Our RI Comic-Con recaps come to a close with one of the finest interviews we've done, renowned cartoonist, known nationwide for bringing the world "Sour Grapes," Mr. Tim Jones. We spent a few minutes discussing his art, the event, and about a million other things. For all the drunken laughs we enjoyed that weekend, these were possibly the most rewarding. (Any connections between Aesop, the miserable flying dog protagonist of the comic, and our own Brad, are purely coincidental.) -- #comedypodcast #humorpodcast #funnypodcast #darkhumor #podernfamily #RICC2025 #ComicCon #ricomiccon #sourgrapes #timjones www.needlesstosaypodcast.com www.ntspodcastgear.com
Welcome to Barn Talk! In today's episode, Sawyer and Tork are joined by brand builder, restaurateur, and bourbon aficionado Tim Jones. From his small-town Kentucky upbringing—where cattle farming, moonshining, and greeting card factories shaped his early days—to working with iconic bourbon brands like Buffalo Trace and Weller, Tim Jones shares his journey through the world of creativity and entrepreneurship. We dig into the grit behind building great brands, Tim Jones's leap into owning his own businesses, including the buzzworthy Boondogs hot dog joint, and how bourbon became a centerpiece of his story. Plus, hear about Tim Jones's behind-the-scenes experiences on Discovery Channel's Moonshiners and Master Distiller, and the lessons learned from both triumphs and setbacks (including exploding cans!). This episode packs practical wisdom, laughs, and inspiration for anyone chasing their own vision—whether you're a farmer, a founder, or just a fellow bourbon lover.Shop Farmer Grade
The month of November is the time for our Care Campaign and in this powerful message from Isaiah 61, Tim unpacks the good news of Jesus - the one who binds up the brokenhearted, lifts the poor, and restores devastated lives. We explore how Christ's mission becomes our mission through the Holy Spirit, and how the church is called to reflect His compassion in practical ways.

The conversation delves into the complexities of legal rules, particularly focusing on the balance between individual privacy and government investigation needs. It emphasizes the importance of understanding the nuances of legal interactions, especially in police questioning and the implications of testimonial evidence. In the realm of law, understanding constitutional criminal procedure is crucial, especially for those preparing for law finals or the bar exam. This area of law is where high constitutional theory meets real-world implications, affecting liberty and justice. Let's delve into the foundational aspects of the Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendments, and how they shape the legal landscape. The Sixth Amendment: Ensuring Fair Trials The Sixth Amendment guarantees fundamental trial rights, including the right to counsel, which was solidified by the landmark case Gideon v. Wainwright. This case underscored the necessity of legal representation for a fair trial, leading to the establishment of public defender systems across the states. The Fifth Amendment: Protecting Against Self-Incrimination The Fifth Amendment provides critical protections against self-incrimination, famously highlighted in Miranda v. Arizona. This case established procedural safeguards during custodial interrogations, ensuring that individuals are aware of their rights to remain silent and to have an attorney present. The Fourth Amendment: Regulating Searches and Seizures The Fourth Amendment protects against unreasonable searches and seizures, requiring warrants based on probable cause. However, several exceptions exist, such as the automobile exception and consent searches, which allow for warrantless searches under specific circumstances.Case Study: The Tim Jones Scenario Consider the case of Tim Jones, a 17-year-old who inadvertently started a wildfire. His case illustrates the application of these constitutional principles, from the legality of the search of his van to the implications of his consent to the search. It highlights the importance of understanding the scope of consent and the exceptions to warrant requirements. Conclusion: Mastering constitutional criminal procedure requires a systematic approach, understanding the source of rights, legal triggers, and the exceptions to established rules. It's about balancing individual privacy with governmental needs, a challenge that law students and practitioners must navigate with precision.Subscribe Now: Stay informed and deepen your understanding of constitutional law by subscribing for more insights and updates.TakeawaysThese rules are rarely black and white. They often involve balancing competing interests.Where does a consensual encounter end? When do police words cross the line?understanding not just the outcome of the cases.the balance the court struck.legal complexities, privacy, government investigation, police questioning, testimonial evidence, court balance

Should "good" people work for authoritarians? Does their implicit endorsement do more harm than their replacement by someone potentially worse? This was a common debate during Donald Trump's first term in the White House. Less so, during his second as loyalists assume most top positions in the administration. A century ago, this was a central question for Italy's governing class as Benito Mussolini's fascist movement seized and consolidated power, evolving over three years from a mix of authoritarianism and democracy into full-blown dictatorship. Some chose retirement and some exile. Alberto Beneduce, who publicly denounced fascist violence in 1922 and called for police repression of Mussolini's movement, chose to stay. Over 15 years, this committed socialist leveraged the Duce's trust to build a network of economic agencies that outlasted Mussolini and provided the foundations of post-war Italian capitalism. At his zenith in the late-1930s, Beneduce was on the board of 26 corporations, chaired eight and was - in the words of Lorenzo Castellani, author of Alberto Beneduce, Mussolini's Technocrat: Power, Knowledge, and Institutions in Fascist Italy (Routledge, 2025) - the head of a "state outside the state". By Greg RabidouxI may be waiting awhile. Probably forever. Today, October 13th, 2025, is an historic day for Israel and Palestinians and Jews everywhere. Tearful and joyful reunions abound as the living and no longer living hostages return to the Holy Land. The guns are silent throughout the Gaza strip. The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) have complied with President Trump's comprehensive peace plan and pulled back. Nearly 2,000 terrorists have been released by Israel as part of the price for peace. Hamas is scrambling to stay relevant as they face internal opposition and pressure to hold up its end of the peace bargain by standing down and disarming. The next step of beginning to build a "Board of Peace" to govern Gaza, all part of Trump's vision, is both bold and fraught with peril, fragile and profound in its potential for enduring peace and prosperity.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

For Tim Jones, the decision to become a skydiver wasn't a difficult one. A half planned road trip from the UK into France and a tandem skydive was about all it took. As sometimes seems to be the case, skydiving and Tim fit together pretty easily, and through a fortuitous friendship formed with Andrew Ford, who he would later find out was "somebody" in skydiving, he found himself working ground control at a very busy multi-aircraft turbine dropzone. With quite a few challenges, but also a number of valuable learning experiences, Tim managed to work and jump his way into the world of camera flying, and then eventually to tandems, finding pleasure not just in the work and the community, but in the potential for travel and experience in the small but extensive world of the Lunatic Fringe. Join in on this episode for an upbeat chat about all things jump.

This week marks palliative care week. highlighting the importance of being able to care for loved ones at home. Three out of four people say they'd like to die at home, yet only about one in four do. Most still die in hospital. One person who can speak to that in a very real way is Damien Bradley, a HSE paramedic from Donegal who cared for his mam at home in her final weeks. he used a palliative care app developed in Galway by symphysis medical to help manage her care.
