On this edition of Political Breakfast, we discuss the specter of the No Kings Protest in Atlanta. Thousands turned out and actually PEACEFULLY protested Trump-era politics. Many high-profile speakers addressed enthusiastic crowds. One in particular was two-time Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams. She's been quiet lately. Does her taking the podium signal she's ready to take on the political spotlight again? Executive Director of the Atlanta Civic Circle Saba Long, who is in for Democratic Strategist Tharon Johnson and Republican Strategist Brian Robinson, shared their thoughts with host Lisa Rayam See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this episode of the Biblical Anarchy Podcast, host Jacob Winograd welcomes a special guest, Casser, for a bonus episode that delves deep into the Israel-Palestine conflict from a libertarian perspective. They discuss the historical context of Zionism, the influence of various libertarian thinkers, and the implications of applying libertarian principles to the current geopolitical landscape. The conversation tackles both theological and political dimensions, examining the biases present within both the Christian and libertarian communities regarding Israel. They also debate the justifications for Israel's recent actions against Iran, contemplating the ethics of preemptive strikes and the legitimacy of state actions in warfare. The episode explores different narratives and seeks to find a consistent application of libertarian ethics in analyzing these complex issues.Full Episode Notes at biblicalanarchypodcast.com
"Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit." Luke 23:46 This final utterance from the cross is not one of defeat--but of divine serenity. Having borne the wrath of God and completed the work of our redemption, the Lord Jesus now breathes out a word of rest and trust: "Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit." This is not resignation--it is resolution. Not despair--but deep satisfaction in the will of God. Notice the address: "Father." Though moments earlier He had cried, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?"--now the darkness lifts, and communion is restored. The cry of abandonment, has given way to the voice of fellowship. Christ dies not in fear, but in faith. Not under wrath, but in the embrace of love. The Lord Jesus did not cling to His life; in love for His people, He sacrificed it. Voluntarily. Confidently. Peacefully. He had said earlier, "No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord" (John 10:18). And now, He lays it down in perfect contentment. He entrusts His spirit to the Father--not into the void, not into oblivion--but into sovereign, loving hands. Here is the death of the believer's Substitute--and the model for every believer's own death. Christ has taken the sting out of death. The grave has lost its victory. For the Christian, death is no longer a leap into darkness, but a Home-going to the Father. The moment the spirit leaves the body, it enters the presence of God. Believer, are you anxious? Do you fear what lies ahead? Learn from your Savior. Live in such communion with God, that you may die as He did--trusting, resting, content. Say daily with faith, "Father, into Your hands I commit my spirit." Not only at death, but in
Heartache isn't something you fix; it's something you feel and slowly release. Let's begin that journey together. Many of us try to outrun heartbreak, attempting to rationalize or resolve it through our minds. However, true healing rarely occurs this way. Heartache doesn't need to be solved; it needs to be acknowledged and held with patience, softness, and, most importantly, love. Tonight, in the stillness of this gentle journey, you are not asked to be strong or composed. You are only asked to be present. To rest. To breathe. To feel.As you do, something begins to shift. The grief starts to loosen. Together, we will soften the ache and create a space where healing can commence—not through force, but through gentle release. This is your time. This is your sanctuary.
URSULA'S TOP STORIES: America showed up to protest, peacefully // Political assassinations in Minnesota // What do you need to tell each person in your family?
Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. And today's shout-out goes to William Hanson from Bagley, MN. William, thank you for your support of Project23. I pray this study will give you peace in your storm today. Our text today is Mark 4:35-41: On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” — Mark 4:35-41 It started as a simple boat ride across the lake. But halfway through, everything changed. A sudden storm. Water crashing in. Panic is setting in. And where's Jesus? Peacefully asleep—on a cushion. That image alone speaks volumes: Jesus, undisturbed, while chaos rages. The disciples, frantic, ask the question many of us whisper when life gets hard: “Do you not care?” But Jesus does more than care—he commands. He stands up, rebukes the wind, and speaks peace over the storm: “Peace! Be still!” And just like that, the elements of life obey. The storm stops. Here's the kicker: the storm outside wasn't the biggest one. The real storm was inside them—fear, doubt, forgetfulness. And Jesus quiets that, too, with a question that echoes into our own lives: “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” The storms of life are inevitable. But panic is optional when Jesus is in your boat. Because the One who commands the sea also calms the soul. And the more we walk with him, the more we learn: Jesus may not always stop the storm before it hits—but he always brings peace in the middle of it. Lay the storm in your soul on the cushion of Jesus. You know you can't control your present storm. But he can. #FaithInTheStorm, #PeaceBeStill, #Mark43541 ASK THIS: What fears rise in you when life feels out of control? How have you seen Jesus bring peace in past storms? Why do you think Jesus asked, “Have you still no faith?” What does it mean for you to rest like Jesus—even in chaos? DO THIS: Speak the words “Peace, be still” over one area of your life today—and trust Jesus to meet you in it. PRAY THIS: Jesus, when fear fills my heart, remind me that you are present and powerful in every storm. Help me trust your peace more than I fear the waves. Amen. PLAY THIS: Still.

Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise reacts to the day in Pittsburgh sports news live around 5 p.m. Eastern. Could Steelers GM Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin get QBs Aaron Rodgers and Shedeur Sanders to peacefully coexist if both were added this offseason via NFL free agency and the NFL draft, respectively? How long would Rodgers be able to hold Sanders off in such a scenario? Should we interpret Sanders' scheduled visit Thursday as genuine interest in him from the front office? And how much longer will we need to wait for a decision from Rodgers, after Pat McAfee signaled no news is forthcoming from his Pittsburgh event Wednesday night? Paul tackles those questions then reacts to the Pirates' series against the St. Louis Cardinals. Should we worry about Paul Skenes after his rough start Tuesday night? How much scrutiny does president Travis Williams deserve after PR gaffes related to the Roberto Clemente tribute in right field and the commemorative bricks at PNC Park that the club is in the process of replacing? And what does this first homestand's attendance signal about support for GM Ben Cherington and manager Derek Shelton?

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!This week Pip is joined by JOE TALBOT of IDLES for an encore episode! An in person episode for this follow up appearance, as the first time round was a Zoom-er in the heat of the lockdown times. So much has changed, for the band, for Joe himself, and the world on the whole. The last 5 years or so has been a cyclone of all sorts, and living through it while keeping a cool and level head is an insurmountable goal. Thankfully creation and art and music are not in short supply, no matter what some of the highers might want us to think, and Joe is proof of that. A wide ranging chat but with an anchor of sorts, which addresses many heavy hitting subjects including class, poverty, politics, socials, reading, mental health, touring, being in a band in general and of course, tinned fish. The amount of times I find myself typing that, good god. Enjoy, it's a goody...PIP'S PATREON PAGE if you're of a supporting natureDANCERGIFT HORSEJOE INSTAGRAMIDLES INSTAGRAMIDLES LINKSSPEECH DEVELOPMENT WEBSTOREPIP TWITCH • (music stuff)PIP INSTAGRAMPIP TWITTERPIP PATREONPIP IMDBPOD BIBLE Hosted on Acast. Trump is suppressing speech, and he's using immigration enforcement to suppress speech. He's cracking down on international students who are here on student visas and who are protesting in support of Palestinians. He's trying to arrest and deport them. I'm hugely pro-Israel, but that's not right. And we should be bigger and better than that. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
The entire time we were at the hospice center had a distinct air of unreality. The fact that we had reached the point where we were re-living the anniversaries of the events which had brought us to this place just added to that sense of illusion. Surely this wasn't happening to our family. Surely this was all some kind of crazy dream. Surely Hannah was going to be fine. But no ... there we were, in a hospice center with our 17-year-old daughter whose grasp on this life was becoming more tenuous. Thank you for joining me for another bonus episode of the While We're Waiting podcast in this year-long series in which I share our family's experiences as our teenage daughter Hannah battled glioblastoma brain cancer from February 2008 through February 2009. My desire is to process through the events of those twelve months with the perspective that 16 years has brought … and point listeners to hope in Jesus along the way.I would love to hear your thoughts on the show.
