POPULARITY
In this episode…I'm back with heralded business leader, best selling author, renowned speaker and top podcast host, Patrick Lencioni, who I find to be masterfully insightful regarding human behavior and performance, which is what he's famous for and why he's one of the most influential people in the business world today. This is my values, motives, and habits episode and you're about to hear Patrick's insight into his own behavior and performance and what drives him. A key perspective we land on is how as he strives for success in his life, he continues to work on being, as he says, “peacefully detached from the outcome.” He shares a story and we dig into this very attractive, yet seemingly impossible endeavor. Also in the discussion he shares his desire to conduct himself like the very earliest followers of Jesus. How he went awry in his closest relationships thinking his job was to fix and serve at the sake of his own well being. In sharing about his health and wellness routine he divulges his early participation in running sports was due to childhood wounds he was trying to address, as he was terrified that if he was simply mediocre, he'd go unnoticed by his family. He talks through this further and how it caused him to initially lead his life in a defensive posture, and how he worked out of this perspective. In discussing work values Patrick shares that in his experience the most successful businesses, organizations, and families are quite messy. You can hear him explain this further. We then get more into this concept of being detached from the big outcomes of our life. And we end with Patrick admitting he is trying to discover and engage with things that just give him personal pleasure as he continues to work out of the obligatory feeling of his life being all about service to others and forgetting about himself. If you missed part one of our discussion together where we talked about his new book and assessment, The 6 Types Of Working Genius, find the book anywhere and take the assessment right away at workinggenius.comThe Self-Help(ful) podcast is brought to you by Ziglar, your premier source for equipping coaches to help leaders and top performers excel professionally and personally. This week we look at final myth of the seven deadly myths that stop us having more resilience, peace, control, flow and happiness in life and on our fertility journey. These myths that mean we are more likely to feel anxious, scared and angry, all the things that can actually be impacting our fertility and chances of getting pregnant. This weeks myth is that you have to strive to get what you want in life. Surely things can't be easy? Surely if it was easy it would have happened by now? I want you to know it is possible to create what you want in your life without the striving and how often it's the striving that prevents us from being successful. Get in touch: www.thefertilemind.net russell@thefertilemind.net About the Show: I help women and couples remove psychological blocks to getting pregnant. Based on my and my wife's 10 year fertility journey and the work of my clients I believe too many couples have IVF unnecessarily and that the success rate of IVF is unnecessarily low. We can see how much our mind and emotions played a part in our fertility journey and when we found a place of peace without giving up that's when the magic happened - we conceived naturally against all odds. I help me clients do the same - remove psychological blocks to getting pregnant naturally or getting the successful IVF outcome they so want. When I ask women what having a baby will give them they usually say a sense of completeness, love and purpose. It's our fear of not having these things, a fear of not being enough, worthy that tends to be behind our fear of not having a baby. These limiting beliefs have usually been around since an early age and infertility shines a spotlight on them. Many of my clients have strived for success in their life whether career or other things. That approach doesn't work for fertility. In fact it puts tension in the body which decreases their chances of success. The podcast is short does of insight, giving women and couples new perspectives that allows them to see their fertility from the ‘inside-out'. To see help them let go of their insecure thoughts and feelings and connect to their innate wellbeing that knows they are enough and OK whatever happens. This moves having a baby from being a 'need' to to a desire. It takes the pressure of the process and their mind and body relax into it's natural flow state. Stress can impact the delicate balance of hormones required for a successful pregnancy.
Ask Me How I Know: Multifamily Investor Stories of Struggle to Success
Are you afraid to sample the extraordinary because you believe reality will smack you in the face?Often we get a rush from attending seminars or being in a powerful meetup group. We feel we can conquer the world but when we walk through the door to the reality of our lives we find ourselves discouraged. We lose the belief that we CAN achieve the extraordinary. Sometimes we determine that we won't allow ourselves to get that high because the free fall back to reality is too much to bear. Today, I challenge this sentiment with the simple question: Can you achieve your dreams if you never dare dream?Costco "marketing gods" and their use of samples are a springboard to this conversation: Sample something great and you'll be so sold out nothing will stop you. Swimming also supports today's concept by pointing out we MUST exhale the stale toxic air from our lungs in order to inhale pure fresh air. So much more! Episode 228 | Dr. Michael Horton and Adriel Sanchez answer caller questions. Show Notes CoreChristianity.com Key questions answered in today's show: 1. Mark, you've had an amazing career, spending decades in the corporate world, and spending the last six years leading a faith-based organization. You've lived all over the world. What was it like to work overseas? 2. What are the unique challenges Christians in business face and what advice do you have for them? What are some challenges you've dealt with? 3. Mark, sometimes when I talk people as their pastor, they assume if they really want to serve God they have to be a pastor or a missionary. What encouragement would you have for Christians in the business world who may struggle with whether their work is meaningful before God? 4. I recently received a promotion at work, I'm glad for the raise but sometimes I feel guilty trying to move up or being ambitious as a Christian. Is okay for Christians to strive to be successful in their work?
