In this emotional and raw Part 2 interview, former Miss USA, model, actress, and reality TV star Shanna Moakler continues her revealing sit-down with us, live from Dallas. And trust us, the tea—and coffee—is piping hot. Shanna dives headfirst into the heartbreaking details of how her marriage to Travis Barker unraveled. In a bombshell moment, she recounts how she found out her relationship was over—via text message—just two weeks before their hit reality show Meet the Barkers aired. But that wasn't the only shock. She says she learned of Travis's new romance with Kourtney Kardashian the same way the world did: through the tabloids. “I was blindsided. It was humiliating,” she says. Despite the chaos, Shanna reveals she tried to keep her family intact—for her kids. But what followed was even more painful. Shanna opens up about the emotional devastation of being alienated from her children, sharing that at her lowest point, it felt like they were gone. “I used to say my kids died—because that's how deeply I mourned the loss of that relationship,” she confesses. Her honesty cuts deep and we pause in stunned silence. In a shift from sorrow to spiritual, Pol' brews a traditional Armenian coffee and performs an old-school Armenian coffee reading, channeling family tradition and mystical insight. As Shanna peers into the cup, Pol' reads symbols of heartbreak, betrayal, resilience—and rebirth. “There's a phoenix in here, babe,” he tells her, pointing to the grounds. The reading brings laughter, catharsis, and even a tear or two as they explore Shanna's path toward healing and self-reinvention. Throughout the episode we gently—but firmly—guide Shanna through tough territory, including navigating a tabloid war with the Kardashians, public judgment, and the identity crisis that came from living in the shadow of two reality TV juggernauts. Despite the trauma, Shanna's strength shines. She reflects on her time in the Playboy Mansion, her journey back to self-worth, and how she's finally reclaiming her narrative. “I've forgiven myself more than I've had to forgive him,” she declares, signaling a powerful emotional shift.

Send us a textWhat happens when life's carefully constructed plans crumble? For Alex Smith, the journey from small-town athlete to Miss Oklahoma to entertainment industry executive has been anything but predictable. In this raw and revealing conversation, Alex shares how she transformed unexpected setbacks into powerful comebacks through the cultivation of faith.Growing up in a community with just 32 students in her graduating class, Alex had mapped out a future in sports until an injury forced her to reconsider everything. Reluctantly entering the pageant world, she ultimately claimed the Miss Oklahoma crown on her third attempt, launching her into a year of high-profile appearances and opportunities. But when the pageant spotlight dimmed and she didn't place at Miss USA, Alex found herself adrift, wondering what came next. The turning point arrived through a chance encounter with speaker Tim Story, who offered advice that would become her north star: "You can either sit in the setback, settle in the setback, and cement in the setback, or you can pick yourself up and make your setback into a comeback." This mindset shift propelled Alex forward, eventually leading to her current role as Vice President of Speaker Relations for the Aspire Tour, the world's largest business conference.Alex doesn't shy away from discussing her darkest moments, including the death of a former boyfriend in a car accident that tested her faith to its limits. Through prayer, journaling, meditation, and sound healing, she's developed daily practices that strengthen her spiritual foundations. Perhaps most compelling is her story of crisis management at her first major event, when a headline speaker canceled at 4 AM, forcing her to mobilize every contact in her network until securing NFL legend Emmitt Smith as a last-minute replacement. For anyone navigating uncertainty or rebuilding after disappointment, Alex's journey offers a powerful reminder that faith doesn't eliminate fear—it simply needs to be slightly larger than our fears in the moments that matter most.Support the show#thetruthaboutaddiction#sobriety#the12steps#recovery#therapy#mentalhealth#podcasts#emotionalsobriety#soberliving#sobermindset#spirituality#spiritualgrowth#aa#soberlife#mindfulness#wellness#wellnessjourney#personalgrowth#personaldevelopment#sobermovement#recoveroutloud#sobercurious#sobermoms#soberwomen#author#soberauthor#purpose#passion#perspective

If you're looking for an inspiring new children's book that teaches important lessons about resilience, kindness, and courage, you'll want to check out "Brave Buzzy Bee." In this episode of Reading with Your Kids, host Jed Doherty chats with the delightful co-authors, Rima Fakih and Theresa Alhayek, about how this charming picture book came to be. Rima and Theresa's collaboration started when Theresa's previous book, "Dream Big Little Princess," caught Rima's eye. Rima, a busy mom, former Miss USA and UN influencer, was inspired to write her own children's book, and she reached out to Theresa. The two hit it off immediately, bonding over their shared experiences of raising large families and even having preemie babies on the same day! As Rima and Theresa describe their writing process, it's clear they have a wonderful, supportive partnership. They worked together remotely, going back and forth on every word to craft the perfect rhyming story about the brave little buzzy bee. And when an editor suggested flipping the ending, the co-authors embraced the challenge, ultimately creating an even stronger, more empowering tale. Throughout the conversation, Rima and Theresa's passion for the project shines through. They're excited to see how kids and parents react to "Brave Buzzy Bee" and are already dreaming up ideas for future collaborations - perhaps even a book for moms and dads! We also welcomed back author George Neeb to celebrate his new children's book Hot Cocoa and Courage. This delightful story was inspired by George's experience of building a cabin in the wilds of Ontario with his sons, If you're looking to inspire courage, kindness, and a love of reading in the young readers in your life, be sure to check out "Brave Buzzy Bee." The Miss America pageant has always had its critics, but the stories of the organization and those who participated in it are far more dynamic than most people recognize. In this episode, Bob & Ben speak with Amy Argetsinger whose new book There She Was: The Secret History of Miss America explains Miss America's origins, how the pageant both shaped and was shaped by American society, and why it might be okay that the pageant's significance in American culture has faded. Bonus: Bob calls Miss USA “the confederacy of beauty pageants.” Listen to find out why that makes sense! Amy Argetsinger is an editor for The Washington Post's acclaimed Style section, where she has overseen coverage of media, popular culture, politics and society.
