revisit some cringe moments from our adolescent years. Awkward!
