The Trump regime built much of its identity–and certainly campaigned around–its hatred of LGBTQ Americans. Unfortunately, the success of that campaign again revealed just how much anti-queer bias there is in the American populace. And while there may be no populated nation in the world that is truly free of anti-queer bias, there are places that are better, are different, or that offer new perspectives. Alden Jones' work explores queer travel. Alden is an assistant professor at Emerson College and the author of the memoirs The Blind Masseuse and The Wanting Was a Wilderness and the story collection Unaccompanied Minors. Best American Travel Writing and other venues. She edited the new anthology of queer travel writing “Edge of the World” and he is here to discuss that work and the queer travel experience.

On the radio show this week, we dive into Donald Trump's latest round of harmful, destructive executive orders and outlandish ideas, like medals for motherhood and classes about menstrual cycles to increase the birth rate — instead of policies that moms, families, businesses, and our economy really need to thrive! We also discuss the rise in discriminatory policies affecting LGBTQ youth and the misrepresentation of civil rights law. Next, we hear about how parents and teachers living abroad on military bases are handling this onslaught of attacks on public education. In the United States, immigrants do not have the right to legal representation in the same way American citizens do. But it’s a different story for children who come to this country alone, thanks to the federally funded Unaccompanied Children Program. It provides legal representation to more than 26,000 children by contracting with non-profit legal aid organizations throughout the country. On March 21, the Trump Administration sent out a stop-work notice that some organizations are calling a near-termination of the program. The move means children as young as toddlers may be expected to represent themselves in very complicated immigration hearings. In response, a number of organizations that assist kids in the immigration system sued the Trump Administration. Thousands of unaccompanied minors have been placed with sponsors across the Pacific Northwest over the past decade, and the ending of contracts supporting them will have very real impacts on people and courts in our region. Grand Nagus: We are in the middle of the New Year's Event, called ‘Heavensturn'   I promptly used the tabletop dish in my new OCE house, this is how it looks on the table among others:   I used the mugs from the Christmas event, as you can see, since i don't have the reagents and materials on this character, yet, to craft coffee or tea cups, so i bought a few more Christmas mugs so i can use them.   As part of the event you can raffle for a fortune, good fortune or bad fortune, so i'm really happy with that. It's just a cosmetic thing that doesn't have any ingame power, just for fun. I won the lottery on my Oceanic homeworld for a beach front house. It was a really nice new year's present. Turns out you cannot buy the coins on steam, and you can only buy them on the Meta version. I met a character was only level two so I immediately stop playing Steam and work to level up my Meta character. But there is the daily challenge in which you can earn blue coins, 101 challenge and between five and 50 when you spin a wheel. The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 3: 5:05pm- Trump's Vice President Pick: According to Michael C. Bender of The New York Times, presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump had hoped to announce his running mate at the Republican National Convention. However, “convention rules require the party to nominate its presidential ticket on Monday, and it would be hard to nominate a ticket that's not yet officially announced. Republicans could vote on a rule change, but that would be just one of many changes that would ripple across the convention program.” Bender continues: “On Saturday, Mr. Trump will visit Butler County, Pa…The location would seem to be an ideal setting to introduce Mr. Vance, the former venture capitalist and best-selling author of “Hillbilly Elegy.” Another potential hint: One of the closest Ohio towns to Butler County is East Palestine, where Mr. Vance and Mr. Trump teamed up in February 2023 to criticize the Biden administration's response to a train derailment that forced residents to evacuate and escape toxic chemicals.” You can read the full article here: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/10/us/politics/trump-running-mate-finale.html 5:20pm- On Wednesday, The Daily Wire's Ben Shapiro testified before the House Judiciary Committee condemning government influence on social media platforms. 5:25pm- On a recent episode of his podcast, NBC's Chuck Todd conceded that two years ago a Biden Administration cabinet official told him that Joe Biden can't possibly run again due to health impairments. 5:30pm- In a video acquired by TMZ, George Stephanopoulos can be heard saying that he doesn't believe Joe Biden has the ability to serve as president for another four years. Many Unaccompanied Minors Sent to Traffickers, Not Family Members: HHS Whistleblower Tara Rodas Breaks Down Red Flags

“We're incentivizing the traffickers … The United States government is paying for the flights and the bus tickets to deliver these children to people who view children as assets,” says Health and Human Services (HHS) whistleblower Tara Rodas.A federal employee for two decades, including 17 years in the inspector general community, she was among a number of people who answered a call from the Biden administration to help with the crisis at the border and a surge in unaccompanied minors.“Everybody just believed we were reuniting children with families … I thought I would be able to help, you know—be that smiling, welcoming face to the children when they came. I just had no idea that the children didn't know who they were going to,” Rodas says.Large numbers of unaccompanied minors are being sent by HHS to sponsors that are not being properly vetted, Rodas says. In some cases, kids are being released to apartment buildings where dozens of other children have also been released. In other cases, there are sponsors using multiple addresses to sponsor children, she says. And in some cases, sponsors are submitting fake documentation—that no one is checking.

This year alone, more than 130 unaccompanied migrant children were sent to Noble County in southwestern Minnesota from the U.S. southern border. That number is on par with densely populated Minnesota counties like Hennepin and Ramsey. And it follows a steep upward trend of unaccompanied minors making their way to the states in search of freedom and opportunity. Erin Schutte Wadzinski is the only immigration lawyer in Southwestern Minnesota and has been extremely busy connecting minors with resources to legally belong in Minnesota. Erin owns Kivu Law, an immigration law firm that aims to serve Minnesota, South Dakota, and Iowa. She joined Cathy to talk about the unique challenges facing unaccompanied minors and how the Worthington community can help. Happy Sunday, Christmas Fanatics! As a special end of the weekend treat, please enjoy this Emergency Episode in which Julia, Thom, and Anthony gather to discuss two trailers dropped by Disney + this weekend - those for "Hocus Pocus 2", a sequel 29 years in the making, and "The Santa Clauses", the miniseries that will serve as the end of Tim Allen's tenure as Santa Claus!  The elves have been looking forward to both highly anticipated projects since they were announced and have been excited to get sneak peeks at these legacy sequels. How did they feel about them? Well, one trailer went through the greatest hits and played heavy on the nostalgia associated with the original, while still making them curious and thrilled over the direction of this new chapter, while the other trailer left them wanting and very nervous for the finished project. Which elicited which feelings? You'll just have to listen to find out! So, settle back with your Pumpkin Spice Lattes, enjoy this special bonus episode, and let us know what you think of both trailers on our social media pages! And make sure to check your feeds tomorrow morning for your regularly scheduled weekly episode in which the elves cover the 2006 film, "Unaccompanied Minors"!  As always, thanks for your love and support, y'all!
