In this episode, Dr. Busenitz and Dr. Chou continue their conversation with Dr. Mike Riccardi about the Trinity. They talk about how evangelicals can--unintentionally--misrepresent the Trinity. And they show how the source of so much division in the church is often a misguided, or even dangerous, view of the Trinity.
John Calvin said “it is impossible to praise God without also uttering the praises of the Father, of the Son, and of the Spirit.” The three persons Calvin is referring to are, of course, the Trinity. What does the Bible say about this doctrine? How do we think correctly about the relationships within the Trinity? And how should this central aspect of God affect how we live each day? To answer those and more questions about the Trinity, Dr. Chou and Dr. Buzenitz are joined by Dr. Michael Riccardi, theology professor at The Master's Seminary. Together, they take a deep look at who God is and what the fact that he is Trinity means for all of us.

As we continue our study in John 14, we unpack how the Holy Spirit is to be our helper according to Jesus. First, He is a Constant Companion, never leaving us alone but dwelling within us. Second, He Cultivates Our Obedience, empowering us to follow Christ's commands in love. Third, He Clarifies the Truth, teaching and reminding us of Jesus' words. Through the Spirit, we are guided, strengthened, and assured of God's presence in our lives.
In this sermon we continue our study in the Gospel of John and consider the importance of Christ's unity with the Father. We learned that Christ's unity with the Father assures us that His words are true and will come to pass, giving us a certain hope. It also calls us to consistent lives, as the Church now represents Christ's authority and power on earth. Finally, it means our prayers are considered, for when we pray in Christ's name, we speak with His divine authority before the Father.
In previous episodes, we saw that no one in the Bible - notJesus, not Moses, not Isaiah or any other prophet, not Peter, not Paul or any other apostle – no one proclaimed or described that God is three in one. Rather, we saw specifically that God is the Father alone, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ. We looked at Paul's description of God and the Lord Jesus Christ in Ephesians 1.To Paul, God is not the Trinity, but the Father alone. And, Paul says the LordJesus Christ has a God. The Lord Jesus Christ's God is the Father. The LordJesus Christ is not God since he has a God and Jesus is someone other than God.Previous episodes:If the Bible is Right, God is NOT a Trinity (Part 1) https://youtu.be/S1-qBYVrkdUIf the Bible is Right, God is NOT a Trinity (Part 2) https://youtu.be/2x81JF9sKqc It is simple reading comprehension. When reading the Bible, nowhere is God a Triune being. I want to make one more simple reading example in the Bible where, in this case, we will see if the Apostle Peter believed that God was a Trinity, or that the Lord Jesus Christ was God.  Through simple reading comprehension, we will be able understand that the Apostle Peter's God was not the Trinity, and the Lord Jesus Christ was not Peter's God. Peter DID NOT declare that “God is a Trinity”. Peter DID NOT declare that one must believe that God is a Trinity. Peter DID declare that someone else other than the Lord Jesus Christ is God, that is, that the Lord Jesus Christ is not God. Peter DID declare that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. We look at a couple of corroborating statements from Peter in the Gospels and one of his epistles, but focus on Peter's Pentecost sermon in Acts Chapter 2.  Acts 2:2224"Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with powerful deeds, wonders, and miraculous signs that God performed among you throughhim, just as you yourselves know– 23this man, who was handed over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge ofGod, you executed by nailing him to a cross at the hands of Gentiles. 24 But God raised him up… In this text, is God triune? Is Jesus God?  Acts 2:30-33“So then, because he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn to him with an oath to seat one of his descendants on his throne, 31 David by foreseeing this spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was neither abandonedto Hades, nor did his body experience decay. 32 This Jesus God raised up, and we are all witnesses of it. 33 So then, exalted to the right hand of God, and having received the promise of the holy spirit from the Father, he has poured out what you both see and hear.” Acts 2:36Therefore let all the house of Israel know beyond a doubt that God has made this Jesus whom you crucified both Lord and Christ."  Mark 8:29, He asked them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answered him, "You are the Christ." Luke 9:20, Then he said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answered, "The Christ of God." Matt. 16:16, Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." (Mat 16:16 NET) 1 Peter 1:3, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he gave us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,  1 Peter 20-21He (Christ) was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was manifested in these last times for your sake. 21 Through him you now trust in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God. Peter never describes God as being triune, and never declares that Jesus is God.  If the Bible is right, God is not a Trinity. If Peter is right, God is not a Trinity. If your God is the Trinity, you have a different God than Peter.
00:00  God is Never a Trinity in the Bible. 03:14 God is always referred to with singular pronouns.HE did great things through Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ is someone else, a different “person and being” thanGod.   04:18 Typical Responses from the Previous podcast, and why they fall short. No one showed a place in the Bible where God is described or revealed to be a Trinity. Trinitarian apologists construct their god. Matthew 28:19, John 10:30, Genesis 1:26? 06:26 So much confusion in Trinitarian responses. Theimmediate “default” is to go to a few verses that Trinitarians think show that “Jesus is God”. 10:14 Trinitarian scholars who describe that theTrinity is not revealed in the Bible. “Can't just rifle through the pages of the Bible in forming the doctrine (of the Trinity)” 11:55 Assembling the Trinity, the methodology is faulty. No one in the Bible does this. 14:08 Similarity between Trinitarian and modern “woke”usage of pronouns. Denying reality and insisting on using a pronoun that does not apply. 16:07 Who to believe: Trinitarians or the Bible? Stick with the Bible.  #trinity, #deityofchrist, #biblicalunitarian, #fredsanders, #jameswhite Other RelatedPodcasts: If the Bibleis Right, God is NOT a Trinity (Part 1)https://youtu.be/S1-qBYVrkdU Is the Trinity in the Bible? Do you ever feel like our affirmation of God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is hard to grasp? Confusing? Maybe not even necessary? St. George's former Senior Associate Rector and author Tim Jones has explored such questions for decades. He has made some exciting discoveries about how much difference this ancient Christian belief can make, bringing to our praying a new vitality. And how it answers our deepest questions about our being loved. Guest teacher the Rev. Timothy Jones joined us for this 3-part teaching in January 2025.

What does it mean to have a personal relationship with Jesus? While the phrase “personal relationship with Jesus” isn't directly in the Bible, examples like Moses, Abraham, and David show that God desires connection with His people. In this message by Pastor Alex Klimchuk, he talks about what a relationship with God the Son(Jesus) looks like. Dr. Craig completes his response to a Muslim scholar on the Trinity.
Dr. Craig responds to a Muslim scholar's four objections to his view of the Trinity.
Last Sunday, we concluded our 2025 Stewardship Campaign with a sermon entitled “I Am Here to Rejoice – A Day of Celebration,” based on Ephesians 3:14-21 (CEB) and Psalm 118:19-24 (NRSV). In this season of reflection, we are reminded that God calls us to not only a life of purpose but also a life of joy. The Apostle Paul's prayer in Ephesians invites us to explore the depth of God's love—a love that strengthens, roots, and fills us with all the fullness of God. This powerful reminder speaks to God's ability to accomplish more than we can ask or imagine through the Spirit at work within us.
Through this message, we'll reflect on how each of us is uniquely equipped by God to support the church's growth and unity. We'll explore the significance of using our gifts to strengthen the body of Christ and emphasize that every member plays a crucial role in nurturing our faith community.
I'm excited to share with you today about the second message in our sermon series, “Why Trinity.” Last Sunday we learned about our purpose, considering Esther's role at a very specific moment in history to accomplish a very specific work of God. This week we will talk about growth as part of our participation here at Trinity United Methodist Church.
As we begin our 2025 Stewardship Campaign, “Why Trinity,” I am excited to share that we will start this journey with a sermon entitled “I Am Here for a Purpose,” based on Ephesians 4:1-7, 11-13 (CEB) and Esther 4:9-17 (CEB). In Ephesians, the Apostle Paul urges us to walk in a manner worthy of our calling. We are reminded that the body of Christ is made up of many parts, each with a purpose, all contributing to the unity and growth of the whole. This message is echoed in the story of Esther, where she discovers that she has been placed in her position “for such a time as this” to make a difference for her people. Both of these scriptures speak to the truth that God has a specific purpose for each of us within the church and in the world.

Trusting The Ancient Of Days"The Unholy Trinity"“In the darkest of times, God's light seems to always find a way to shine through key servants that He raises up. The nation of Israel had walked away from God for the final time. By 605 B.C. the Babylonians had subjugated Judah and by 586 B.C. had conquered God's chosen people altogether, destroying Jerusalem and hauling away its people into captivity. The nation of Israel was no more. And yet, the God of Israel was very much alive and at work. And that was never more evident than in the life of one man – Daniel. For seventy years Daniel stood unwaveringly as God's faithful messenger of truth. With undaunted courage, unmuffled clarity, and sincere and humble loyalty to God, Daniel was used to show the world that there is a sovereign God in heaven who rules supreme and is fulfilling His eternal plan for Israel and for all the Nations in accordance with His divine purposes for the ages. God is in charge and there's no doubt about it! If you want to be encouraged while living in troubling times; if you want to gain insight into what God's plans are for the future; and if you want to see an example of the type of person God uses for His glory, then join us as we study the Book of Daniel.”
