More than any single institution, the US Federal Reserve drives global financial markets with its decisions and communications. While its interest rates are set by the 12-member Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), for almost a century, the Fed's underlying philosophy and operations approach have been moulded by one person: the Chair of the Board of Governors. Over The Chair's eight episodes, Tim Jones talked to authors of books about the Fed's most consequential chiefs – Marriner Eccles, Bill Martin, Arthur Burns, Paul Volcker, Alan Greenspan, Ben Bernanke, Janet Yellen and Jerome Powell. The Powell podcast was meant to be the last. But, after Kevin Warsh took over from Powell on 22 May 2026 and started preparing for his first FOMC meeting as chairman in mid-June, a ninth episode became irresistible. Who is this Republican hawk-turned-dove? As one policymaker among 12, has he over-promised to a volatile president? To discuss Warsh, Tim is joined by three "Fed watchers" – Claire Jones, Michael Redmond and Catarina Saraiva. Claire, who used to “watch” the European Central Bank for the Financial Times, is now the FT's US economics editor and has transferred her monitoring skills to the Fed. Catarina is a 17-year veteran at Bloomberg News, reporting exclusively on the Fed and US economics since 2019. Michael has been Medley Advisors' Fed analyst since 2022, having worked as an economist at the US Treasury and the Kansas City Fed. "I think [Warsh] has upset a lot of people with the criticisms that he's had of the Fed," says Claire Jones. "I think there's just this sense where people are worried because they're thinking: 'What did you have to say in order to get this job? What have you promised to the administration in order to get this job?' So, there's those issues of trust ... However, he is very charming; he's been at the Fed before; he knows how the game is played. So, I don't think that's necessarily entirely insurmountable". Learn more about your ad choices. This sermon from Exodus 25 reveals God's deep desire not just for worship, but for relationship - His longing to dwell among His people. Through the tabernacle, we see a powerful picture ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ, who came to “tabernacle” among us and bring us into fullness of life. The message challenges us to move beyond empty religion or duty and instead respond to God's grace with hearts stirred by love, generosity, and joyful surrender. Because God has given everything for us in Christ, we are invited to offer our time, gifts, resources, and whole lives back to Him - not out of obligation, but as a wholehearted response to the God who first gave all.

This message focuses on the return of Jesus as the coming King, drawing from Matthew 24 and reminding us that while no one knows the day or hour, we are called to live ready, awake, and full of faith. The sermon highlights that Jesus' story is not complete without His return - when He will bring judgment, restoration, and eternal life to those who trust in Him. It encourages believers to fix their hope on His coming, live faithfully in the present, and find confidence in Christ's finished work, knowing He is both a loving Saviour and the righteous King who is coming again.

The latest episode of the Fantasy/Animation podcast marvels at the era of technologically-powered immersive experiences and high-tech live concert performances through a case study of the Sphere Las Vegas, whose 16K resolution/160,000-square-foot wraparound screen was announced via a series of 40 virtual reality concerts held by U2 between September 2023 to March 2024. Joining Chris and Alex as they navigate these new forms of concert illusion is Dr Tim Jones, an Assistant Professor of Media Arts at Robert Morris University who specialises in animation, film history, media production, and Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) experience design. Topics include fantastic environments and the aesthetic principles of immersion; the promise of limitlessness when liveness and animation collide, and the resultant spectacle of domed displays; site specificity, aura, and the scale of collective experiences; distinctions between contemplation and distraction; and how the Las Vegas Sphere operates as an expensive party trick that helps us understand animation's own sacred spaces and sensory overloads. **Fantasy/Animation theme tune composed by Francisca Araujo** **As featured on Feedspot's 25 Best London Education Podcasts** **As featured on MillionPodcast's Best 10 UK Animation Podcasts and Best 60 Movie Podcasts in the UK**

We talk about polarization in terms of media, algorithms, and politics. But what if we've simply forgotten how to sit down with people who aren't like us?In this episode, David sits down with Tim Jones, founder of Longer Tables, a real-world initiative that brings strangers together over shared meals to rebuild social trust and human connection.Tim argues that humans are “slow-cooked.” Trust, belonging, and meaningful relationships don't scale at the speed of technology—and that mismatch may be driving much of our social division. This conversation explores what happens when you remove job titles, politics, and performance from the table—and what it might take to design connection in a polarized world.Text me your feedback and leave your contact info if you'd like a reply (this is a one-way text). A pedestrian advocacy group is pushing back against the Government's proposed changes to cycling on the footpath - saying only children aged 5 or younger should be allowed. Living Streets Aotearoa says the current proposal, which would see children up to 12 years old being allowed to ride bikes or e-bikes on the footpath with no speed restriction, is dangerous for pedestrians using the footpath. They also say some footpaths should be off limits to all bikes completely. President of Living Streets Aotearoa, Tim Jones spoke to Melissa Chan-Green.
