In this episode, Hall welcomes Kerry Rupp, General Partner at True Wealth Ventures. True Wealth Ventures is an early-stage venture capital fund run by women. They invest in women-led companies with products and technologies in the sustainable consumer and consumer health sectors that more efficiently solve the next generation of challenges. They believe that because women make the vast majority of consumer and healthcare purchases, having them on the management team designing, marketing, and servicing products is extremely beneficial. In this episode, you learn more about Kerry's background before early-stage investing. Right out of college she went into coding which was short-lived but got her into the tech space. She then spent 20 years in the early-stage-technology space working at early-stage companies. In her career, she has worked with everything from product management, biz dev, marketing, strategy, apps, and sales. She partnered up with former business associates to run one of the first accelerators in the market and fell upon investing in startups. They did not set out to create a venture fund next to an accelerator but realized they knew a lot about which startups were good and needed funding. The right model for the accelerator was to create an investment vehicle. It sprung out of the accelerator and was the right thing to do at that time.

#venturecapital #womenVCs #startups #conference #femaleVC In today’s podcast we’re looking at the financial aspect of startups and venture capital funds, and what is the women’s role and status there. Today we’re speaking with Sara Brand, Ph.D. She is currently the Founding General Partner at True Wealth Ventures, a venture capital firm out of Austin, TX, and their main focus is funding women-led startups, which is rare, but what’s rarer is the fact that the General Partners are in this case, both women. Even though their investor base is not comprised entirely by women, it is good to see that at least we can point to one venture capital fund that is led 100% by women. This is very enlightening conversation about the state of startups in the country, the funding that goes to women-run startups, and the number of women at the decision making levels across corporations and startups, and the differences between a companies with a boardroom comprised of all men, versus a company with a boardroom comprised with a more balanced ratio of male-female. To get in touch with Sara Brand, Ph.D. : http://truewealthvc.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/saratbrand/ We’d like to start mentioning The Business Magazine for Women’s first annual #conference called MORE WOMEN MORE MONEY coming up January 16, in Houston, TX. #WomeninVentureCapital: More women, more money! - A conversation with Kerry Rupp of True Wealth Ventures. There are 2% of women at the decision-making level in the Venture Capital world. The 2 women, partners at the only female-only venture capital firm that funds women-led startups, are armed with data and with positivity about the influence of women in the business and the startup worlds. And they're funding women-led startups!
