Ashley Lemieux's journey is a masterclass in navigating grief as an entrepreneur. She became a mother overnight, only to lose the children she raised in a contested adoption. Years later, she was pregnant and hopeful, but a battle with sepsis led to the devastating loss of her baby boy. After years of running from grief, Ashley finally reached a breaking point. One day, she broke down, threw up her hands, and screamed, “I am here!” That mantra became a powerful reminder to stay mindful. In this episode, Ashley shares how the Clarity Mapping framework helped rebuild her life and teaches us how to shine, even through life's darkest moments. “Take the next step, whatever that might be.” Fr. Mario Amore joins Men of the Hearts hosts Fr. Craig Giera and Fr. Drew Mabee to talk about his journey to the priesthood. His path was full of twists and turns, with stops in altar service and music ministry. After applying to Sacred Heart Major Seminary and subsequently delaying enrollment for two years, Fr. Mario finally took “the next step” to answer God's call. (0:26) Hosts Fr. Craig Giera and Fr. Drew Mabee introduce their guest this month, Father Mario Amore, Director of Evangelization and Missionary Discipleship for the Archdiocese of Detroit who also serves as a priest in solidum for the Resurget Cineribus Family of Parishes, which includes St. Aloysius, Old St. Mary's, and the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Fr. Amore reflects on his last few months, including Christmas and the annual SEEK conference. (6:55) Fr. Mario is no stranger to podcasts, having previously hosted the Archdiocese of Detroit's I AM HERE podcast in support of the National Eucharistic Revival. Our hosts join Fr. Mario in a discussion about some of the beautiful stories shared through that effort. Fr. Mario also shares his experience hosting the Certifiably Catholic podcast alongside Mary Wilkerson and Mike Chamberland, current hosts of Archbishop Vigneron's Eyes on Jesus podcast.(12:25) Fr. Drew and Fr. Craig reflect on their last few months. Fr. Drew has been “learning the lay of the land” at his assignment in Novi and recently had dinner with his brother and a longtime friend. Meanwhile, Fr. Craig has been encouraged by increasing attendance at Sacred Heart Major Seminary's recent Discernment Weekends. The group also talks about the significance of altar serving to encourage vocations to the priesthood.(20:12) Fr. Mario shares his vocation story. He attended Catholic school as a child and attended Mass every Saturday evening with his family, “doing whatever I had to do to embarrass [my parents].” Still, he remembers his maternal grandfather predicting that he would become a priest one day. He started serving the parish as an altar server before taking a detour into music ministry as a teenager. Ultimately, his interest in theology led him to explore taking classes at Sacred Heart Major Seminary, which he calls his “first foot in the door” of discerning the priesthood. (33:11) Fr. Mario recalls attending a discernment weekend at Sacred Heart. He was already familiar with the academic experience of the seminary, having taken classes since high school, but his discernment weekend affirmed for him that he could find joy in the brotherhood and community of Sacred Heart. After working in a parish for two more years, Fr. Mario finally decided to apply to become a seminarian—but waited and discerned another two years before officially entering the seminary.(44:53) Fr. Mario talks about his time as a seminarian at Sacred Heart, his ordination in 2015, and celebrating his first Mass at St. Pius X in Southgate on the anniversary of his baptism at the same church. He also touches on what it's like to serve both as a parish priest and Detroit as Director of Evangelization and Missionary Discipleship for the Archdiocese of Detroit. He then offers his advice to men considering the priesthood: “Take the next step, whatever that might be.” The episode concludes with a prayer and blessing.

I Am Here to Say Thank You I am here to say thank you—not for the things you give, but for who you are. I praise and magnify your holy name. Daddy, you are good in all your ways, and trustworthy is your name. I am here to say thank you for your unconditional love—a love I could never earn. Yet, while we were still sinners, you chose to die for us. I worship you, not for the bread you give, but for the bread of life that you are. You are the source of my strength, my joy, and my peace. In you, I find my perfect rest. You are the Father who never sleeps or slumbers. You watch over me, protecting my going out and my coming in. You see all, you know all—even before it happens. I am here to say thank you, Daddy. You have made my heart your home. You know me better than I know myself. I am your prized possession, your royal priesthood, your holy nation. Thank you, Baba, for always leading me by your Spirit. You are Alpha—the Beginning, Omega—the End, and the God of everything in between. Wherever I go, there you are. In my weakness, you make me strong. I am not sufficient in myself, but my sufficiency is in you, Father. I am here to say thank you. By you, Daddy, I can run through a troop. By you, Father, I can leap over a wall. You are my confidence, my teacher, my guide. You have trained my hands for battle and my fingers for war. You are my fortress, my high tower, my deliverer, my shield, and my refuge. My soul will bless you. My soul will sing your praises. My mouth will shout for joy! I will never forget your benefits. You have forgiven all my sins and healed all my diseases. You have redeemed my life from destruction and crowned me with loving kindness and tender mercies. You satisfy my soul with good things and renew my youth like the eagle's. I am here to say thank you, Daddy. For some trust in chariots and others in horses, but I will remember the name of the Lord my God. Thank you. Baba

Last Sunday, we concluded our 2025 Stewardship Campaign with a sermon entitled “I Am Here to Rejoice – A Day of Celebration,” based on Ephesians 3:14-21 (CEB) and Psalm 118:19-24 (NRSV). In this season of reflection, we are reminded that God calls us to not only a life of purpose but also a life of joy. The Apostle Paul's prayer in Ephesians invites us to explore the depth of God's love—a love that strengthens, roots, and fills us with all the fullness of God. This powerful reminder speaks to God's ability to accomplish more than we can ask or imagine through the Spirit at work within us.

How does resilience shape your identity? Celeste Sowder is the author of "I Am Here, But I Am Late" and founder of The Soul Sister Project. Her life has been a journey of learning to embrace the messiness of learning resilience later in life, mental health, and finding purpose through struggle. After experiencing a mental breakdown in 2023 and losing the grip of her white-knuckled sanity, Celeste realized how desperately she needed to let go and trust God with her story. That breakdown was a turning point, showing her the power of vulnerability, the importance of faith, and how our hardest moments can lead to our greatest impact. So, if you're ready to stop playing small, step out of the box, and share your story—let's do this together. You're not alone, and your impact is just waiting to unfold. In episode 504 of the Fraternity Foodie Podcast, we find out what was going on in Celeste's life in 2023 when she had a mental health crisis, how she was able to bounce back from ADHD diagnosis to Entrepreneurial success, how resilience shapes your identity, how college students can build authentic connections, how AI can support mental health and personal branding, what is The Soul Sister Project, what her memoir called "I Am Here, But I Am Late" will offer our listeners, and how college students can find their calling in life. As we begin our 2025 Stewardship Campaign, “Why Trinity,” I am excited to share that we will start this journey with a sermon entitled “I Am Here for a Purpose,” based on Ephesians 4:1-7, 11-13 (CEB) and Esther 4:9-17 (CEB). In Ephesians, the Apostle Paul urges us to walk in a manner worthy of our calling. We are reminded that the body of Christ is made up of many parts, each with a purpose, all contributing to the unity and growth of the whole. This message is echoed in the story of Esther, where she discovers that she has been placed in her position “for such a time as this” to make a difference for her people. Both of these scriptures speak to the truth that God has a specific purpose for each of us within the church and in the world.

Episode 500 – I Am Here, I Am Whole   Today we have Brady. He is 43 years old from Denver, CO and took his last drink on July 18th, 2023.   Whatever day you are on, we want to hear it, see it and support you. On Sundays, head on over to RE on Instagram and post on our Roll Call. Let the world know where you are at.   There are still a few spots open on our next Alcohol-Free travel trip to Vietnam. This upcoming January 9th-20th, 2025, we're heading to this incredible Southeast Asia paradise for 10 days and 11 nights with 25 travelers who are done nursing hangovers.   Starting Monday September 16th, all new registration for Café RE will be added to our community, which is no longer on Facebook. We have found a place that allows us to make these connections better. Beginning October 1st, all current members will start shifting over there as well.   Sponsors mentioned in this episode:   Better Help  - code ELEVATOR   [03:57] Thoughts from Paul:   For 500 straight Mondays, Recovery Elevator has released an episode with someone sharing how they quit drinking. We do this to help, to serve, and also selfishly since Paul and all members of the team are also on this AF journey.   Paul started this podcast in 2015 and just celebrated 10 years since his last drink. He shares how he started the Recovery Elevator Sobriety Tracker. He also shares that since starting, we now have Café RE, have done five international sober travel trips, have had 15 official RE retreats, and over 1500 people have signed up for our courses. Paul shares what he is most happy about are the gains in his personal life. He is married and has a three-month-old son and is well into a creating a life that no longer requires alcohol.   The lyrics to the new intro song: “I am here, I am whole” remind us that there is nothing wrong with us, we are not fractured, and we can correct the imbalance in our lives. And we don't have to do it alone.   [11:00] Paul introduces Brady:   At the time of recording, Brady just celebrated one year alcohol free!   Paul and Brady have been friends for a very long time, and both acknowledge that it's good be on the other side of their drinking times to now sharing sobriety with one another.   Brady and lives in the suburbs of Denver, he is 43 years old and is a realtor and formerly a high school teacher. Brady is married and they have a five-year-old son.   Brady says he drank more than the average high school student. He thinks his drinking in college was on par with normal for that time of life. It wasn't until his late thirties that he started to realize that his relationship with alcohol wasn't good. He feels that the time during COVID just normalized drinking at home for him. It became an everyday thing, and he slowly stopped having any interest in anything other than drinking.   An acute panic attack one night found him feeling empty. When he talked to his mom about it, she asked if he had been drinking. It was then that he started to connect the dots and was on the road to exploring the role alcohol had in his life. He never considered himself an alcoholic, but knew he was not living the life he wanted to.   Since quitting drinking, Brady has lost 20 pounds, is says he is more aware of what he is doing and it's more purposeful. Brady has discovered that everything is clearer now. He mentions listening to The Huberman Lab podcast about alcohol really helped him in addition to Alan Carr's book about quitting drinking. Learning what alcohol really does to us has been an important tool for Brady. He has not attended AA but had a lot of support from people around him and was comfortable sharing with them. Brady has shifted his identity to no longer being a dude that drinks.   Brady's parting piece of guidance: just do it, find those resources that will help you.     Recovery Elevator You took the elevator down, you got to take the stairs back up. We can do this.

The Scars and Guitars New Music Show returns for February 2024, showcasing an impressive roster of cutting-edge artists including I AM HERE, DORO, High on Fire, MY DYING BRIDE, Lesbian Bed Death, Saturday Night Satan, Olathia, Necrowretch, DAMNATIONIS, SULFURIC HATRED, ABERRATION, DIABOLIC OATH, Maurda, REFRACTURE, Black Hate, GATES TO HELL, Stellar Remains, 72 Legions, Manifestations, Lifesick, Dripping Decay, ABORTED, KAOSPHERE, JUNTA, and RAW WAR. Prepare for an exploration of extreme and blackened sounds. Reflecting on recent months, a change in ownership in 2022 prompted the quest for a new podcast host. With Whooshkaa's acquisition by Spotify, Anchor emerged as the recommended alternative, albeit with frustratingly limited music-sharing capabilities. Most of the music featured on the show was sourced directly from agents, musicians, and distributors, much of which wasn't even available on Spotify. By November, it became evident that the show couldn't continue under these constraints. Now, with the opportunity to host the show anew on a different platform and explore other music projects, listeners can tune in via iHeart Radio, iTunes, Amazon, and more. The eagerly awaited return of the monthly music show is finally here, and it's here to stay!

An interview about Metatron Press' newest project, GLYPHÖRIA, with Managing Editor, Ashley Obscura. * Ashley Obscura is a Canadian-Mexican poet, writer, publisher and literary curator. She is the author of three poetry collections: SEXO POR ÚLTIMA, AMBIENT TECHNOLOGY and I AM HERE. She is the Founder and Managing Editor of METATRON PRESS (2016), a multi-award-winning literary publisher that publishes experimental and cutting-edge contemporary poetry and fiction in unique pocketbook editions by debut authors. Metatron's projects also include various explorations in literary discoverability and innovative solutions to capturing the cadence and spirit of contemporary writing, including over 50 events, a podcast and multiple explorations in digital publishing, including the recently released GLYPHÖRIA project, a new digital literary platform. GLYPHÖRIA is a literary cyber environment designed to optimize the emotional gravity of poetry online through the exhibition of curated multidisciplinary poetry. It asks: How do we mark poetry upon the pixelated walls of the internet in new ways? What if there were a space where traditional and contemporary publishing could seamlessly co-exist, merge, and cross-fertilize to inspire a new generation of literary art forms? If traditional poetry imagined itself on walls, or in print, on paper, bound— GLYPHORIA imagines itself as exploring the marking of meaning and presence on ephemeral digitalia. Via a series of guest-edited issues, GLYPHORIA fuses multimedia poiesis within a living archive of glyphilic glitches, orchestrating an immersive conversation between various forms and formats. Inspired by the glyph, the most ancient form of written communication, GLYPHORIA reimagines how we publish, share literature and pollinate digital chasms in the 21st century. It is their hope to engage poetry in its current iterations— influenced and created within the technological age, its pixels and echos and glitches. Together we will bring collaborative poiesis and emotional gravity to our ambient networks and clouds. On the show this time, it's the code-switching pop-pastiche of Caroline Polachek.  Caroline Polachek returned to KEXP to play songs from her newest record ‘Desire, I Want To Turn Into You' available on her own imprint “Perpetual Novice.” It opens with some gloriously over-the-top vocal acrobatics. A call across the ocean? A wail of anguish? A howl of desire? Maybe more directly an announcement and a warning - “I AM HERE.” Without warning she flips the switch and bang! we are into the deadpan “Welcome to my Island” hook, and a beat that could be described as “Don't you forget about the Soul-Sonic Force.” From there the music flows seamlessly through genres, styles, decades, vibes - anything goes, and Caroline Polachek's encyclopedic knowledge of (and love for) music, unifies the experience.
