BIOS:  Ray Crist is a world-renowned visionary who offers his teachings from a deep well of knowledge of indigenous wisdom. He has been an apprentice and an initiate of the Q'ero Nations elders since 2006 and ever since has shared the ways of living with thousands of spiritual seekers. Ray has traveled the world and has spent the last three decades immersed in shamanism, various styles of yoga, Chinese medicine, and martial arts.  He has been offering workshops and trainings at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, NY Open Center, Yoga Journal, Blue Spirit, Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort, and other centers around the world. Ray's trainings focus on how to use shamanic tools and yoga as technologies that assist us to reach an optimal state of being to live a balanced, empowered, and extraordinary life. Ray was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2003 and was given 3 months to live. He left his home country of Greece and in 2005 had surgery at the National Institute of Health (NIH) where he gave up his right kidney.  After that, he ventured in search of indigenous healers. To his surprise, the shamans he met told him that they couldn't heal him ... but that they could train him to become a shaman and heal himself. Ray went on to become an apprentice of three shamans from lineages as old as the Inca civilization and the Amazon jungle shamans. Spending time with the shamans and  living with them, he received several initiations up to the top level of the Q'ero lineage. In the 12th year of his apprenticeship, Ray was initiated by his teacher, Don Sebastian Pauccar Flores as a Kuraq Akulleq. This title translates to “seer” or “visionary” and comes with a directive to share the Q'ero teachings with other nations as a planetary representative of the tribe's culture and medicine. This has become the mission of Ray's life, and he founded The Jaguar Path in 2007 as the home base for that work. Ray is honored to share these teachings that he holds so close to his heart. Ray bows to the unfathomable power of this work and the unlimited potential of each member of the ever-growing international Jaguar Path Tribe. Nina Crist has lived, breathed, studied, and taught the martial arts since the early age of 17, learning the essence of each these styles: Karate, Aikido, Jiu-Jitsu, Tai Chi, Chi Gung, Kung Fu, and others. She is a black belt with the title of Master and as a keeper of this ancient wisdom, she is honored to share the beautiful practices with all who are drawn to them. Her teaching is inspired by decades of traditional training and she makes these ancient practices accessible to all. It is Nina's life work to peel back the layers of dogma and fear that surround this ancient wisdom so that people from all walks and all stages of life can benefit. Nina grew up close to nature in Maine and was called from a young age to live a spiritual path in service of uplifting and developing others. She always knew that her life would focus on offering nourishment and support to those around her.  At 17 she began training extensively in the martial arts, drawn to a deeply traditional, non-competitive, nature-based delivery of these ancient teachings in which discussion of the virtues and becoming your best self, was held side by side with the physical forms. It's a practice of emotional and spiritual healing, allowing people to express, release, and find clarity in their lives. Her father's entrepreneurial spirit clashed with societal expectations of success, creating a complex family dynamic around money. Choosing a Heart-Centered Career: Toni reflects on how she rejected the conventional paths of using her professional degrees and instead pursued her passion for dance and expressive arts. She had to overcome societal pressures and personal doubts to embrace her unique calling. Breaking Generational Patterns: Toni's journey was about breaking free from the financial anxieties she inherited. She shares how working on her money mindset allowed her to achieve financial independence and thrive in her chosen career. Title: S2EP60, He Was Given 3 Months To Live - 20 Years Later He is Training Shamans with Ray Crist Ray Crist was a very successful fashion and advertising photographer, living in Greece. His work appeared on covers of Vogue and billboards across Europe. He was working 80 hours a week, at the top of his game, and living his dream. After 20 years of photography, Ray was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer and given 3 months to live. "When death knocks, change your address," was what he heard at the Oracle of Delphi in Greece. He left Greece, came to America, and consulted with more hospitals. Johns Hopkins and NIH told him to get his affairs in order. Then the miracles started. He had experimental surgery at NIH, and went to the Kripalu Center to heal. Still alive, he became an instructor there. Following his boyhood dream of becoming a shaman, Ray found his way to Mexico, Peru and Bolivia. Ray's journey is fascinating. He found “his” shaman and eventually was told to train shamans himself. He is still alive, obviously. He is the founder of the Jaguar Path School for Modern Shamanism and the Science of Healing. Ray is about to start a new training program which you can learn about on this interview and at jaguarpath.com. If Shamanism calls to you, or you would like to know how Ray escaped a fatal diagnosis, please watch this interview. It could save your life or the life of your loved ones. BIO: Ray Crist is a world-renowned visionary who offers his teachings from a deep well of knowledge of indigenous wisdom. His path led him through Mexico and Peru. To his surprise, the shamans he met told him that they couldn't heal him... but that they could train him to become a shaman and heal himself. The Living Process episode 27 with guest Jonathan Foust Energy Flow and The Pathless Path I'm very happy to welcome Jonathan Foust to this episode. Jonathan has a lifetime of spiritual practice to share. He has dedicated his life to yoga practices, Buddhist meditation, mindfulness practice as well as Focusing. In our conversation we touch on how Focusing fits with these various somatic practices and the spiritual understanding of energy flow in the body. Jonathan shares his own personal journey and questions such as what body are we working with and what does it mean to heal? We discuss Focusing as pointing to the pathless path and how close it is to the RAIN model as used by Jonathan and his wife, meditation teacher Tara Brach. We wondered whether therapy really offers much more than these other effective and compassionate approaches. Jonathan offers a weekly talk on his website and is working on guidance for being with physical pain. We end by talking a bit about how to respond to the uncertainties and suffering in contemporary societies.  Jonathan Foust, MA, CSA, is a guiding teacher with the Insight Meditation Community of Washington and a founder of the Meditation Teacher Training Institute in Washington. A senior teacher and former president of Kripalu Center, he leads retreats, trainings and classes around the United States and works individually with those interested in healing and spiritual awakening. He's trained in a wide range of healing modalities, including Focusing (Certified Trainer), Kripalu Yoga, Trager Work, Cranio-Sacral, Reiki and Polarity Therapies to name a few. He has a Master of Arts in Education and certifications in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Focusing and Dharma practices. He has spent decades in Ashram and spiritual communities and now offers body-centred inquiry on retreats and intensives. For many years he has lived near Washington DC with his wife psychologist and mediation teacher Tara Brach.  Episode 27, The Living Process with guest Jonathan Foust: https://youtu.be/Fz19hg-4oVc The Living Process - all episodes and podcast links: https://www.londonfocusing.com/the-living-process/ Greg's YouTube video channel: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLC0TgN6iVu3n9d9q2l43z1xBMYY3p9FQL The Living Process on the FOT Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLx3FqA70kQWuHCHmEiZnkn1VcrRIPbcvk For more information on Jonathan, his talks and retreats, see his website and YouTube videos available at: https://www.jonathanfoust.com #somaticexperience  #trauma  #Focusing  #Gendlin  #Bodytherapy  #Zen  #Experientialpractice  #bodymind   #thelivingprocess #buddhist  #psychotherapy #mindfulness #jonathanfoust

A new paradigm for embodied healing in a unique, experiential, therapeutic process in which expressive movement, guided imagery, ritual, music, and creative expression work together. In Embody, Toni Bergins, the founder and creator of JourneyDance, an internationally renowned dance movement program, shares with readers a powerful way to address trauma mindfully so people can confront it, heal, and grow to love themselves unconditionally, just as they are. Embody is a dynamic, conscious practice that can help people release what no longer serves them and shows them how to stop stuffing/numbing the pain and start feeling, stop over-thinking/limiting, and get moving! Embodiment is the new buzzword in personal transformation, but, most often, it is connected to static practices like breathwork and meditation. For Toni Bergins, embodiment is best achieved through active movement, and has created a practice where people literally get out of their heads and into their bodies! Her program is a trauma-informed one that offers a new promise: leading readers through deep, personal work but making it feel like play. In this book, she turns the heaviness of processing pain and past trauma into an expressive art aligned with the most recent research. Specifically, trauma expert Bessel van der Kolk, writes in his bestselling The Body Keeps the Score, “In order to overcome trauma, people need to feel safe enough to open up their hearts and minds to others and become engaged with new possibilities. This can be done if trauma survivors are helped to confront and confess the reality of what has happened and are helped to feel safe again. In many cultures this involves communal rhythmical activities, such as dancing…” And that is Toni Bergins' mission and method: to help readers move into a new story for their lives. Embody features Toni's prescription for a comprehensive healing journey, comprised of five core elements: · Music, to open the doorways of impulse, imagination, creativity and healing to change mood and awareness; · Movement, to enhance presence and confidence, and release old patterns and traumas; · Mystical Inquiry, where imagery and creative visualization exercises are used to guide readers into an alchemic and shamanic state to investigate past hurts, and learn to trust their instincts; · Prayers and Invocations, to raise energetic vibrations to a positive place with powerful affirmations; and · Journaling, with writing prompts to process inner self-awareness learned on the dance floor or through any of the other Embody elements. "I can not heal you but I can train you to become a shaman and you can heal yourself." Ray went on to become an apprentice of three shamans from lineages as old as the Inca civilization and the Amazon jungle shamans - traveling to Peru every year living with them as a family while learning, studying, and healing. He received several initiations until he arrived at the top level of the Q'ero lineage.  By the 12th year of his apprenticeship, Ray received the highest initiation, by his teacher Don Sebastian Pauccar Flores, as a Kuraq Akulleq. This Quechua(katwa) title translates to “seer” or “visionary” and comes with it a directive to share the Q'ero teachings with other nations as a planetary representative of the tribe's culture and medicine. This has become the mission of Ray's life, and he founded The Jaguar Path in 2007 as the home base for that work.  https://www.facebook.com/jaguar.path https://www.instagram.com/reel/C-NbCWPJBzs/ https://www.youtube.com/@TheJaguarPath Master of Your Crafts is a captivating podcast featuring conversations with individuals who have dedicated themselves to mastering their craft. Sara Avant Stover is a business strategist, Internal Family Systems practitioner and author based in Boulder, Colorado. She works with female spiritual entrepreneurs to help them with both the spiritual and practical aspects of building a business and pursuing inner transformation. She draws on 25 years as a yoga and meditation practitioner and a teacher, author, and entrepreneur.    Sara is an "overachiever." She started dancing ballet at the age of three and continued until she went to college. She was also an entrepreneur, making and selling candy, T-shirts, and jewelry boxes from a young age. As a young adult, Sara realized the level of competition in ballet was leading to unhealthy behaviors and so she stopped. She graduated from Barnard College Phi Beta Kappa and applied to work in the Peace Corps. That's when things started to change.    While undergoing health exams for the Peace Corps, Sara was told she had early signs of cervical cancer. Because she would need medical exams every three months, she was not able to go to Africa. A meeting with an old high school teacher opened up an alternative: going to teach in Thailand, where she could get the health care she needed. She thought she'd be there a year; she ended up staying for nine years, traveling around the world at intervals while keeping Thailand as her home base. She also became a yoga teacher and started offering teacher trainings as well as writing for magazines in the U.S. on yoga and spirituality.    Sara returned to the U.S. in her 30s and, with the help of her business partner, embarked on building her business online. She wrote and published her first book, The Way of the Happy Woman. She now offers private mentoring to female spiritual entrepreneurs, conducts programs and retreats, and has written two more books. The Handbook for the Heartbroken comes out this month.    Sara is informed by her deep practices in meditation and yoga, but also by Internal Family Systems, a psychological, evidence-based approach that teaches people how to look at different parts of themselves while holding fast to what she calls the "essential self." In doing this people can learn to listen to their fears without allowing them to hold them back.     Sara believes in entrepreneurship as spiritual practice, and is deeply interested in the intersection of money, business, and spirituality. She has learned to peel back the outside messages and tune into her "still small voice." Learning to listen to that voice is a central teaching she uses with the women she mentors to help them break free of barriers and build their spiritual businesses.    Sara will be leading retreats this year at the Drala Mountain Center in Colorado and the Kripalu Center in Massachusetts. Married for over 54 years, they have been doing joint couples work for over 40 years, leading workshops and courses all over the world, and are the authors of 5 books; the most recent is An End To Arguing, which we talk about in this episode. Charlie and Linda share valuable, insightful and practical tools for how couples can work towards and maintain a strong relationship, despite hardships, of which they have survived many. Beginning with a shared value of being lifelong learners, they have always taken the time for personal growth which has served as the foundation for their relationship, as they've always been inspired to aim higher. In this episode we talk about the 3 words you should never say to your partner in an argument, how you can have a breakdown become a breakthrough instead of a breakup, and how relationships are spiritual practices. When you can self-reflect and take responsibility for your emotions and experience, reveal with vulnerability what you are feeling rather than conceal it, and continue to communicate until you are feeling complete after an argument, then you can truly reside in the safety of a secure relationship.
