Caleb Smith is a Team Rollerblade rider currently “ultraskating” the 470-mile journey from San Francisco to Los Angeles along California's infamous Highway 1. Krans met up with Caleb at a taqueria in Half Moon Bay at the end of his first day to talk about preparing for the trip, the little gear he brought with him, and the larger trip he's training to complete. For Life on Purpose Episode #52, my guest is author, yoga teacher, mental strength coach, former pro-skater, and entrepreneur Cara Bradley. Cara joined me for an inspirational conversation about her new book On the Verge: Wake Up, Show Up, and Shine and what it means to be "On the Verge": to show up in THIS exact moment and meet our potential to shine in all aspects of our lives. She empowers listeners to live from that place through practices and strategies designed to shift them out of their heads and fully into the present moment. “When you show up in this moment — when you are 100 percent engaged right here and right now — you arrive in a space where you are fully aware,” says Cara. “In this space, beyond your busy mind, you glimpse your naturally occurring state of being awake and fully alive. In this natural state your mind is clear, your body bright, and your heart open.” We also discuss the life-changing epiphany she had at her final college track race and how the question she asked then has shaped her life and work since. This week on Relationships 2.0 my guest is Cara Bradley author of On The Verge: Wake Up, Show Up and Shine About the book: In the final race of her college track career, Cara Bradley beat her personal best by a remarkable six seconds. Until then Bradley had been a so-so athlete hampered by pre-race jitters and self-doubt. But on this day Bradley was buoyed by a sense of calm confidence. She set about understanding how she could replicate this experience in every area of life. She has distilled what she found into four practices, four shift strategies, and a series of gut-check reminders for moving out of over-thinking and over-doing and into being fully awake and alive– clear, bright, confident. These techniques for settling busy mind, putting body and mind in sync, and cultivating awareness and strength are simple but require practice and attention, which Bradley coaches readers to apply daily. The reward is what she calls “high definition, high voltage living,” the ability to experience what Bradley did on the track not by accident, or in only a few memorable moments but on purpose, every day. About the author: Cara Bradley, a native New Yorker and former pro-skater for Team Rollerblade®, is a lifelong teacher, mental strength coach, and entrepreneur. She is passionate about feeling awake and alive and experiencing her life fully. As the founder of Verge Yoga, Cara has been in the trenches of personal transformation and mindfulness as a teacher to thousands including CEOs and professional athletes for over three decades.
